Actually both of my parents had received coaching from Josefa years before me, and it helped them immensely. When I began my journey with her I wasn't sure what to expect, but it has had a significant impact on my healing journey. About a year after I began coaching sessions, my wife started going also. Troy Stone is one of the better counselors I've been to. He is honest, calls you on your BS, relatable, and has plenty of examples. He will chat about your day-to-day stuff but he always pulls it back to - what is your goal and what is the science behind it (love language, attachment theory, trauma, etc.). Other MFT counselors I've gone to barely touch on such subjects which greatly hinders long term fixes - to fix what is wrong today you must understand where you came from. If you simply talk about what pissed you off last week and never touch on why or what happened to you in the past that predisposed you to those emotions... then you're just spinning your wheels.

I was losing myself and my way, just barely able to try and meet everyone else's needs, completely unaware of my own. I didn't want to fade away, but I knew for my heart and mind to engage I would need a good therapist. I read Carol's profile, and immediately knew she was the one. Her approach took into consideration sensitive people. In life I have been misunderstood by many. I was so often referred to as "sensitive". I tried to push this aspect of my personality, the deep feeling and thinking, down until I could just communicate on the surface. Looking back over the last 10 months I realize that Carol has respectfully guided me to a place where I can honor who I am and find a way to live in harmony with others in my life. It's a tricky balance, and I'm still working on it, but I have made progress. For over two weeks, I repeatedly tried to get a clear answer about whether I could receive a short bridge prescription to get me to an upcoming appointment with a new provider. When it became clear a refill might not be possible, I specifically asked for guidance on how to safely stop the medication. That guidance was never provided. Being left without direction regarding mental health treatment is unacceptable. I chose to leave this practice because I did not feel listened to by Dr. Westbrock. Diagnoses were mentioned without explanation, alternative causes were not meaningfully explored, and my concerns were largely dismissed. When I asked about further evaluation, I was told it would require several additional appointments and approximately $800 in fees, after already paying for the visit I was attending. The process felt more focused on billing than patient care. After securing a new provider, I contacted Lighthouse weeks in advance because I knew I would run out of medication before that appointment. I made it clear that I understood if a refill was not possible and that I was simply asking for guidance. Despite multiple attempts, my requested were ignored by Dr. Westbrock. Even after being told by the medical assistants this bridge refill should have been possible. Lighthouse medical assistants have reached out and apologized on behalf of the team. They stated the issue was with Dr. Westbrock and said that if I wanted a bridge now, three weeks later, they could forward me to the director. I appreciate the medical assistants who attempted to help every time I called. However, this situation should have been escalated to leadership much earlier, and at the end of the day Dr. Westbrock is employed by this office and his actions reflect the office. Overall, this experience left me feeling dismissed and unsupported at a critical moment in my care. The only reason I chose 2 stars instead of 1 was the medical assistants consistently trying their best. It is disappointing they are not listened to by their superiors. I am sharing this so others can make an informed decision when choosing providers.

She mixed up the co-pay amount for me and months later came back to tell me I owed money once I no longer had insurance. Carmen would call and leave voicemails threatening that if i didn't pay collections would take over. We played back and from phone tag before I didn't hear back from them. Fast forward 8 MONTHS. I hear back from them about the remaining balance. It sounds to me that they are not on top of the co-pay or remaining balance due. It shouldn't take months. I would be sure to be very clear when it comes to the payment due so that you do not get screwed over as I did. I hope they have gotten better since my situation.

During the call, I was on my way driving to work but Ling was sure patience enough to listen to me and gave me some information regarding what she does, recommended hypnotherapy and schedule me to come in to see her. So far I have gone through 3 sessions with her and she made me realize, opened up my mind and educated me on thinking more positively. It's important to find a right fit when you are going through a difficult time so you can get the best help in your situation. As I entered I was warmly greeted and directed to my cousin's room. The front entry way was clean, organized and well lit. His room was close to the front. It's a 2 person room- the room was small with a bathroom and a curtain as a divider. Both sides have a bed, tv, phone, night stand, chair and a wardrobe closet. The room was clean when I went. While there, I observed the nurse and 2 students come in to administer antibiotics intravenously. They introduced themselves, explained what they were doing and asked if we had any questions. They were friendly and communicative. Before I left, I used the public restroom. It was very clean. Now here is what the patient (my cousin) has shared with me- " all of the staff- CNA's, nurses, nurse practitioner, etc are very competent and nice. I have a wound that needs attention daily and at 7am every morning they attend to it. They use gloves and maintain a clean environment for me. All of the staff have checked on me, asked if I need anything and offered assistance. The social worker is easy to reach and I've left messages for the provider and she gets back to me in a timely manner. I have nothing bad to say. It's an awesome facility. A place I will return to if the need arises. The food is good- serving portions are smaller than what I'm used to but I'm sure I'm used to overeating. Overall I am quite pleased with the way I've been treated"

My grandmother stayed at this facility for approximately two weeks. She is unable to walk or lift…read moreanything on her own, let alone unpack a suitcase. When I dropped off some of her belongings, everything was packed neatly in one suitcase: her nightgowns, slippers, bibles, her toiletries, and a few familiar comfort items from home. A few days later, I received a distressed call from her saying that her things had been thrown away and she had nothing left. Given her memory challenges, I called the facility for clarification. I was met with a dismissive and unprofessional response from a male staff member who said, "She has her things, and it's a lot of them," in a tone so indifferent it felt like I was being brushed off for even asking. I trusted the facility to tell me the truth and to help make sense of what my grandmother was experiencing. Instead, they used her memory issues, and my own understanding of them, as a shield to avoid accountability. When she was transferred to her new Adult Family Home, we finally opened the suitcase she left with. It was virtually empty. No clothes, no toiletries, none of the items I packed for her comfort. The new facility even reached out to us to ask why she had arrived with almost nothing. This wasn't just a mistake, it was a violation of trust. She only wore outfits given to her by the facility he entire time she was there, meaning there was no reason for anyone to have gone through her belongings at all. So where did everything, especially her clothes and perfumes, go? She could not have misplaced them as she physically cannot unpack or move her own suitcase. It seems as though someone at this facility went through her things, and instead of taking accountability, they dismissed both her and me. This is morally wrong. This is taking advantage of an elderly woman with memory issues and the trust of a family trying to believe the best of people. Do better--for the sake of the families who come to you vulnerable, and for the sake of the elders who rely on you for their basic dignity.
