October 27, 2019…read more It's a rainy day today and I can't ride my bike so I must write a note as to what happened on the morning of August 15, 2019. My bike needed some repair so I decided to take it to Spoke & Sprocket on 1890 Hyde Park Rd. London Ont. N6H 5L9. The owner gave me a price to repair it which I agreed to and told me to come back the next morning at 7:00 am and said it would be ready. At 7:00 am sharp the next morning I showed up and he went to get my bike. He went to pick the bike out of the repaired pile but could not locate it. Somehow it was delegated to be repaired that afternoon. He was extremely apologetic and told me to return in 1 hour and it would be fixed free of charge for his mistake. I returned in one hour to find new brake pads installed front and back with new cables. He also replaced the shifter cable and adjusted the shifter so it meshed properly in all gears. He also greased the chain and sprocket and yes it was FREE. I only have the most highly regards to this man and his company for his outstanding service. As the name suggests, it's a sports consignment store, though they do sell some new products as well. For me, it makes a great deal of sense to purchase some sports equipment used since that new item you bought for more than twice the price will look the same after a couple uses. I've been here a few times in the past couple years and have always found what I'm looking for. We purchased my son's first real bike here. It was in terrific shape with virtually no signs of use and came at a great deal. I've popped in other times too, such as buying used softballs - which for me makes perfect sense to save money on rather than buying new ones. Outdoor skating season is now starting up again, which brought me in yesterday for skates. We plan on going several times this season, so it didn't make sense to keep renting each time we go. We can in yesterday to look at their skates, and they have a MASSIVE inventory of both new and used. The price of the men's skates ranged from $40-70, with even the $40 ones being your typical Bauer skate. I got ones for $60, which had very little use and were made of composite material, making it a bit lighter. I also found skates for both my kids, which each pair coming in around $30. They offer skate sharpening for $5, but did ours for free since we purchased three pairs. They had plenty of sales staff present, so anyone could get the help they needed, whenever they needed it. The manager is also supper friendly and very funny. Next time you're looking for some sports equipment, I'd recommend looking here first. You might be surprised at the amount of selection and the money you'll save.

We've been going to this bike shop for years because it's the only option in our neighborhood, but…read moreunfortunately the experience seems to get worse with each visit. The customer service is consistently disappointing. Staff rarely makes eye contact, there is little to no acknowledgment when customers enter the store, and basic courtesies such as greeting customers or providing updates on wait times are completely absent. It is extremely inefficient and disorganized. What makes the experience particularly frustrating is that there can be only a couple of customers in the store while several employees are on the floor, yet it can still take 30 minutes to an hour just to get someone's attention or speak with a staff member. During these waits, there is often no communication, no indication of who is being helped next, and no confirmation that anyone will be assisting you. As a family that loves biking and has invested a lot of time and money on our bikes, it's so frustrating to get it serviced at this location and will be looking at going elsewhere.

However, I visited this location because of a specific bike they had advertised on sale and when they showed me the bike, I immediately noticed it was not as advertised. They had switched out the front shocks, tires, and shifters for lower end components which were not the components advertised on their website. For all I know, they may have downgraded other components as well that I didn't take the time to notice. While it is possible this was simply a mistake in advertising, I find it a little "fishy". When I asked if they could replace the original components, they made it clear that was not possible so I wonder what happened to those high end components. In any event, I walked out without the bike as it was simply not as advertised. As a result, I doubt I will return in the future. I definitely plan to warn my riding buddies and caution them against buying a bike from Pedalinx.
