I had work done from David almost two years ago. He was a disaster. It took forever for the project to get finished. He became THREATENING and NASTY and now I have MUSHROOMS GROWING INSIDE MY HOUSE!!! Three other people have reached out to me privately about David and the DESTRUCTION that he has caused to their property. Let's ALL get together for this lawsuit. David performed repair services to the walls, moldings, flooring and replaced woodwork in my Victorian office building from where I operate my law offices after a pipe burst in the wall (he does not do plumbing). He is more than personable, available and at times direct and up front which I appreciated. He gave me a great price, performed the work without delay, expertly matched the paint and the moldings. I was so excited to finally have my home renovated . I am a single mom and finally had some money to redo my home after my divorce I called David. He came out immediately and gave me an estimate on redoing my entire kitchen, bathroom and converting my basement into my son's room. Long story short this turned into a complete nightmare. David is nothing more than a scammer. He stole $30,000 from me. I had to take them to court and I won. he is manipulating and conniving please stay away. I had to have my bathroom redone and spend another $12,000 to do this because it was not done correctly and water poured through my ceiling into my kitchen and he tried to blame it on my partner . There are so many other things that went astray with this project. I can't even list them all. he is the most unprofessional person I have ever worked with in my life, please stay away at all costs very manipulating and will steal your money and not complete the job. If I could give zero stars I would I didn't even get my full 30,000 back because I had to go to small claims court because I couldn't afford a lawyer so they awarded me the max I could get which was $7500. read more

I unfortunately didn't have David and his team work on my property so this review is more of my experience with him personally. If I could rate at 4.5, this is what I'd be at since I personally couldn't validate quality of work. David is really responsive both via text and phone calls. He covers a wide area of service so you may have to give him proper heads up to make it to your property. He's very knowledgeable about things that you wouldn't expect, such as looking out for the height of railings both in and outside of the house. I'm a first time home owner so all the information and recommendations he provided was helpful. David would be perfect for you if you know what you're looking to fix, your budget, and have ideas on what the process of fixing would look like. He likes to bundle a lot of things to be done under your budget and he's willing to work with you on price and what materials he or you has to buy. Unfortunately, my budget shrank due to other unforeseen circumstances, so I couldn't proceed with David, but I do recommend at least giving him a call for some consideration. read more

Met David and his crew via another neighbor who hired David to do similar exterior work. The job was to cover the puddingstone exterior with new mortar. His crew removed all of the flaking mortar and then covered the entire surface. My other neighbor noted that the mortar is all the same color and that the entire surface is smooth and clean (apparently that is not always a result). I can both recommend him and want to employ his company for future projects. read more

I do not usually bother to write reviews about contractors, but I had to make an exception in Gonzatino Painting's Case. I live on the water in Scituate and, as such, have a constant queue of maintenance to take care of.... every year. I can't count the number of times that I have reached out to the neighborhood and friends for another recommendation for a contractor, painter, handyman, etc. In and around our community, at least, many of these people are busy, temporary, unreliable, or do not do quality work. I found Dave via a trusted recommendation. I needed to fix a wall "now," or else a replacement window would not be able to go in. This was a several-day job ... not trivial handyman work. Dave and his team scoped out the job and make it happen within on week of initial contact. It was fast and efficient and he was never late. Everything happened exactly when he said it would. He would text me ahead of time with questions or indications of time of arrival. So refreshing! The work was done, perfectly. Dave and his team even made it a point of being present when the Anderson window installers were there, just in case they had any questions or issues with his work.... so there would be no issues. The window went in. There were none. Well, I was so impressed with the first job that we started discussing the rest of my maintenance needs for the spring. Once again, Dave surprised me. He (a) considered what my stated needs were, he (b) offered other suggestions for related needed near and long term work (some of what I knew and some other legitimate ones I was unaware of), and he worked to (c) provide multiple price and scope and bundling options for what work would be done and how it could be done ... so that my available budget for maintenance could be most effectively used. Dave is proactive but not pushy, he is very easy to work with, and the work looks great. I actually feel a little less stressed knowing that I can call on him as needed and that things will promptly get taken care of and done right. And for the items he doesn't do himself, I have already experienced his ability to pull in other excellent, qualified people as needed, and make sure the job is done right, on time, and on projected budget. read more

I found David on Yelp to do a small project for me -- moving the washer and dryer hookup in my home. He is very responsive -- was the first person to reply and I think he started the work like 48 hours later. The work was finished to my satisfaction and he even came out a few days later when I (incorrectly) feared that there was something wrong with the electrical (it was a power failure caused by Eversource having nothing to do with David). I wouldnt hesitate to use him again. read more

David was very responsive and visited our condo twice to provide an estimate and discuss project ideas. I don't write reviews very often, but needed to get the word out about Gonzatino Painting. I was in pinch trying to rent my condo and totally overwhelmed with the amount of work I had ahead of me. I needed several rooms painted in a short amount time. I reached out to several companies all telling me no - "my job is to small, they were to busy and my timeline was to short". We hired Gonzatino Home Improvement to re-shingle the front of our sad-looking 1960's Garrison Colonial. David arrived on-site immediately and gave us an estimate for our project within just a few hours of assessing it. He and his team began work two days later, and wrapped up the entire project in one day (other contractors had told us 3-4 days of work, with weeks of wait time to start). In addition to the shingle work, David's team added a number of small touches that helped achieve the look of a brand new home. Great job painting the trim on my new old house! Highly recommend David and his crew.
