Very painful. The moment i hit my whole back was sprung. I could barely move. I went home immediately put ice on it took Advil and a muscle relaxer. My husband made an appt. For two days later. It was 9:00a.m. I went right into xray snd found i had a compression fracture L1. I was suppose to go to France next day. The PA said i don't think you are going. I pleaded with him and said i am not disappointing my grandson. Jonathan what a great guy, he spoke with Dr.Spayde, came back in and said, did you eat anything, luckily I didn't. He said we are going to do a kyphoplasty and you should be able to go without pain. So immediately i was triage, everyone came in. I got an MRI. The nurse who is the most sensitive caring person, (wish i remembered his name) was the best IV person I ever had. And the anesthesiologist was so kind and reassuring. This is s little past four weeks now and i feel great. I would give ten stars. How it is so amazing that all these guys got it together to fit me into their schedule. I can't thank them enough. But thank you, thank you, thank you!

In August of 2018 Erik Spayde performed a bi-lateral fusion for scoliosis treating severe sciatica…read more I did not know at the time, but the hardware was flawed, angled 40 degrees forward and totally mis-aligned with my sacrum; his flawed hardware basically crippled me, I could barely walk. Previously, at 73 I was in perfect health, surfing and backpacking. By the time I realized I was not going to get better the statute of limitation has passed. As a result of now being crippled I lost everything; my car, my company, everything I owned, and facing homelessness. I was told by 4 USC and UCLA spine surgeons the surgery was permanent and irreversble. I was devastated and depressed. Fortunately I found Dr. Alamin at Stanford, he diagnosed the mis-alignment, (I included my xrays) but told me he could fix it. I underent 8 hours of surgery, Dr. Alamin removed the flawed hardware, installed new hardware most of the way up my back, and I can basically walk, but I'd lost everything, I'll never get my life back and I'll never surf or backpack again. I wrote Dr. Spayde, and he denied his mistake, even though Dr. Alamin confirmed the mistake and that after his surgery I was able to walk and stand up straight. Dr. Spayde has glowing testimonials, but for me, he derailed my whole life, a life I will never get back, and a doctor who refuses to admit he screwed up. He may have glowing testimonials, but one mistake is one too many, including a lawsuit in 2013, a former patient, Mr. Hurst won, settling out of court. I filed a malpractice complaint with the Medical Board, and they basically threw it in the trash can, they protect the physican, not the patient. Based on my loss, and whatever loss Mr. Hurst suffered, and Dr. Spayde's denial. Don't go to him for treatment, he could make a third mistake, a devastating and irrepairable mistake.

Well I went, was terrified and had my consultation. The staff was amazing and their system was streamline and efficient. I didn't feel rushed and I didn't wait long for the doc to see me. Dr. Bawa was wonderful and immediately put me at ease. I had done my research and found that this talented and confident surgeon had an excellent track record of successful full hip replacement surgeries. After speaking with him, I knew immediately that I was in good hands. I was impressed by the surgical center and how equally efficient it was. Everyone took time with me and made sure I was fully cared for. When I woke from surgery and realized that I wasn't dead, it was the best day of my life.... lol. I was told by the hospitalist that my pre op hip was very bad. Much worse than the films indicated. I was then told that the surgery was a complete success and I should expect a full recovery. I am here to tell you that I felt much love. The gift this surgeon gave me was immeasurable. For 8 years I suffered and hid all my tears. I live at the beach and could only look out my window to see it but couldn't dream of walking on it. Today, I walk there regularly and think of him every time. My HERO. Expressed confusion, as this was difficult if not impossible given the broken shoulder and clavicle, on the same side. The tech acknowledged they misread the scans and assumed my shoulder/clavicle were not broken - they had only looked at the MRI request for the arm, not my total patient history. I was sent to another MRI facility the next day, where I was informed by a supervisor that I had been "illegally billed" the entirety of my deductible for surgery, which had not yet occurred. I called the office, was given an immediate refund, and had the MRI after paying a portion of the deductible. Three days later - and the Sunday before scheduled surgery - I called the hospital, as I had still not rec'd confirmation of logistics. The MRI still was not in. Siva called me at 5p Sunday night for the first time to cancel my Monday morning surgery, stating he "didn't think his care team could meet my needs." Epic understatement from a logistical standpoint alone, before factoring myriad other tangible and intangible factors. At minimum, an EQ and logistical experience of negative 100, start to finish, with zero acknowledgment or apology. Choose your adventure.

I fractured my knee back in October and because I work in the medical field I called the ortho in the building I work at but they couldn't see me for a week! I called Dr Robertson's office and they offered me an appt 2 days later which made me happy that someone could see me with a more reasonable time as I was in excruciating pain! The office staff is very professional and his nurses are amazing and they respond within a reasonable amount of time. It's also great that they have a PT facility within the office!
