It was a relaxing hour and when she was my skin felt soft and renewed. I booked a shampoo and blowout for my second visit a few weeks later. Hollie did a great job listening to what I wanted and I got one of the best blowouts I've had in a long time. My hair style lasted for days. Best part is all the services are very reasonable since it's a teaching school and they're practicing their skills for graduation. Check out Groupon as they have even better prices through there. They're eager to honor Groupon and for feedback. I've had nothing but great experiences with Elevate and hope to continue using them for a long time.

Yall, I walked into this salon with a hot mess of a hair color and low hopes. I had previously had…read moremy hair dyed bright red, covered it up with a brown that was too dark and then faded to this weird brassy color, which I tried to fix at home with DIY color remover, blue shampoo, and box dye. All this plus the fact that my natural color roots were growing in meant my hair was a mess. I called other salons and the color correction it needed was being quoted at $200+. So I figured I'd give Elevate Salon a try, figuring they couldn't muck it up any worse than I had done myself. I dont know how she did it, but Sara completely fixed my hair. She consulted with a couple of other people (I assume the teachers, I didnt catch their names), really critically evaluated the best color correcting strategy, and worked some magic. I ended up with hair that was not only pretty close to my natural color, but somehow still had depth and warmth and not a trace of red. Honestly, I couldn't be happier!

I have been going to Douglas J for months almost a year. Every two weeks, I have had several…read moredifferent stylists as one graduates they are kind enough to make sure I am placed with another one that is able to style my hair. So that I do not skip an appointment. Today as I am getting ready to go to my appointment, I receive a phone call saying that they have to "cancel/reschedule" my appointment due to my stylist would be a hour late and that would put her behind on all her other appointments. So this means I am unable to have my appointment but everyone else had theirs. So they tell me, I have to reschedule for another day which who knows when ( they did try to say they could squeeze me in tomorrow (Saturday), I already have plans during the time they stated. And all I got after that was a sorry that's all we can do. It's MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND!!! And it seems like they really had no concern about messing up my weekend plans. Oh, then I get a email stating that I canceled the appointment and I can reschedule. Which I did not they did.

I would put her name on here but she graduated a week after she did my nails so theres no point. But she did a great job on my fill in and I felt comfortable with her (which is rare because usually I feel like I can't fully relax getting my nails done for some reason). Its important to note that this is a school so you HAVE to have patience!! If you are the type that would die having to sit two hours to get your nails done, this isnt the place for you. Also, the ventilation is horrible and all nails are done downstairs in a dungeon lmaoo. I saw a girl get a pedicure done & they used a big bowl to soak her feet & had her sitting in one of those fold out chairs. I almost got a pedicure and was like nope because I want to be comfortable and able to relax!! Overall I would rate this place a 8/10 and I want to try getting my hair done here next so ill update this review if I do!

I booked my appointment, and made it in this morning. When you walk in, it's like every other salon and presents a professional appearance, which I liked. Everyone here's a student, and is supervised by a teacher while doing their stuff. I signed in and the girl walked me back to the spa room to prepare me for my facial. I really enjoyed my experience. I was there for about 2 hours total, and the experience was wonderful! Very relaxing. I got a good steam, masks, and a massage as well. the only thing I didn't get was extractions, since I have a whitehead on my face. LOL. I asked her about it and she said that they aren't trained in those tools yet, but if I made an appointment, I could get an instructor to do it for me. I kind of wish she would have just grabbed the instructor and had her do it then so I wouldn't have to make a second trip. I will be back in the future!

I am so disappointed in how they handled a situation and put the student to solve the issue with her own money and time. THEY DO NOT SUPPORT THEIR STYLISTS STUDENTS AND I WILL MAKE SURE THIS IS HEARD. This is a serious complaint for the Utica facility instructors!

I finally called them back and found it was Dorsey. I checked out a local community college and they had the same program for a lot less money and there was no aggressive sales pitch at all. Dorsey smells of desperation and greed.

Excited = YES Scared = YES I'm not gonna lie - i was very pleased at the results in the beginning but after a few days I started noticing some of the color wasn't fully covered. Please note - i was per-worried a little that sometimes the dreads are a little harder to covered. I had a section of my hair bleached and colored (purple) near the back of my head; I even gotten my washed fully at the end which i didn't know that was part of the process. The setup of the shop is pretty standard - my stylist turned on some music and other people walked in and out while my hair was getting done. I enjoyed the fact the stylist and customer(s) were very friendly; I also found out the stylists was very active in the city which is awesome. I only knocked off a star due the fact: i wasn't told i'll be leaving with wet hair (lucky it was nice out) and we had to go pick up the dye from beauty supply store. Other than that - I think this place is pretty good to me. I didn't feel pressured or awkward with the decision i made. (THUMBS UP!)
