*** updated***** I spoke to the Manager this morning and he said he would refund the $97 for the battery replacement. I will wait and see if that get refunded before updating my review. *************** Be careful taking your car here for repair. My car didn't start and I had it towed there for service. They say that they would charge me $200 for diagnostic. The first thing they told me was to replace the car battery. I told them the battery is basically new and just purchased 2 months ago. All they have to do is to recharge the battery and continue with the diagnostic. The fact that they would not do anything until I replace the battery tell me that they wanted to sell me a new battery. So, I went and took the old battery to Advance Auto and have it swapped out with a new battery and haul it back to Dynamic Auto. After swapping out the battery, the car still does not start. I told the mechanic that the gear shift is having some issues shifting to Park, and hence the car won't start until the gear is shifted to Park. He took notes and I went home after that. The manager, Stu, called me back and gave me an estimate of $3280 for replacing the shift cable. I declined the service and he told me on the phone that I would owe the shop $197 + tax for the diagnostic fee. When I get there, he then said I owe another $100 for swapping out the battery. The battery was not the issue, and it was misdiagnosed in the first place. In any case, I paid the shop and had the car towed to another auto shop that I know. Needless to say, that it costs me extra to tow the car twice. At the second auto shop, the mechanic took out the shift cable, clean it because it was gunk up with grease and dirt, and put it back and everything is working again. He charges me $110 for labor. Had I not taken my car to another auto shop, I would have paid Dynamic Auto $3280 plus $300 of diagnostic fee. I would never come back to Dynamic Auto again. This place is good for oil change only, for anything else do it at your own risk. read more

Stopped on my way home from work to get an oil change for my 2018 equinox. I was due for an oil change and the automotive technician was excellent and got me in right away. I did remove two stars for the cost of the service, and the time the service took. I arrived around 8AM and I did not leave until after 10 AM. Just for an oil change and to have my tires rotated. When I arrived, my car went in right away. The time it took for this oil change is way longer than it should take. Also, I do have to mention the price does seem quite a bit higher than other places. Each service that they do they add on labor as well. All the technicians were very friendly and very professional. I would go back again. Stu got me checked in pretty quick. There is a nice waiting room with a restroom as well. I find it crazy that this place charges you for labor on changing a filter when it is part of the inspection. I wish some of these charges would have been upfront. The base price for my oil change was around $82( have never seen it this HIGH for just the oil change especially when I get oil changes every couple months and all the other services are unnecessary) tire rotation $30 my air filter $55 the cabin air filter $60 and taxes and supplies another $20. Totaling for around just under $250. Just be aware, if you go to get your oil changed how long it may take and the cost. They did also take five dollars off. These guys really did right by me. On a dark and stormy Wednesday night, I was driving from Germantown to Frederick when my engine light started flashing and the Jeep started shaking. Scared me half to death. Luckily the gas station I had just passed let me keep my Jeep there overnight. I brought it to the closest shop on Thursday afternoon. I don't know how these people are going to treat me. I don't know how good their work was. But they were the closest, so I went. I dropped off my Jeep, which is also half of my home, and went to a hotel. I was worried because I had hoped to leave town on Sunday morning. And I made it. They had my car ready by Friday at closing. And I could tell the difference immediately. I was able to pay online and pick up my car after hours. As an Uber/Lyft driver I take car maintenance very seriously. When you put 35,000 miles on your car (at least) annually, you want to use people you can trust and rely upon. I trust the guys at Dynamic with my car! For routine oil changes and tire rotations to the more complex issues. I get my oil changes done here instead of places like Jiffy Lube as I trust a certified mechanic to bring to my attention, issues that may cause a break down. A break down for me is damaging to my reputation. In a job where reputation is everything. They estimate the cost of repairs and are on the ball. They often come in at under the estimate when the job is done. I've witnessed them repair customers cars at no cost. Ok it was a small repair but the customer was worried about her skid plate hanging down and grating along the road. A less honest business could have charged her. But they rebolted it in free of charge. They also rehung the skirt on my wife's Prius. Again they could have charged her. They didn't! I don't see where another reviewer (only one review and that was negative) could say the guys here are sleazy. They are polite and respectful. And again they give an estimate of the cost of repairs and replacing plain bulbs. I'd question her honesty myself. Happy to do business with Dynamic! read more

I have no words really how much I appreciate the staff here. On 5/29/24 I was driving on 270 in heavy rain when the windshield wipers on my Equinox suddenly stopped working. I had no choice but to pull over on the shoulder. It appeared that the rain was not going to slow down so I had no choice but to drive the best I could safely to the nearest exit which was Urbana. personally I knew of no mechanic shops in this area so I took my chances. I saw the Dynamic Automotive sign and went directly there. I explained to the gentlemen the issue I was having and they took my car right in. After checking everything they stated I needed a whole new windshield wiper unit, however because it was late afternoon the part would not be in until the following day. I had no way of leaving my car and getting a ride home with my very large dog that was with me. It was then that Stu came to my rescue and offered me a take home car to take and bring back the following day to pick up my personal vehicle. To Stu and the entire staff, Thank you for going above and beyond the norm with all your support and customer service and getting me back on the road. I was in the shop with my car about 2 months ago. Paid 500.00 for a dye test that was not performed on my car. I know this because they told us our car needed 5,000.00 worth of work. So I took it to another repair shop for a second opinion. The other repair shop said, no dye test was done and the repairs needed were 1200.00. I went back to Dynamic in Urbana, Maryland to explain about the dye test and wanted a refund. They admitted they never did a dye test and dropped the ball. Be careful and take your car in for a 2 nd opinion before trusting them. They refunded my money and stated they would not service my cars anymore. I think that is crappy customer service. read more

I've had two experiences at Dynamic Automotive, and both of them are positive. Most recently, I noticed a flat tire on my 2021 Model Y. I feared that the fix would be expensive and require a visit to a Tesla Service Center or the use of Tesla Roadside Assistance. Instead, the wonderful folks at Dynamic Automotive took our car into the garage four minutes before closing and patched the hole made by a nail they discovered. Less than $40 and 30 minutes later, we were on the road again. Oh - did I mention that this was the day before Christmas Eve? There are some kind souls who work here. Mark looked it over and realized when I did the fuel filter a few days ago I didn't tighten it (filter housing)up enough. In about an hour I was back on the road. My family and I have been going to this place for years in Urbana and they try to get money out of you and say bs things about your vehicle. I went there to get an estimate for my mirror. They said it was going to be $800-$900. I did not go for that price and had my bf's dad replaced it for $125. They even tried to get 10k out of us with a few car parts. However, a young man, at the front desk, who was responding to multiple phone calls while I was still talking to him, was very rude and obviously lacking skills in customer service, and therefore requires additional training to handle customers appropriately. The bottom line: stay away from this place. They charge dealership rates and attempt to convince you that your vehicle requires extremely costly unnecessary repairs. I've used Dynamic for two things and they were amazing in both instances. First, for an auto inspection, where my car didn't initially pass. The man at the desk explained the exact situation to me and what I could do to get my car to pass. They could fix it there, but it was something my husband could fix and we would still save money, even with paying their re-inspection fee. After the fix, they did the re-inspection super fast and had me on my way. I was very happy with their speed and honesty, and also enjoyed the amenities in their beautiful waiting room. Second, I needed tow new tires due to late night accident. I was able to have my car towed to their lot and drop off the keys so they could look at it in the morning. They called me first thing the next day to discuss options for new tires. They had tires that matched my other tires and a great price. The tires were installed and they even did a free alignment. Evidence of this is the waiting area stocked with popped popcorn and cold drinks at no cost. Service techs are knowledgeable and provide good advice for the novice to expert driver. Phenomenal service. Brought my 2021 Rav 4 in for an oil change and state inspection. Made an 8am appointment (highly recommended, just go to their website, fill out a brief services questionnaire and you will be emailed within minutes). I showed up at the door at 7:55 and was immediately greeted and given an exact timeframe for the services I requested. It was a nice morning so decided to get some work done on picnic benches provided. Went inside just to relax on the couches in their wait room. TV, coffee, water, Gatorade, and kids zone are all available. Can you get that a Jiffy Lube or neighborhood Exxon? Was in and out swiftly and the cost of services were consistent with that of several other auto service providers. Huge difference is the staff, quality of work, appointments offered, and location. They said they checked the tire pressure at no additional charge, but I still had to add air to two tires at the 7-11. This may seen like a poor review, alas, it seems quite typical. I have had 3 very positive experiences with Dynamic. They are truly a neighborhood gem. The service is fast, courteous and you can trust them not to gauge you. I had a check tire light in for weeks after understanding it was a gauge issue. I took it in, they saw me right away, took a look, reset my gauge and sent me on my way.... free of charge. They could have ran "diagnostics" patched a fake hole or sold me new tires. Nope. Reset, you're set and free to go. My bf had a nail in his tire as we left for the airport to catch a flight. They took him in immediately, patched and sent him in his way. We made the flight. It's difficult to find a business with a sense of community, fair, honest and amazing service. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone needing vehicle maintenance items, like a simple oil change, to more complicated mechanical engine issues, along with an excellent car wash. The pricing was more competitive than I had even hoped for and the quality of the work done both on my car and through the car wash was top notch. Furthermore, and equally as important to me, the staff was courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. The environment was clean and it felt comfortable to be there. Stu Page, the manager, runs a tight outfit and went out of his way to work with me on getting the best prices for the services I required. Although this is 15 miles from where I live, there is no question that I will continue to have my regular vehicle services done here. It is well worth the drive to find a shop with people who you feel that you can trust with the recommendations always made by mechanic when you bring it in even for a simple oil change. Stu was straightforward with me about the things his mechanic noted and never once pressured me to add any extra services or to buy anything. As I left, I asked him if there was anyone I could speak to to let them know how pleased I was with my experience and he simply said that he would be appreciative if I wrote about my experience on any social media site. I have absolutely no doubt that if I brought my car to Stu, I could trust his diagnosis and that the pricing would be reasonable. That, to me, is priceless when it comes to finding trustworthy mechanics. As a consumer I would think that they would disclose all fees up front but finding out I paid $60 for labor for a half hour at work is ridiculous. On my way this morning from Arlington VA to Harpers Ferry WV in my 2006 BMW 325i, at about 9:30, an engine trouble light went on (with an accompanying bell), informing me that one of my tires was already deflated or becoming deflated. I exited within a few minutes from I-270 to find a garage to troubleshoot the problem, and by mere chance ran directly into Dynamic Automotive. This could not have been a happier coincidence for me or the car. I was greeted and treated warmly by the Customer Service Manager, Jason, and quickly written up so that the car could be turned over to the Service Manager, Stu. With the best of intentions, Stu - and his very able staff, whose names I regret not getting - proceeded to determine if the flattened tire could be repaired. Unfortunately, there were two punctures and the tire could not be saved. Stu then proceeded to make numerous phone calls to find the exact tire to replace the bad one. He must have spent close to an hour on a number of calls, with numerous "please hold" comments on the other end, before finally locating a tire, going to a competitor's shop to pick it up, and see that it was properly installed, with no detail left undone. And while managing these tasks, he found time to come up with a large Milk Bone treat for my little dog to chew on, thanks to Stu's intrepid use of a hammer to make small pieces for the little guy. All of that completed and I was on my way. In summary, a very fair price (particularly given all of the overhead I incurred to get just the right tire) and truly extra-mile, outstanding service. They have gone above and beyod expectations and are like the Cheers bar for automotive service. I had a transmission line burst and my SUV caught fire on a Friday morning around noon. Dynamic Auto in Urbana was recommended to me by a family member and not only did they have it towed to their shop in less than 2 hours, I picked it back up on Saturday afternoon, 24 hours later! Realistically, I know that it isn't always possible to have car repairs of this magnitude done in such a short time period. However, the fact that they made it a priority to get it done since they could (instead of sitting on it until the following week like all other auto repair companies would) shows their dedication to their customers. The fast response from the tow company they called for me also shows the respect that their affiliates have for them and the quick turn around so I could pick it up the next day shows the high level of dedication their employees have. They took care of everything for me and as a busy mom of 3 kids, this greatly reduced the stress of having a vehicle emergency. Dynamic Auto in Urbana, MD - RIP-OFF My son dropped off his Honda for squeaky breaks, oil change, and "check engine" light. Supposedly, the mechanic, Kevin who took in the car reviewed the charges associated with the three items along with whatever they discover. My son is 19, and according to Kevin, he went over a lot of information, one in particular was the cost of "check engine" light and checking the break pads. Upon completing this test, which most people know if you've ever had your car serviced, that testing the "check engine" is a simple computer based test that usually doesn't take long to get the diagnostics. Additionally, I have never in my life of having my cars repaired, have had to pay for the test and having breaks checked regardless of approving that shop to continue with the work. According to Kevin, my son verbally agreed that he would pay $120 + $49.50 = 169.50 when he dropped off the car. I wasn't there, so I don't know the whole story, but regardless as to who's telling the truth, the fact that a contract was never signed on this charge, and accepted a verbal agreement from a teenager is sketchy. Please keep in mind the mentality of a 19 year old male who didn't understand the explanation provided to him, and Vn all fairness, if my son was told specifically, "YOU ARE VERBALLY CONSENTING TO PAY $169.50 regardless of the outcome, then maybe he would have called me to ask, as he did once the diagnostics were completed. Nothing was agreed on paper. Needless to say, when I tried to talk to Kevin and the Manager (who's name escapes me), the manager wouldn't budge. A decent professional manager would have automatically taken the charges off or have offered something in exchange to satisfy a customer for repeat business. This manager came out defensive and told me flat out that there was nothing he could do because it was company policy. All this manager wanted to do was to blame my son for agreeing to pay $169 for a diagnostic test and to check the brakes. He continued by complaining to me, if he didn't charge for these diagnostics, how will his mechanics get paid???? Ludicrous! I have never in my entire 30 years of having auto work done, had to pay to diagnose a problem. Who in their right minds would pay for a simple test to diagnose the problems? He claims that everyone does. What a shame that people actually fall for this because there are plenty of other auto repair shops (in the interest of moral issues) who would not make that a policy, therefore, I consider this a scam. There was clearly a misunderstanding on the part of my son and Kevin. Consequently, Dynamic should have offered to fix this misunderstanding, rather than argue and cut me off every time I spoke. He wanted confrontation from the time he met me and that is exactly what he got. I would like to know what local auto company in this area would charge $120 for a diagnostic test? AND $49.50 to check the brakes. The actual work was never performed, and as a previous customer of Dynamic, you made a terrible decision because there was a 90% chance that I would have brought the car back for you to repair. Urbana Location--I wouldn't return here. My 2001 Ford Focus was smoking and overheating. I was told the brakes needed to be replaced, for which Dynamic charged me $980. After finding out from others this was an "outrageous" fee, they decided to lower the fee to $800. The DAY I got my car back, I drove it approximately 24 miles and it died again. AAA said the engine was actually completely shot. Dwayne, an owner of Dynamic, refused to give me any amount of a refund, claiming that the car "wasn't doing that" when it was at their shop for almost a week, this had to be unrelated, it wasn't foreseeable. All this and they let me sink $800 into new brakes for a car that is now scrap metal, without even a partial refund (clearly I think they missed something, clearly they are claiming they didn't). read more

We just moved to Urbana about a year ago and I've been coming to Dynamic for our oil changes ever since. I had a guy down in the airpark in Gaithersburg but that's proven to be too inconvenient nowadays. The staff here is always helpful and never pushy when it comes to the service they provide. They are very knowledgeable and make sure that they take the time to explain anything they may find during an inspection of your vehicle. The best part is that they never guilt you into any additional service as some other shops may do. You've seen the horror stories on the news shows lately about mechanics pushing services that aren't even REAL.
