This outfit did help me accomplish what I needed-- a refresher dive that I need before diving on a trip. And it was certainly well worth the $75 I paid to refamiliarize myself with the gear, mask clearing etc. I feel a lot more confident for my next dive, since it will be the first time in several years. It took me about 2 hours to do that. On the other hand, I feel the company is a bit lacking in communication skills. I had to block out 7AM-2PM when I really only need 2 hours for a refresher. I paid up front when I booked but no day was scheduled so I was in limbo for over a month wondering if this would work out for a refresher for my trip. The emails said we needed a bunch of gear and we could "buy" them from the company. The emails did not include specific information for refresher course that would have helped me, such as "don't worry about this form but please fill out form x and y. I think what they meant is "rent". The instructor for the refresher course was competent but dour. Finally, the main instructor showed up 40 minutes late after we all turned up at 7AM. So I think they can get the job done but it may be a slightly chaotic experience. Nice people though. read more

Dynamite Divers is a scuba training facility in central Iowa. We offer classes from beginner to Instructor. Offering classes for most recreational specialties like computer nitrox, dry suit, deep diver and many more. We also teach public safety divers. Sometimes traveling to the team location to provide training. Dynamite Divers is associated with Scuba Diving International (SDI) and Emergency Rescue Diving International (ERDI) We can help you with scuba equipment as well. We carry Cressi and XS Scuba. History

Established in 2012.

Tim and Terry formed Dynamite Divers in 2012 just as a fun part of diving. Both worked for a local dive shop and provided top training to students wanting to learn to dive. 2014 Dynamite Divers decided to open an SDI Training Facility to better serve our students. If you want to learn to scuba dive we are your best option in Central Iowa.

Meet the Business Owner: Tim G and Terry M.

Tim is an SDI Instructor and teaches open water, advanced open water & rescue diver. He is also an Emergency Response Diver and helps with training for local Public Safety Dive teams. He is not only a great instructor but loves his time with students experiencing the underwater world. Terry is an SDI Assistant Instructor and an Emergency Response Diver. He has several advanced specialty diving certifications. He has been diving for several years professionally and for fun. His passion is to help new and experienced divers experience the amazing world underwater.

Found a pool this Summa!!!!…read more Review during COVID19: Birdland pool is like a hidden gem for Central Des Moines this summer! Never been here before but we've been here twice now. No FRILLS pool. They have 1 slide and 3 diving boards. A wading pool that goes 2.5'; very large size too. The pool is clean water and the environment is clean. The price is great too! $2.00 for kids; $4.00 for adult. Free for 3 and under. People around us do not wear masks. There are different ethnic families that live near and visit this pool. They play very loud music. A different variety but I think they play most recent rap and hip hop the most. Staff here is great! They also have two local officers inside the pool to keep things safe. The pool is located by North High school so that's probably why they have officers; it's a little rough neighborhood. The two times we visited we have watched the pool capacity website before arriving. This pool stays under the capacity limit every day and have found it to be very compliant to COVID social distancing regulations. The staff wipe surfaces every hour. At the end of the swim session they are cleaning everything immediately. They also wear masks when they are around people. There's a snack bar open but we've never visited. The water slide is the highlight of the visit for the kids. Young jumpers must go through a swim test before allowed on the diving boards. I recommend visiting this pool this summer. I'm not too sure during any other year as they may be a lot more full but I've enjoyed our visits so far. We will be returning more this summer as we feel safe coming here and seeing how the staff and the people around us are abiding to social distancing rules.

During COVID19 review: Came out here with some moms for a play date. Rocket playground was open as well as the north playground. Wading pool was NOT operating. Didn't see anyone using the restrooms or the drinking fountain. A few park benches around to sit and picnic at. Grass was very tall but landscapers were working on mowing. Well maintained with no tree debris. We've been to this park before and it's a popular place to come. But during COVID19 there is way less people around. 3 other families and 1 small day care of 4 kids were there with our group. Made for around 20-25 children playing around each other. Would recommend if you're in the neighborhood.

Tim and Terry of Dynamite Divers are the way to go for your first through advanced levels of scuba diving. They are professional and very knowledgeable and make the entire experience a lot of fun!! They have completed several of my certifications as well as my spouse and son. Helping us all to achieve what we wanted in diving without all the high pressure sales pitches. Always ready to answer any question, very patient with the students, truly top notch instructors!! They have helped to show us a whole new world underwater and we are so thankful.
