I called the store and explained what happened and they said I would have to come back to the store to receive a refund, even though they saw the item I purchased on the counter where the sales rep left it. I then asked to speak to the manager, and I was placed on hold once again for over 10 minutes. I explained to Jessica the manager that I don't live close by and it would be an inconvenience she still said they couldn't do anything about it and I would have to come back into the store for my refund. I'm out of a gift for my coworker, no refund unless I travel 45 minutes back to that store, and leave to get a cheesy gift card. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOT MY FAULT!!!!

The staff here is very nice. They are very attentive and know the customers who need help and the ones who are regulars. I usually buy unique gifts for family and friends when I travel - things that have special sayings, wall hangings, something funny or gifts for special occasions etc. But I have seen every time there is an emergency and I want something just as unique and thoughtful and obviously, I don't have a stock of those kind of travel gifts, I come here. And more often than not I find something. Not to forget the holiday and seasonal cards' selection I find in this store, it is nearly impossible to get pretty much anywhere else unless you are ordering in bulk - online. But these are some of the things I still love to do in store rather than sticking to the convenience of the digital world that we all live in these days... Another thing I realized recently. While we have many a Papyrus stores all over in Boston, (and for some reason i am not a big Papyrus fan), Hallmark doesn't have too many stores around. I am glad this one is not too far from me.

Instead of helping, the older man and woman running the store were condescending, rude, and outright dismissive. They belittled her, treated her horribly, and then chased her out of the store telling her to "go elsewhere." This wasn't at closing time -- it was broad daylight, and the store was open. My girlfriend is one of the sweetest, most soft-spoken people you'll ever meet. For her to come back to the car in tears says everything about how cruel and unnecessary their behavior was. This is the exact reason people are abandoning small retailers for online shopping not to mention the cost savings. When you treat customers with contempt, you lose them forever. Sewfisticated should be ashamed, and I can't imagine this kind of service keeping them in business much longer.

We were able to test out the guns before starting on our own rugs. They provided great feedback on how to improve your process which was super helpful. I thought the process was really really therapeutic once I got into the zone. I would highly highly recommend coming here if you want to get away from your phone and craft! Overall I had a great experience and i definitely would go back. I just have couple small suggestions that could make the experience perfect. I think the instructors could have been more clear about the safety training. We also spent a lot of time setting up so some people in my group only had 1hr vs 2 hrs to actually work on their rug. The name of the shop was a bit mystifying as I couldn't tell if it was for needlepoint, embroidery, knitting, etc. Turns out it's a little bit of all of the above! Mostly it's a needlepoint shop but they have some knitting and crochet items as well including a small selection of beautiful specialty yarns and kits. As a one-time visitor to that nasty little place on Newbury st, I was relieved at how AMAZINGLY FRIENDLY the owner was. She chatted with me for about 20 minutes, showed me around the whole place and introduced me to basic needlepoint items of which I was previously unaware. I was very sad that I didn't get to pour oodles of money into this nice lady's hands, but my grandmother ended up giving me a ton of embroidery supplies that she can't use any more. Hopefully when I run out in a wee bit she'll still be open, and we can do business!

This location is not only smaller and seemingly a bit more limited than the Cambridge location, but more significantly I have found after going to this location a number of times that the employees at this location are always quite condescending and/or rude and I find it difficult to shop here/ask them questions. Comparatively the employees at the Cambridge location are always kind and helpful, which makes a big difference in the shopping experience. Additionally, I have gone to this Fenway location and the store has been closed during regular hours, with only a piece of paper on the door indicating that they've just decided to be closed for the day.
