Called the day before to get my bernedoodle Milo on for an ear problem. She told me to be there the next day between 8-9:00. Arrived at 8:45, was in the exam room 9:00. And they were extremely busy but efficient. They check and did a swab of his ears. He had bacteria and they treated him with care and patience. Dykes and Summerale is owned by same corporation & not as a veterinaryclinic anymore. 20+ year customer and both places are so unprofessional now. I had horrible experience at both places. Dr. Dykes was one of the best. It's unfortunate this company is ruining his practice. Our pets are not a commodity and how I was treated with such disrespect. Summerdale quoted me 75.00 office visit, but when I checked out they changed the office visit price from 75 to 225. I asked for a credit, they said no, even after admitting they quoted me 75.00 office charge. That is not how you run a business. That is false advertising. Dykes staff refused my dog to be seen as a walk in, 10 minutes is all he needed after being sick for several days after Dykes Veterinary did surgery. He ended up with 7 teeth extracted, they didn't give me a courtesy call to tell me and told me his kidney levels were elevated yet still did surgery when I picked him up. That " little elevation" costed me 700.00 with 4 Rx's after and an emergency clinic charge that was originally 75.00 charge. They did not honor their word. You are a number and its a about $$$ now. How sad, Dr. Dykes doesn't deserve that, he would never run his practice that way. He has such compassion for his animals & respect for the local people in our community...I'm disgusted & so disappointed by the lack of treatment & respect for not only myself but my pet. Heard Dr.Langston is good, looking elsewhere for a clinic that is quality not quantity. Going to miss Dr. Dykes. read more

The first time I went there my pup was treated by Dr. Dykes What an amazing, confidence, gentle soul. Just recovering from heart attack he was still the soul of congeniality and holy committed to his work. Now, with new owners, the staff seems wholly dedicated to making money, not caring about their clientele. It was one of the most expensive, and socially unsatisfying experiences I've ever had to simply take my dog to have his teeth cleaned. Will be looking for another place to go read more

I have been going to them for years since I first moved to Foley. Good vets. They just need a bigger office and parking lot . Sometimes they wait is long, but they stay very busy. The prices did go up when they sold and were no longer privately owned, but that happens everywhere. Dr. Dykes is awesome, though he will probably retire soon. The other vets in the practice are all good vets. As far as taking care of my animals. My two oldest cats are 17 and have gone there since they were 5 days old. The staff is always nice and I have never had any problems with any of the vets. read more

I know he is not suffering and we are grateful for that but the pain is awful. Absolutely do not recommend, my dogs stitches are very poorly put on and they left her bloody and in a lot of pain, they did not even give her a cone for her head so she wouldn't lick the stitches, they have very poor costumer service and I felt devalued and stupid when it came to my dog. Please read entirely. I have been a very long time client of Dr. Dykes for over 20 years and in the last few years and especially on my last visit the decline of the quality of care has become the quality of financial gain. The doctor I saw for a hematoma in my cats ear was beyond contradictory. I had told them she she had an issue with ear mites so they took a sample to look at. When the doctor came in she said that it wasn't ear mites but bacteria and yeast but Danerys would have to have her ear lanced and drained and it would be about $40. Now if I had been informed that the cost would be more I would been fine with that but I was not. When they brought my girl back to me they told me she was infested with mites and she had medication for it as well as to help with the hematoma. When I reached the counter and was told I owed over $225 I was flabbergasted to say the least. The worst part is my cat is absolutely no better so I called and they were apologetic and said they would waive the office visit buy anything else I would have to pay. I am BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. In years passed I had recommended Dr. Dykes to many many people but no longer will I do it. They have turned to financial gain instead of the proper care and commitment to the animals and their clients read more

I'm sad to have to give a bad review because at one time I experienced nothing but good from this vet office. Something has changed and after losing 2 pets under their watch I can no longer use their service. This is not an emotional response to the lose of those pets. This review is being made after experiencing 2 different times where my pets were taken to them and despite my best efforts both pets were not cared for in a timely manner and died painful deaths. My dog was diagnosed with back problems and 10 days later when they actually took the time to look at what was really going on with her a spleen tumor had ruptured in her abdomen and she went 10 days in pain and died. Despite my misgivings I went back 4 weeks ago with my sick cat. Hundreds of dollars later and back and forth to Dykes they finally checked his blood and urine and found he had a serious bladder infection and problems with his kidneys. So I wonder 2 weeks ago when his kept getting sicker why he had to die this morning. They appear to have way to much going on with the walk ins and the level of service has been compromised. My experience was with 3 different vets in this office and I don't want to slander their names. Just don't do what I did . I should have never gone back to them. read more

When I first got Chico as a tiny pup over a year ago & was in a store getting his supplies, I just mentioned needing to find a good vet for my new baby while talking the cashier, she referred me to Dykes. And when my Chico got into "something" which caused his face & eyes to swell, I called frantically knowing it was late, well after business hours. The on call doctor told me what to do & reassured me if it would make me more at ease, he would meet me at the clinic to check Chico out! Well, his advise did work & I didn't have to bring him in, but from then on, I knew without a doubt these were caring people! I only needed vaccines for my two dogs called Dykes and they willingly take walk-ins between 2 and 3 PM for only vaccines. The service was very friendly and very quick. The charges were very economical as well. The facility was very clean and all staff was extremely friendly, we will be back! read more

The vets here are good. Having said that. I have been here 4 times now Never less than a 45 minute wait in the lobby. By the time I see a vet and get the meds for my dogs, it is between an hour and a half to 2 hours before we leave. Today. I had a young lady at the front desk get totally disrespectful and talked down to me. I called one morning to ask about dropping off my parrot for a toenail, wing and beak trim. The lady who answered the phone told me if I could come in between 2:00 and 3:30 that afternoon, they would work me in. I got there at 2:10 and was told at the front desk that they were no longer taking drop-offs. This review is no reflection on the veterinarians in the practice, as they are said to deliver good pet care. Rather, I think it's very poor communications by the front desk people. I took my puppy here and I absolutely loved Dykes. My veterinarian took the time to talk to me and he was just as interested in my puppy as I was. They truly care here and have such affordable prices! Cheapest clinic I have been to by far. My puppy's spay was around $200 and I was very pleased with her treatment. On thanksgiving week I was able to get seen and get a nail trim immediately. We had to move due to being in the military, but we loved Dykes. read more

Dr. Walker is an outstanding doctor. He has cared for my 19 year old cat for the last five years. Monday was the day I knew would come but didn't want to ever see. He showed us the x-rays. He was honest and so very compassionate. He said he would do whatever I needed him to do and would treat my sweet Tuffy as his own. Words cannot express how grateful his compassionate manner was. A family member took 1 of her 4 labs in to be spayed.... she was healthy and full of life! They Mistook Her For Another Dog Then Euthanized her... no phone call no nothing... then the tech that made this mistake couldn't even own up to it and apologize in person!!! There Was No Remorse, Just "people make mistakes" so with a heavy heart she had to pick up her beloved animal and bury her at home... this SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED!!! no precautions, no fail safes, just out right incompetence on their part..FOR SHAME! read more

All the doctors in this office are wonderful. They have taken care of our numerous dogs, my elderly cat, and my son's turtles! My oldest dog prefers Dr Dykes, my stubborn puppy prefers Dr Shriver, the cat sees...well he's old and grumpy so he has to get gas to be examined, and the turtle prefers Dr Walker. Yes turtles have preferences. The ladies in front are very personable and professional. Colton did a great job keeping my stubborn rambunctious bull mastiff mix under control. read more

This is a fairly busy clinic, requiring some wait time. Given the quality of care by the veterinarians, I would gladly wait here before venturing to any other clinic in the area. My family and I have used this vet clinic for countless years, with several animals. These doctors genuinely care about mine and my family's animals. They have provided me with medical advice, medical treatments, and have even stood and cried with my family as we had to have our dog put to sleep. I have recently moved away from the area but still return to this clinic for advice and for medical treatments because I know that my animals will get the level of care that I expect from a good clinician. read more

I would give this place -stars if possible! I've never dealt with anything like this before! This is the saddest thing! My Son's Dog, Tucker, got out of the house and got hit by a car. My Mom rushed him to the Vet. Unfortunately, we were told that Dykes would be the best. Everything went great! My Mom was told she could pay $100 and make payments on the rest. We went to pick him up yesterday and was told we had to pay the whole balance before we could have Tucker. I told them I don't have it! They said "write a check" I don't have a checking account "go get it from a friend" My friends don't have $300 to just give me! I was then followed to the car and told that if I couldn't pay them, then they were going to call the police and have me arrested for abandonment! I've never seen a Vet so heartless and lowdown! I highly recommend him to anyone! I drove over an hour to get to his office and can say it was worth every minute!! My dog is doing phenomenal after surgery all thanks to the staff at dykes! We have brought our pets to David Dykes and Team for 29 years. Once in a blue moon we have used other local vets however we have always found ourselves coming back to Dykes. They maintain a compassionate and well equiped practice with a staff that goes out of their way to make everyone feel special. David and his carefully selected crew of Animal Lovers have watched over and cared for our Rhodesian Ridgebacks from birth to old age. We currently have 5 adults and 4 puppies. Thanks to Doc Langston, who is a Reproductive genuis we have been able to make the dreams of many carefully selected families come true. Knowing I can stop by or call and pick the brains of these exceptional Vets has greatly enhanced our adventure in owning a Show and Therapy Dog Kennel. We know our deeply loved dogs are cared for as if they belonged to the Team at Dykes. The Office was expanded and has a cheerful and spotlessly clean ambience and it is conviently located in the middle of town. We do not breed often, and when we do we know our puppy families appreciate the extent they go to when helping us put together our puppy manuals. Helping us include all health care information from their first visit to their ready to go home check up. Another local vet was used years ago when strongly suggested for Reproduction assistance. They managed to miss a heart murmur on one puppy in all of the many visits. At Dykes we do not need to worry that a casual approach will also equal mistakes or oversights. We can not give them any stronger praise than this, they have become a part of our family thanks to the exceptional love and care they give to every animal brought into their practice. read more

Update...I have since had several appointments with Dr. Dykes himself due to fostering a few pets. I have to say that I don't know who the vet was that refused to work with me financially that day, but I do know Dr. Dykes himself was out due to an Illness. His prices have been competitively cheaper in dealing with him, and the medications needed. I've also had Dr. Walker and Dr. Schreiber and they too have been awesome. read more
