My encouragement is to stay away from this company! As a minister of the gospel for 30 years, it is fair to say I've dealt with contractors numbering in the hundreds over the years. I am fortunate to say that of all those contractors, I can count the number whose work was deficient on one hand. Of those with items of concern, ALL have been willing to talk and work through the issues. This company was sadly the ONLY exception I've ever dealt with and a grave disappointment. After seeing photos of the work (I live out of state), and having the work evaluated by a number of others in person, all of whom agreed the work was laughable at best (far less material than promised, and "sod" that looked to be nothing more than scraps of grass gathered from previous project), I reached out to the owner to have a conversation and hopefully work through the issue. The owner was not only unwilling to listen and discuss my concerns but resorted to what seemed to me to be threats and intimidation as his means of dealing with the issue. I had never dealt with this and needless to say I was shocked and saddened by his approach. The owner wanted to brag about his 30 years of experience (He later added another 10 years, I assume to sound more convincing), without seeming to understand that QUANTITY matters nothing, when QUALITY is completely missing. I would advise staying away from this company. Should you hire them, I'd strongly recommend being present when the work is being done to assure the materials and quality of work are both what was promised. read more

When lightning killed a massive pine on my lot, I knew exactly who to call -- Duval and Sons Tree Service. They've removed tough-to-reach trees for me before over the years, always with precision and care and for a competitive price. Jeff came out promptly, gave me a fair estimate, and two days later arrived with his crew, cranes, specialized equipment and protective pads to get the job done without disturbing my landscaping, septic tank/ field or the 30' bamboo the dead tree was growing out of. While working, they spotted another lightning-struck tree I hadn't noticed, right by my bedroom, and removed it as well -- possibly preventing a serious accident. By the time they were done, it looked like the trees had simply vanished, with no mess left behind. Professional, careful, and trustworthy -- I never bother getting other estimates. We had Duval cut down a large tree that would have taken out our fencing for our cattle and block driveway. It was a dangerous job, nonetheless the professional staff did a wonderful job at cutting the tree down. We weren't sure if the top part of the tree would damage fencing as it was cut down, it turned out it did take some of the barbwire and the staff and owner jumped right in and fixed it on the spot. We hired them to clear out some trees, so that way we could put a fence around our home. The price seemed reasonable, and the owner who came to do the quote was nice enough. The issue we had was when the team came to do the actual work. They just showed up, and started walking around our property when we weren't home. They didn't call before showing up, and it didn't seem to matter to them. We caught them on our security cameras, and we thought someone was robbing us. The owner said that the team would call me a day in advance to let me know when to be there, so this was really unexpected. When we rushed home to find them, a member of their team who looked like he was obviously abusing drugs asked us for $1000 CASH. Something that was never discussed when we did the estimate. Our estimate said we would be paying using a card reader. The man insisted, rudely, for the cash, and we refused. He eventually gave up on asking us when we showed him the estimate stating how the payment would be made. The ripped up our sprinklers, and damaged our neighbor's fence. The Drug-abusing, rude, cash-insisting jerk was frustrated that he couldn't finish the job in a day, and sped off down our road. He openly complained about how the owner did not repair or maintain his machinery, and then sped off. Our neighborhood has A LOT of children who play outside regularly. His reckless driving could have costed a life. To their credit, they fixed the neighbor's fence. They finally finished the work on the second day, but didn't come to explain or acknowledge the broken sprinkler system. I didn't want to write a whole review about how unsafe I felt by his team, and the overall unprofessionalism. I really just wanted to tell the owner, so he could deal with it since I prefer to support small businesses. But when I called him after the job was done, he couldn't care less. He have excuses like that they needed the cash for payroll, the guys on his team were young, and that he's lucky to have anyone come into work at all. I don't believe in this labor shortage to begin with. If you take care of your employees, they'll take care of you. I'm young, and my youth is not excuse for making people feel unsafe and to act unprofessional. This owner could not grasp the magnitude of the situation, and people need to know to be careful with these people. I had family ask us for a referral, and we told them we didn't feel comfortable referring them based on our horrible experience. read more

Had Duval trim a tree and they did a great job. I also had them cut back brush and tree limbs from the property line with my neighbor. Duval's staff are professional and very good at what they do. They took care not to destroy my lawn like a previous tree guy did. I am very happy with Duval and Son and will use them again i I need treeservice. read more
