From chores to cooking - staying in the house aids you with important life & interpersonal skills. The scope of The Clinical Director and the staffs understanding of this field is profound. They handle life in the present and only looks's ahead. Scottsdale Providence provides empathy, a sophisticated set of interpersonal skills, acts with a sense of urgency, constructive self-insights and encouragement. The staff helped me build a structured treatment plan to initiate helpful growth, strength and a realistic recovery. Although the action is up to you, the therapists equip you with a foundation full Of resources to build upon. They work on your inner strengths and challenge your weaknesses. They offer constructive feedback and are quick to tell you what you need to hear - not what you want to hear. The staff overall truly have your best interest at heart and want to see you succeed. They provided me with a sense of care and safety in being vulnerable. The staff is efficient in they're approach and steadfast to being consistent & professional. Thus far, treatment here has been a remarkably empowering and fortifying experience. They're recognition and approach have pulled me up from darkness into an optimistic state. Going to treatment here has given me hope, direction, and the opportunity to identify what I need to do to live a sober life. Recovery is possible (if you want to be sober) and being a client here has given me that chance. Scottsdale Providence has offered me a life-changing experience; that will put me back on the path to a positive, healthy, and sober life I so dearly have in front of me. My personal belongings including my electronics and wallet were immediately taken and I was unable to leave the property. Staff members personal cell phones are used to discuss personal, psychiatric, and medical information. Information that is protected under law is no longer safe as that information could be seen and sent to anyone. Appointments with medical and psychiatric doctors are held online and are overheard by other clients and staff. Conversation between staff regarding protected medical information is also often over heard by clients. There is absolutely no privacy. Videos and photos of myself and other clients were shared on staff personal cell phones without my knowledge or consent. There is absolutely no privacy when you are able to contact loved ones, medical providers, or legal representatives, as a member of staff listens to your conversations. Rules, policies, and procedures that were posted were changed when I pointed out several of the laws and policies that staff was not adhering to. The schedule that was posted was not followed, then changed when I asked about not being able to attend scheduled meetings, groups, and activities. There is no access to phone "privileges". There is a black out period when you initially check in, phone times then scheduled from 4pm to 730pm 3 times a week unless in groups or other "activities", and if there is a member of staff available to listen to the conversation. Often times "phone time" was denied. I had requested to call doctors office to cancel upcoming appointments and was denied for 3 days. Was denied access to check email and make calls in regards to FMLA and legal matters. I have also had extreme stomach issues since arriving at Sequoia and taking all prescribed medications. I had requested to contact a doctor several times a day for 4 days before access was given. Medication management is neglected. I was not given antibiotics and other medications as prescribed on multiple occasions. There is no holistic approach to treat clients as advertised. Was prescribed at 7 new medications during my stay there. Refusing medications was considered to be a "punishable offense". There is very limited "treatment" is actually offered. This included group therapy for several hours a day and one individual therapy session per week. I was able to attend one AA meeting in a 3 week period and one hike during that time considered to be recreational therapy. The treatment services are completely misrepresented on their website. My insurance was fraudulently billed for treatment I never received. A copy of medical records, all signed documents during my stay, and itemized billing information was requested. That request was denied and was never sent to me. I was was also called a "dick" by a behavioral health technician and disrespected on multiple occasions by several staff members. I over heard staff talking badly about myself and other clients on several occasions. Other clients can also attest to witnessing me being treated differently, singled out, and targeted due to lgbtq discrimination. There is also a "24 hour hold on all personal belongings". So although this was a place I went to on my own free will and checked in voluntarily, I was not given permission to call anyone for a ride home and was told if I wanted to leave, I could walk home without my wallet, cell phone, or any other personal property. I was told this at 1030pm, in 40 degree, rainy weather by the "director of operations".

Not just is Dr. Fitzpatrick a wonderful psychiatrist but the management of the office and practice as a whole is top notch. Dr. Fitzpatrick is attentive, caring, kind, and practical. She really listens to all of the symptoms and side effects from medications that you're taking and is great at working with you and your experiences to find a solution that is workable for your life. She will remember little details about your life, even those that are unrelated to your treatment. You can tell she really cares about you as a person, and not just a customer. While she's willing to prescribe the medications you need, she also is very supportive of talk-therapy and doesn't see meds as a fix-all. But what's most incredible about this practice is the management of the office. I have been to many psychiatrists where the office staff never returns phone calls, or leaves you on hold indefinitely, or doesn't send in prescriptions on time, etc. This can be debilitating for those of us who are on medications with a short half life that can have crippling side effects if you miss a dose. At Dr. Fitzpatrick's office I always get to speak to an actual human if I call during office hours. If I leave a voicemail with the nurse I will actually get a call back in the next 24 hours responding to my concern. Scheduling and billing is never an issue, and I've never had delays with getting my prescriptions sent over or refilled. In a world where poor office staff can make a great psychiatrist's practice a nightmare, Dr. Fitzpatrick's practice is the best of the best. Please do not sleep on this gem if you're looking for a psychiatrist in the Phoenix area. (also: I was never a formal patient of Dr. Parker but on one occasion I was dealing with a bad medication side effect and Dr. Fitzpatrick was out of the office so Dr. Parker was willing to call me back and let me know what some of my options were, given a quick review of chart. I really appreciated that)

[Dr. Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, MD, is board certified in general psychiatry with a special interest in mood and anxiety disorders.] She met me in the lobby herself, took me to her office, and reviewed my medical history as illustrated in documents that were faxed weeks ago from my former provider who is located in Flagstaff. She also listened to me, took notes, and asked me questions. As a result of her in-office assessment, she realized I wasn't quite at the proper dosage of my current medication, so she increased the dose. In addition, she provided me with a new prescription in order to treat another symptom that has (re)surfaced. Dr. F stated that obtaining the correct diagnosis/label is NOT as important as getting the prescription therapy right. In collaboration with my counselor and me, she will be managing my medication from this point forward. I couldn't settle my co-payment today, so her office has allowed me an extension where I may pay over the phone at a near future date. How accommodating! So far, so good !!! Long version: I was originally apprehensive because I couldn't find any reviews for Dana, and when I saw she worked 16 years as a midwife I worried she would be like some of my previous psychiatrists/doctors who made me feel uncomfortable about not wanting children or about being gay. But I really needed an appointment ASAP and she was the soonest available so I went out on a limb and I am sooo glad I did. Dana was absolutely wonderful. I have very bad anxiety and find it difficult to talk to people and I'm easily put off, but Dana was incredibly easy to talk to, kind, understanding, and she made me feel comfortable right away. I never felt judged, dismissed, or pressured. I felt listened to and respected, which made a huge difference. You can really tell she cares! I highly recommend paperflower to anyone. After being dismissed after ineffective and inaccurate IQ testing in the public school system, we conclusively found that both our boys should be in a gifted program. Now, they are both thriving - our older son enjoys his cluster program and our younger son is excited for school in a self-contained program. We also came back for additional testing, and found that they are 2e. Now, instead of banging our heads against the wall trying to articulate our challenges to therapists and teachers, we have thorough, concrete test results to back up our hunch that their intelligence was offsetting some underlying challenges. We have a plan to pursue programs at Beljan that will develop compensatory skills and get them the support they need. Dr. Beljan was conscientious with our time and budget, and he spent time before testing to talk to us and really get to know our kids without making assumptions, and then thoroughly reviewed test results and his evaluations with us so that we could understand his findings and explore the best solutions for our kids.
