6 stars. Fast, friendly, and cheaper than the competition. I don't cycle often (read: I can't remember the last time I rode a real bike before this trip) so I needed some help adjusting the seat on my bike and putting on my helmet. After getting a few tips on Montreal cycling etiquette I was on my way. My destination was the Isle Notre Dame and the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and I'm convinced that getting there on a bike was the best choice. By car it would have been too inconvenient and on foot it would have been a very long and inconvenient walk. The island is beautiful and a must see for any F1 fan. So why 6 stars? After my trip the the island I stopped back in for lunch downtown. Then I broke the key in the lock of my bike - 100% my fault toying with the lock and forcing it to turn when I had put it in the wrong way. I called the shop and 15 minutes later Daniel showed up on his scooter with a cordless saw and a fresh lock. 3 minutes later I was liberated and continued my day. Next level service. read more

Took the 3 hour tour. LOVED IT!! David was our tour guide. I guess I was expecting gas powered scooters but they were electric scooter bikes. I learned a lot about commuting this way which makes a lot of sense if you live in the city. I have ridden motorcycles most of my life and I had a blast. My wife had no experience but David was awesome as he taught the group and even had us all practice before we left. Within a few minutes my wife was an expert. Even cooler, since I am an experienced motorcycle rider, he allowed me to get ahead of the group on a large downhill so I could go as fast as I wanted. We took the afternoon tour with David, and the moment we got to Dyad we knew this was the tour for us. IMPORTANT: This is not your plain average historical tour, this is a FUN tour! If you're looking for history and sound bites this may not be the tour for you. We weren't interested in history, we wanted to have fast-paced fun while seeing the city, this was the answer! David showed us how to use the scooter and prioritized safety in the initial training. I was confident under his guidance, it is important you pay attention to the steps he outlines. If you pay attention to his instructions, understand how to brake and ride with safety in mind, you'll have a great time. We went through Parc du Mont-Royal, downtown, Jean-Talon market, old Montreal, the port, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the jazz fest. We saw so much, I'm certain I'm missing a few places. There was enough time to stop at each place for a few moments, take photos (bring a comb for helmet hair) walk around and get a feel for each place. David pointed out great spots, gave us insight to each area, and gave us a better idea on how to get around the city. For sure, this tour helped us have a better sense of where we would come back to later on in our trip. For me, the tour alone was one of the highlights of our time in Montreal. By the end of the day we were FLYING through city and felt like a gang of bad-asses! The scooters are SUPER fun, more than you'd expect -- you may start thinking of getting one back home. It is surprising how much distance you clear in little time on these scooters. You can tell Dyad takes care of their machines. The scooters are swift, and catch the attention of people you zip by. I suggest to do this tour early in your trip instead of later, as you will end your tour with a better sense of where you may or may not want to revist and spend more time. We weren't planning on visiting the port at all but after David showed us the area we came back the next day and had a fantastic time. You can also rent the scooters later on, and this tour gives you enough training to feel confident to take the scooters out for a spin by yourself. If you want to rent a scooter for an afternoon for fun, go for it. I did it twice before I ended up buying one. This is my experience with buying one for everyday use: I bought a new 2700 (after taxes) model to use daily to get around town. Within less than a year a had the following problems: One pedal fell off, the light stopped turning on after a few weeks, my mirror broke off while I was adjusting it (seems to be extremely cheap plastic glued on?) and my ignition key snapped in half and got stuck in the ignition. I am so dissatisfied with this bike I wish I had never gotten one. What a waste of money. What makes it even worse is, despite them giving me a "2 year warranty", when I brought it in to repair what is listed above, they charged me anyway because "it happened while i was using it" To add insult to injury, they decided to charge me a new pedal even though I gave them the old pedal which was still fine, a bolt had just come off. Oh and also the light only worked half the time when I got it back. While searching for a new bike online, I noticed that they just buy cheap ebikes from china and slap "DYAD" on it. In the past, my girlfriend and I have enjoyed bicycle tours when we visit new cities, and have felt it is a great way to see and learn about various parts of the city in the span of a few hours. But now, scooter tours have ruined bike tours for me, because of how much fun I had scootin' around town with our tour guide, David. David was an energetic, knowledgeable, and funny guide, and also seemed like such a genuine person. I got nothing but good vibes from him. A few other riders had an issue where they were on a tight schedule with their flights and needed to finish the tour earlier than expected, which required the whole group to head back a bit early, making it a not-quite-three-hour tour. David was extremely apologetic to the rest of us, offered us a nearly-free rental for the rest of the day, or offered to come back the following day to meet us and give us a bonus tour for a couple of hours. He even tried to refuse our tips because he felt he hadn't earned them. He was a stand-up guy. Of all the tours I've done of various cities, this was the most fun I've had. Staff was very friendly and helpful with route suggestions and map, bikes and helmets were in good condition and inexpensive, thanks! This was by far one of the best activities I've done! And riding scooters in Montreal made it even better! We had booked this a week or so before our trip and I can't get over how much fun it was. We had David as our guide (he was fabulous!) and over 2 hours of riding thru the town. It wasn't going thru the side streets or quiet neighbors but in the main areas of downtown , old town, university areas and everything in between. Brilliant. Perfect way to explore the city. We randomly saw this place on a night jaunt across Prince Arthur. A member of our crew was interested in buying a scooter back in Toronto, so we looked up the store, and rented e-scooters the next day. It was shockingly easy to arrange. We simply filled out a form, gave a copy of our IDs (no drivers license necessary), and we were given the scooters. A quick, 5 minute lesson, and we were on our way around the city. Montreal is an excellent city to discover on a bike. There are many bike paths, and you can find maps. Best destinations: - head down Berri to Old montreal. You can zoom around the old port and then across the canal. Bike lanes continue across to the other side of the canal, and as you continue south-east along, you'll reach a fork in the road. One way will take you across the bridge to the biosphere. The other will take you to Isle de Sores. If you're going to Isle de Sores make sure you have a lot of charge on your battery, it's best done as 2 separate trips, as you could easily run out of juice on your bike. - head down Berri toward the water. This time turn east and go along the coast. turn north at some point and head up to olympic stadium Rental Rates (July 2012): $15 for the 1st hour, $9 for each additional hour. Max: $55 per 24 hours. My parents, the bf, and I went to Montreal for the first time together. We wanted to see the city in a unique way. My stepdad suggested a Segway tour but I've been on so many Segway tours (yes, I'm a nerd) and I wanted to change it up. Electric scooter looked fun. My mom could not figure it out and I was nervous the whole time. Furthermore, the tour led us along very busy streets in Montreal and a lady almost wiped out my stepdad when she opened her car door unexpectedly. Other than that, the tour was fantastic. We went up Mont Royal and explored all around Jean Talon Market. Since we booked a private tour, we were able to customize the tour to focus more on food, yummy! Hands down, best decision ever! My best friend and I took a scooter tour here while visiting Montreal. We were lucky to get David as our tour guide, and even luckier that we chose an afternoon tour which happened to have no one else reserved on it! The tour started with a quick lesson on handling the scooters, then we were off! I can say with confidence, we saw Montreal in a day! David took us to all the tourist places and many of the not so tourist places. We let him know that we were super foodies and he brought us to all the best shops and stands for little known delicious treats, the market, Chinatown... So many places. He took pictures for us, and gave us time to go off on our own a few times. We felt like he molded the tour to our preferences. He also made sure the whole time that we felt comfortable and safe on the scooters and by the end of the tour we were whizzing between buses and cars better than the locals! On many occasions people came up to ask about the scooters themselves which are so easy to handle, don't require a license, are earth friendly and quiet. (Def want to buy one at home) to sum it up, I recommend the scooter tour fully, and can't wait to come back and do it again with my husband!! They were comfortable and quick - a massive upgrade from the Bixi bicycles, which are great for getting around, but I wouldn't recommend doing the entire Lachine canal on one! We did, and went exploring all around greater Montreal on these bikes, and they stood up admirably. This location deserves special mention, though, for their patience in dealing with some problems that arose due to mistakes made by my wife and I. My particular gaffe was losing my keys to the lock that comes with the bike. They sorted out the problem and got me a replacement key in no time flat, and didn't even give me a hard time. I spent Labor Day weekend in Montreal with my boyfriend. After spending our first day walking around, we nearly signed up for the double decker bus tour, but at the last minute decided to rent scooters instead. My girlfriend had a flat tire by the McGill sports center, and this was the closest shop on Google maps. We walked there and they fixed it for her right on the spot for 12$ in just a few minutes. Anglophone friendly - which is not a given in the Plateau! They are not only good for fixing bike, but also for renting - they have electric bikes that look like little scooters with pedals :). AMAZING The whole experience here was perfect. We had originally booked a regular two hour tour in the morning, but the weather ended up being pretty terrible at first. Luckily things cleared up, and we were able to change our tour to a private (2-person) tour later in the afternoon (luckily, the weather cleared right up!) The booking experience was easy and painless. Had everything arranged through email prior to arriving. No complaints at all. When we did arrive, Joelle met with us and went over all the details of the tour and what she needed from us. She was very friendly and answered all of our questions. She introduced us to our tour guide, Dave, who was awesome. He did such a great job showing us tips and tricks on the scooters, and totally put us at ease riding through the busy city. The tour itself was great - we got to see several different parts of the city and try a few different food items along the way. I will say, it was not 100% as I expected - I was thinking it'd be more of a historical thing - "This building on your right was built in the 1800s and blah blah blah blah"... Instead what we got from Dave, was a more modern take on things. He took us around to different parts of the city and explained the culture of how things were today, which as an American and Australian, was pretty fascinating. I enjoyed it much more than I would have enjoyed the historical tidbits. Both my wife and I have now decided we need to get scooters! We really enjoyed it that much.
