The massive oak had been overshadowing the magnolia for years, limiting its sunlight and airflow. Their crew carefully opened up the canopy while preserving the beauty and character of the oak. When they were finished, the canopy looked absolutely incredible--perfectly balanced and still the centerpiece of my property. Driving up to my home, it's the first thing you notice, and it honestly looks even more beautiful than before. Fast forward a few months, and I noticed several large dead limbs on the magnolia that never recovered. I assumed it was my responsibility since I had waited so long to call, and I fully expected to pay for another service visit. When I first decided to have a couple large (15-20ft, 41 year old) trees in my yard removed, I gathered referrals from neighbors and NextDoor. I contacted 4-5 companies over a week for quotes, knowing availability, professionalism, service, and cost would vary across companies. I was able to schedule the initial quote with R F Trees with ease via text and they were very flexible with my schedule, responsive, and very communicative in coordinating - From coordinating the time, messaging me when Tony was on his way, and when he arrived (2minutes early, at that!). The quote took 15min, and Tony provided a written quote as well as current dates his crew could be available. As a female homeowner, I dread getting estimates for projects the same way I do when I take my car into the dealer for service...However, Tony was professional, provided a fair, reasonable, and comprehensive quote, and was genuine throughout. I told Tony I was getting quotes and would revert within a couple days. Tony was the most professional of the companies I considered, from a really cool and professional business card, to the comprehensive written quote, to his open and consistent communication throughout the process. Other companies showed up unscheduled ringing my doorbell for quotes (which is not ideal, as I work from home and have conference calls/meetings most of the day), only provided verbal quotes, or weren't as communicative. Although R F Trees was not the lowest priced quote (and also not the most expensive), I've learned with all services and contractors to get multiple quotes, but to also vet out and consider all interactions pre-project to minimize headaches during/after. The day of service went smoothly and as expected. The crew showed up as scheduled and got to work. Torres Tree Service came in via a recommendation and they did a stellar job. Setting up an appointment for the initial consultation was incredibly easy. They were punctual, polite, and very professional throughout the process. They had insurance and charged just under a thousand to take down two crazy tall trees, grinding and mulching one into the ground. The lady boss running the show brought in several guys to help with sawing, hauling, clean up, grinding, and was not about wasting time. There was a lot of chainsaw action, climbing (#1), roping, and precision to ensure no pieces or debris fell into anyone else's yard. The whole ordeal was about 15 hours, split over the course of two days. The end result was so good for one of them, one would never know a large tree was there in the first place.
