Luckily, after contacting my home state's DMV they informed me on the out of state registration renewal process. I went to this E-Check station for a smog check because it was the closest station to where I'm staying, and wow, did they blow my experience out of the water!! First of all, there was absolutely no wait! I pulled up and they immediately asked me what I wanted to do and they instructed me on their own process for out of state registrations. Usually it's $18, but luckily, their system was down and the manager on duty was very nice and said to go ahead with my test anyways as he provided the associate with an override code. Then the associate walked me through the process and made it an overall painless and pleasant experience! To my surprise, it was also free?!? Crazy! If I need to renew my registration again, I will make sure I come back to this location!

If I'm waiting there is usually only one car ahead of me. These people have always been fast and friendly. One time they gave me a new gas cap and retested me when I failed. They have always been pretty awesome to me here. I can't complain! Today I had one car ahead of me. I waited at most, 3 minutes. Total time spent was probably less than 10 minutes and I was out the door with a passed letter!

I could easily scan my car's VIN using the scanner from the left door of the kiosk or type it in. Next, I was instructed to type in the current mileage. Then, using the OBD reader from the right door of the kiosk I connected it, pressed a button, and the kiosk quickly generated a report. Within five minutes of arrival, I had the printed report in hand. The convenience of using the kiosk anytime was a major plus. Overall, this was a very efficient and convenient DIY echeck kiosk for hassle-free vehicle inspections.

I had a short wait time as there were a few cars ahead of me. The employees were super friendly. After getting in the bay the process was less than 10 minutes and I had my certificate and I was on my way. Super easy. Just be prepared, you do have to get out of your car for a few minutes while they run the test. I loved the ease of the process and the fact that I didn't need an appointment just pulled in they input the car info, ran the test and off I went.

I got the out of state car inspection (VIN number) done prior to my visit. The woman in charge of the line had me pull up to the garage area and asked me if I had anything Ohio (title, registration). I told her I had my license. She told me I would have to pay $18 to get the car's emissions done. She told me to get out of line, go into the business office, pay the fee, and get back in line. I walk into the business office and there is one clerk in the office and a line of at least 6 people. Everyone was upset and the clerk was taking a long, long time with one person. He asked if anyone needed copies. I said, I just need to pay $18 to get my emissions done. He then got into all this rigamarole about buying a voucher and getting refunded and everyone began getting upset in line. He then said that the office only took card and check (who does that anymore, Ohio? Even your turnpike accepts cards). Hearing all this, I got out of line, went to my car and decided to try again the next day to get the emissions done. On my way to Eastlake, I saw an oil change that also did the emissions check and it looked empty. I pulled in and they asked me for the title or registration and then asked...well do you have your VIN inspection. TURNS OUT, THAT IS ALL THEY NEED TO DO THE EMISSIONS TEST FOR FREE. Seriously! The woman at the Ohio State E-Check is obviously super untrained. She should have asked if I had that paperwork to begin with and saved me a ton of time. The place is a mess, their staff untrained and the office doesn't take cards. Avoid! Go to an Oil Change place instead.
