    Sexy scooters

We took the afternoon tour with David, and the moment we got to Dyad we knew this was the tour for us. IMPORTANT: This is not your plain average historical tour, this is a FUN tour! If you're looking for history and sound bites this may not be the tour for you. We weren't interested in history, we wanted to have fast-paced fun while seeing the city, this was the answer! David showed us how to use the scooter and prioritized safety in the initial training. I was confident under his guidance, it is important you pay attention to the steps he outlines. If you pay attention to his instructions, understand how to brake and ride with safety in mind, you'll have a great time. We went through Parc du Mont-Royal, downtown, Jean-Talon market, old Montreal, the port, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the jazz fest. We saw so much, I'm certain I'm missing a few places. There was enough time to stop at each place for a few moments, take photos (bring a comb for helmet hair) walk around and get a feel for each place. David pointed out great spots, gave us insight to each area, and gave us a better idea on how to get around the city. For sure, this tour helped us have a better sense of where we would come back to later on in our trip. For me, the tour alone was one of the highlights of our time in Montreal. By the end of the day we were FLYING through city and felt like a gang of bad-asses! The scooters are SUPER fun, more than you'd expect -- you may start thinking of getting one back home. It is surprising how much distance you clear in little time on these scooters. You can tell Dyad takes care of their machines. The scooters are swift, and catch the attention of people you zip by. I suggest to do this tour early in your trip instead of later, as you will end your tour with a better sense of where you may or may not want to revist and spend more time. We weren't planning on visiting the port at all but after David showed us the area we came back the next day and had a fantastic time. You can also rent the scooters later on, and this tour gives you enough training to feel confident to take the scooters out for a spin by yourself. Thanks so much to David and the great folks at Dyad, I highly recommend them, and we will definitely come back the next time we go to MTL! 10/10 would ride again!!

Our guide David after our fantastic trip

David was our guide and he was SPECTACULAR!! Gave us a wonderful tour of the city, the mountains, the expensive beautiful residential areas. Took us to the most unbelievable bagel store, where our bagel came right out of the open flame. I will never eat another bagel again without remembering these wonderful treats. I highly recommend this experience. I was a great way to see the city and beyond..

So worth it!!! Great way to see the city and a lot of fun. I went with my friends on a Sunday during our first trip to Montreal. Our tour guide, Pascoal, was friendly, informative and helpful. The owners and Pascoal even gave us recommendations on what to do for the rest of the day. 10/10

On the way to the top of Mont Royal!

The pacing of the tour was perfect, not too slow, not too strenuous. It is obvious that JF is deeply knowledgable about urbanism, bicycle culture, and the way our built environment impacts our experiences of life. The details he pointed out and the places he brought us are easily overlooked, but super interesting. It is rare to find someone who takes so little for granted in their home environment. This tour was not just a lesson about history and some neighborhoods of Montréal, but about how to observe the world around us. I would give six stars if possible. It did not hurt that the weather was perfect. If it had rained, probably only five stars. It was a fantastic three hours and a highlight of our visit to MTL.

Frederick, our guide, took eight of us over a 7 mile tour of some of the classic neighborhoods of Montreal. His love for his hometown truly shines. We took about three hours because he made a point of showing us some classic Montreal native spots such as an immense farmers market filled with luscious locally grow produce. If we were staying long enough to cook, I'd be heading straight back there tomorrow . Frederick is a certified guide and while his knowledge is near encyclopedic, he never drones. He always invites questions and made us laugh a lot. Ask him how poutine got its name. He created a perfect blend of peddling and savoring He spaced out our rest stops in such a way that we were never bored with resting and nor fatigued with pedaling.

The gentleman working in the shop was very kind and offered to have my bike ready by the end of the day as it was simply a problem with the chain (This came to a complete shock to me as I have often waited up to a week to have my bike fixed). He also offered to stay an extra 20 minutes after closing so I could stop by after work to pick it up. A+ for effort service-wise. The cost of fixing my bike was a bit steep I won't lie but I guess what can you expect when you get day-of service. Regardless, I am not sure that the work done was worth what I paid but this place was certainly good in a fix and I will negotiate better upon my next visit

He is very amicable and knows his bikes like a cowboy knows his horses. They also sell racing bikes, for those interested.

I held off on a negative review for nearly a year, giving the benefit of the doubt. I purchased a Schindelhauer bike from them and the online payment system calculated purchase and shipping (great price). This was a mistake with the payment system and I called the next day and we figured out shipping. The bike arrived damaged unfortunately. I took dozens of photos and tried to submit to ups directly. Unfortunately a damage claim has to be submitted by the shipper. This involved UPS and a shipping company they use called freightcom. Velo lifestyles blamed freightcom, so I reached out to freightcom.... They blamed velo... you see where this is going. Keep in mind this is nearly a year into this! I had an unusable bike until the manufacturer actually sent me a fender to mount. I originally had tried to bend the damage away from the tire to make the bike usable. I give credit to Schindelhauer for providing the part... it really wasn't their issue. Velo put it off so long I emailed Germany and got it myself! They now claim that they no longer ship to the United States due to shipping issues. I would avoid purchasing from this company due to a shady handling of the shipping claim. They seem nice on the phone and might be a good option if you pick up in person. I can speak to my experience with them. I would avoid any business that won't support their customers or stand behind a sale.
