From day one, Oliver was mindful of our budget, communicative/easy to reach, kept us up to speed with each step of the project, involved us in all decisions, and guided us when we didn't know what to do. We also wanted to work with a contractor who could design and make suggestions on how the space should look, aesthetically - Oliver has impeccable taste! When issues arrived with two of our vendors, Oliver always had alternative solutions or pulled a rabbit of a hat and simply made it happen. He and his team arrived on time each day, were respectful of our space and treated it like their own home. I have to give a special nod to Oliver's team as well, Eddie and Jamie. Jamie has such a pleasant demeanor, worked alongside Oliver and Eddie on everything, and no job was too small. Eddie is truly a master carpenter, and gave our kitchen a magazine worthy finish - not to mention he had a smile on his face every morning (even at 7:00am). We can't stop singing their praises to our friends and family and we are excited to have Downtown Abbeys work on our next project (and hopefully more after that). I took a chance because his wife owns a business close to where I live and she does good work (not to mention that the floors in her place are phenomenal.) He showed up on time and got right to work. He put up plastic barricades all over the place to prevent sawdust from getting all over and finished the whole job in about 5 hours. On the recommendation of a contractor I've known for years I called Mike Tran to get a quote for…read morerefinishing 3 rooms and a hallway on the first floor which had been done several times previously. I also wanted a portion of an upstairs bedroom done since it had not been refinished since the house was built. On the way downstairs Mike looked at the hallway outside the bedroom and asked if I would like that done as well since there were some scratches which had been caused by an ironing board being dragged over it. He did tell me that the scratches would not go wayway and, although they were barely noticeable, I agreed to have it done thinking that a fresh coat of polyurethane couldn't hurt. Unfortuately, I was wrong, as the refinishing resulted in there being a number of dark brown streaks where the scratches were. Mike negleted to tell me that the color of the scratches would be dramatically different from the oak floor that was being refinished. Had I been informed of this, I would not have done the hallway. The quality of Mike's work is good but he needs to be very clear regarding what one can expect based upon the job that has been contracted.
