Rented and moved in about 2 months ago. I like this community very much. Its quiet and seems…read morequiet all of the time. My unit, though, has been quite cold. I'm in a corner unit and the cold winter temps this season have caused freezing cold temps in the condo. Have analyzed and resolved some of the issues, which are no fault of the condo association, just things that happen after the fact. Building management (Candee) and assistant manager (Corina) are excellent and really help the residents with questions and concerns and setting up for moves. Corina and the weekend desk folks are wonderful in scanning packages and letting the residents know via email that there is something waiting for us to pickup. Haven't experienced the pool yet as I moved in during the winter and its not yet open. Have walked through the clubroom and it is very nice. The gym is a nice feature, even though there aren't a tremendous amount of machines, it is still a nice touch. The pet policy of not allowing pets to walk through the lobby is a little weird. It makes the community seem like it is not pet/dog friendly. My dog is a registered service dog, so that differs from the pet policy in the lobby. Still, I try to adhere to the rules and regulations for the building itself. It is wonderful being next door to the Westin. They have a nice wine bar and patio, and I have been told the music on the patio is amazing and they have a very nice happy hour. I learned shortly after moving in that the Westin has a special price for Mercer residents if we should need to stay there for any reason. The Westin/Sheraton have a shuttle to Dulles airport and other local drop-offs. Mercer residents are welcome to use that shuttle. Parking for residents is excellent. At least with my unit rental, I have the ability to have a single space for my car in the garage, as well as a storage unit. The storage unit is extremely helpful. Lastly with regards to parking, Mercer has 50 spaces in the Westin garage on the lowest level to use for visitors or if you have a second vehicle for your unit. Its very nice that Mercer pays for these visitor spaces. Overall, this is a well run community. Everyone is friendly from maintenance to staff to the property manager and residents. Again this place is QUIET! I've seen bulletins to keep the noise down, but that must be in another area of the complex because I haven't heard or seen any commotion to complain about. I may look to purchase a unit here when my lease is up. That's how much I enjoy living here! Highly recommend if you can get in, I think you'll love living here as much as I do.

Unit was completely different in both cleanliness and disrepair from when it was viewed until start of my lease - I was then told that *I* had to submit a repair request. It is the 4th day of my lease and I am unable to park and stay here because I was just notified that a request needed to be made to the condo association for a parking permit. Lease asks the tenant to have a professional cleaning service at move-out, but the condition I was provided is very unacceptable with grease/food stains in kitchen walls, counter is coming apart, almost every single wall has multiple nail holes and large marks, and the dining room light fixture is hanging from the ceiling with wires revealed.

This company has two of the best service professionals you will ever have the pleasure of working with, Barbara and Cathleen. They have healed our wounds. The experiences that I have had with them over the last couple of years have been the polar opposite of all of the experiences I have had in the past. Some of their attributes include but are not limited to immediate service response with high-quality providers, follow-up phone calls, and personal involvement to ensure that things were done the way they were supposed to. I experienced constant flooding and sewage leaking from the kitchen sinks (yep, 2 sinks), giant sized insects invading our space, decaying floor boards from water damage, 3 years of uninterrupted mold and mildew, the need for a dehumidifier requiring 4 buckets of water to be dumped daily, and the last stray was a bathroom ceiling leaks flooding the unit requiring a 1 month stay in the hotel paid for by my insurance and I still had to pay the rent for my unit. During those 3 years, I suffered terribly from respiratory problems for the first time in my life. No empathy shown by the leasing agent or landlord for the major and myriad inconveniences. Upon returning to the unit in addition to the floor repairs they used substandard contractors to paint the walls. During my stay at the hotel (on my insurance's dime, mind you despite paying the full month's rent DURING it's renovation) I was not notified that the walls would be painted until AFTER the work was done, nor was my artwork removed from the walls prior to painting. The substandard painters merely painted around my artwork. Essentially their substandard painting contractors sealed the damage free adhesive to the walls with the paint making the artwork impossible to remove without damaging the wall. Moreover, the substandard contractors also painted over the back door sealing it shut. Upon move-out, the property management company wanted to penalize me for the damage caused by their own substandard painters shoddy work, since there're still holding on to my security deposit. Avoid renting through this "property management" company at all costs

Whenever anything was broken and we submitted a maintenance request, it was addressed quickly. Nothing remained broken for long. John even came over and replaced the batteries on the smoke detector when I couldn't figure out which one was low and the beeping wouldn't stop. Our microwave broke and I messaged John and it was replaced within a few days. In my experience Scout Properties is a great property management company. They are reliable, responsive, nice human beings. It was a pleasure to have our home manager by this company. John's the best!

I'm not sure Victor ever really knew who we were and I can't be sure he ever visited the apartment before things really went to crap. He completely missed a major toilet leak--even after the tenant moved out--which left us with a cumulative $5,773.14 water bill. Then Scout didn't handle the tenant's voucher renewal properly, with no warning to us, which made the tenant move out early and cost us rental income. Even worse, we've now been stuck for several months without a tenant and have had to cover all the turnover costs ourselves. Despite that, Scout still charged their full management fees while barely responding to us. All of a sudden, Scout dropped us as clients (including our neighbors who were clients also), kept the fees, and stopped returning calls. Our next‑door neighbors had the same experience -- and told us their tenant was even offered an apartment at another property managed by Scout. Everything started fine but turned into one expensive, stressful mess. Don't hire Scout Properties unless you want poor communication, big bills, and months of lost rent.

I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. I give them my highest recommendation!

Simply based on the method of contact per their website and the return reply I received initially through a weird call and then through text, my confidence in the company shattered quickly. I already knew it wouldn't be a tough job yet still needed help. I wanted to see whether they really are interested in providing service to those genuinely in need rather than only cherry-picking high yield jobs. The result? They failed in their interest to help as well. Zero follow-up...and I mean completely vacuous! From the scary observation of the drive up to my home & carelessly blocking my neighbor's driveway when parking...to the cold fish & flippant reply to a simple comment and inquiry while I explained the brief history of the issue, I remained completely unimpressed by this company. I am thankful that I was able to dodge a bullet when they failed to follow up because if they only demonstrate preferential selection for jobs (and wasting a customer's time when they have no intention of taking the job in the first place), then I say to you, the customer valiently doing your due diligence, be very cautious if selecting this company to do the work with which you need help. They may have been great at what they did during the company's prime years for some customers, however, now at the time of this writing, if you are a fan of both customer service and quality work, perhaps search elsewhere. If the company does not show well in their initial interaction, and in this case, following their second chance, they're likely not going to show well the rest of the time. Will at House Call Contracting was able to rearrange his schedule to be at our house within two hours, and he coordinated and oversaw the effort to fix the problem over the following three days. In addition to being able to fix anything, Will is responsible, courteous and shows up ON TIME!!! I really can't imagine ever using another plumber/contractor.
