We stumbled into their tasting room on a Sunday afternoon. It was fairly empty and the person working the wine bar was super friendly and attentive! We each did their $25 tasting flight which included 5 pours + a bonus pour thanks to the generosity of the person leading our flight! The ambiance was nice too and they had a super comfy couch out front which worked great for people watching and enjoying our pours. The theme was cool too if you're into classic rock. read more

We are huge fans of Andrew Murray and have been club members for a few years. Yesterday was surprisingly quiet in Los Olivos so we luckily found a seat at the counter as soon as we wandered in. We always share a tasting (since the designated driver only gets the tiniest of tastes). Yesterday we discovered the most wonderful, unique limited release Cab Franc, estate grown grapes and the most wonderful, subtle floral essence that I hope they will continue to produce. All their wines are awesome, so it's a matter of personal preference. The woman working there is super friendly and easy going, so you don't feel pressured to buy (but you'll want to)! read more

We came down to E11even after becoming members at Andrew Murray. I love the quaint downtown tasting room in Los Olivos, which has barstools inside and patios in front and back. Our hostess, Alice, was an amazing one-woman, wine tasting guru. It is a fun little shop with a great soundtrack and fun merch. The wines are fab, and we were glad to get our AMV discount here as well. I will definitely be back. read more

Loved the wines, loves the songs attached to each one, loved the shop, and loved the gal there! I came on a busy day but we got a spot and a menu right away. The song titles are under each wine, which can be confusing because it doesn't really tell you a lot about the wine itself, but it's a fun way showcase them. The wines themselves are delicious. And I love the little shop. I got a great wine candle after my tastings (that came with the little glass too!). All in all a good experience. read more

Love Andrew Murray wines. After hearing them subtly mentioned in the movie Sideways, we thought that we would try them out. The winery is beautiful, the staff is excellent, and the wines are delicious. Highly recommend doing a truffle pairing for $5 if they are in stock. Andrew Murray himself is typically there working, so if you catch a glimpse of him, be sure to say hello. He is a very nice guy. We became members about a year ago at Andrew Murray and are very pleased with the wine club. We plan to be members for quite a while. In addition, you can try out their other wine label called "Eleven." It is a smaller production wine, but I typically don't enjoy it as much as the Andrew Murray label. Still a great place to visit and buy some wine! read more

Your, staff was really great to me even though they could not serve, (I came in about 8 minutes before closing unfortunately) on April 1st. She sold me a outstanding bottle of wine and was very personable and still went through and explained the wines for me. Not only that, she asked what our plans were, she made some great recommendations we followed through on. That is being a true advocate of customers... Between our wine clubs in Paseo and in the Los Olivos area, we are in the Central Coast on average once a month. We are always looking to expand out cellar with additional wine or join a new club. The property is nice. The lower level is pretty while the top level has the relaxation homey feel and the vibe of hanging out in your back yard. The wine is good and honestly had it not been for the service, I would have purchased a few bottles The star rating is for the scenery and the wine. There is no indication of knowledge of what is being pored. I can read the tasting notes. When I asked to revisit the wine I wanted to purchase. NONE of the FOUR young ladies standing around returned with the wine. Finally, we went to the register to pay. I hope your experience is better. read more

Went here on an impromptu wine tasting trip, and it certainly was the right choice! We spent the entire tasting inside the air conditioned area because it was a bit too warm outside. The flight tasting went smoothly, started from a cold white wine all the way to the darker full bodies reds (with a surprise, off-the-menu rose that was a hit for our group). I personally loved the Syrah!! But that might be a personal preference. If you sign up to become a member, then you get 5 free tasting, which will give you ample opportunity to learn and explore other taste profile. They had live music playing on Saturday from 1pm - 4pm, but we didn't get to enjoy since we kept ourselves indoor. It was also super neat that they had a food truck outside (Dutch Pancake) to help curb our hunger. I would definitely come visit this location again in the future, and probably picnic outside next time :) read more

What a beautiful tasting room. This is right in the middle of town. let me start by saying how amazing the winds are! We went here as part of a wine tour with a group of doctors from Kaiser Hospital set up by one of our friends. We love the Syrah and his line of E11even wines especially the sparkling wine called sonorous which you really have to try. The E11even wines are non Rhône varieties like Petit Verdot and Cab Franc and sparkling wine. So, even if you do not like Syrah there's something for everyone!So Yummy! I really do think his wines are the best in the region and the price is unbeatable. We joined his wine club and we love taking his wines to our Friends because we love telling the story of how we met Andrew Murray at his winery and he poured wine for us and was so nice to us. Plus, everyone loves the way his wines taste. It's a perfect price point for gifts and an every day wine to drink. Above all, his wines taste good. read more

Very nice setting and very good winery. Reasonable prices. Well worth to visit and do the tasting especially with the chocolate pairing. Mostly Rhône varietal as typical Santa Ynez wines. The tasting room is a decent size, not too big, not too small, but on crowded weekends, you may have to manage a squeeze in there. The tasting room is located in Los Olivos, a small town with many little tasting rooms next to each other. This area/tasting room is a great spot to come to if you are on a time constraint and cannot make it to the wineries withe vineyards. We had a great first experience at Andrew Murray. As newly converted wine club members from Curtis, we were excited to try the wines. Andrew Murray has a similar style to Curtis focusing on the Rhone varietals. There really isn't anything special or inviting about the tasting room atmosphere, but Nancy was fantastic. She was extremely knowledgeable and so friendly making our first experience great. Most importantly, we really enjoyed the wines! Especially the Esperance, Mourvèdre and Syrah Watch Hill. read more

I really loved this winery and it's laid back vibe. I have never been to a winery with so many cute things for sale, fun games to plan, lawn games and an adorable picnic area. I think my favorite part was they have wines on tap! Which means they sell reusable growlers. What a cool concept! I took home a growler of their rose which was refreshing and not too sweet. read more

Ten dolla make you holla! Make me holla? Well, it contributed to a nice buzz, anyway. I spent the weekend in Wine Country many moons ago for my last birthday. The BF and I drove up and booked our stay at the Victorian Mansion and our agenda for the weekend was simply - rest, relax, drink wine, eat good food, and visit the Neverland Ranch gate! (eee heee) We accomplished all and it was a lovely weekend. Friends Liz O. and Jeff L. met us for the day to join in on the wine tasting and dinner that evening. It was per Liz O. that we found ourselves at Andrew Murray for an afternoon tasting and I was SUPER HAPPEE. While I'm not versed in wine like some of my wino friends, I DO love Syrah. It's my absolute favorite; I love bold, full-bodied reds and especially love Syrah that carry notes of chocolate, pepper, and/or deep berries. Yum. Most of the wines we sampled at Andrew Murray were Syrah and were quite good. So yes - I was super happee. The staff are extremely friendly and know their stuff. We were met with smiles and an engaging, friendly vibe. I want to join their wine club in the future. 2 bottles shipped quarterly sounds fantastic to me! read more

Andrew Murray you can't please everyone I guess but you sure did please me. I was impressed 100% Your tasting room manager Kelly represented your name with the utmost class. Please people, or at least my Yelp friends or fellow wine drinkers, disregard any one sentence one star review. Yes wine is subjective and these are opinions but let me explain. Environment- The tasting room is environment conscious. Staff- I can speak for Kelly on this trip. I heard stories of Andrew Murrays trips to France when he was a little kid and how he fell in love with Rhone wines. I learned when he went to Australia at the age of 18 to study viticulture. The list goes on and on. I also got opinions on food pairings and what mood each wine would go with. Awesome! Variety & Quality- I could of purchased a bottle for white drinkers, Viognier was one of my favorite whites that I have tasted in all of Central Wine Country. I could of purchased a bottle to pair with Thanksgiving... Yes Thanksgiving. Thats a drinkable red that could adapt like a chameleon (Esperance). I really think this wine is like training wheels on a bike, a perfect wine to give to white wine drinkers who are open for change. A long day at work and all there is is a coffee cup, this wine, and a friend with good conversation. There were Syrahs with tons of range. Big, high alcohol, fruity, hot Cali style. Then there was wine that, as Kelly suggested, could be sipped like a Cognac. Oak, tobacco, chocolate, ect. These wine would hold up to the snobby(ist) of wine drinker. The Rockstar of the bunch was the 11. Thats what I walked away with and I already have the occasion and people that I will be drinking that with. Oh I did not just walk away with that bottle, no sir. I also signed up to the elite wino club. I seriously think I will have 78 bottles at my door step in Oct. and no money... Owell Price- 9 wines on the list and there is a good chance you may hit bonus wine... Please don't say thats steep. If so you may be better off doing a Pabst Blue Ribbon tasting. As for bottles, I was really surprised at the price and how low they were. I am looking at the tasting list now, which of course changes, and it ranges from 15-36$! Tasting room- Small? Ok 80% of Los Olivos rooms are small. They did add couches outside. I really have to say though... and this is not for every tasting room in Los Olivos, but in general I don't think that Los Olivos tasting rooms (the ones in the general area of Grand St.) are really made for the huge 'bachelorette" size parties. Foxen Canyon and the scattered wineries throughout the valley are more equipped. Side note- I think they should make a tasting room called bachelorette tasting and just set a bunch of rose's, Champagne, and desert wine boxes out. They could have little novelty penis's all over the place and Thunder from Down Under could pour the wines? Huh? Ya I know if you read this you are agreeing with me! So there it is. All around, at bare minimum, worth the stoping in. The Yelp reviews for most of the tasting rooms are pretty right on except for this one. Yelp has never really steered me wrong, so a high Yelp five to all of you Yelpers... Except fine dinning... Fine dinning is all over the place but I understand that. Since Americans are used to giant portions and low prices, some people dont understand how you could pay... Sorry thats another time I aplaude Andrew Murray. He is a RockStar wine maker. He takes his inspirations and then creates his own version but without the restrictions of say... The AOC. He and other people like Keith at Saarloos, Carharrt's, Yost at Flying Goat, ect. Andrew Murray if nothing else, consistently makes good wines. His Syrah's are warm, full and peppery. The RGB is the perfect summer wine served slightly chilled. Do yourself a favor this summer and go to Andrew's website and order yourself a bottle of the Rose and RGB. UPDATE: I just had an 05' Roasted Slope Syrah. Amazing. read more

This tasting room was probably the best spot for me in Los Olives. $10 dollar tastings -- which are pretty standard in that area. I am normally not a Syrah type of broad...but Andrew Murray's Syrah was quite different and amazing. I bought two bottles of Syrah and we joined the wine club. I wouldn't say it's ridiculously expensive...Firestone is pretty ridiculous in price and I must admit, their wine was far from impressive. The AM tasting room itself is small and quaint. I enjoyed being around other winos and gabbed with a few folks. I recommend Andrew Murray if you're looking for a very deep and fruitful Syrah reminiscent to a Steltzner Merlot (2003). I think they may be equal in price even. And you definitely don't have to take MY word for it. read more

Andrew Murray was the second stop on our wine tasting tour (okay, MY wine tasting tour) around Los Olivos. The tasting room is housed in a smallish space right on the main street, and we were directed here as soon as I professed myself a Syrah-lover. And am I.... For $10 you get about ten different pours, so there's plenty to try. Andrew Murray's emphasis is on Rhone varietals (for those of you who aren't wine experts, think French, and think Syrah and Viognier), so don't show up expecting a heavy, smooth, highly perfumed Syrah - it ain't gonna happen. These wines are not your typical California, New World versions; they are much lighter, more subtle, and less forward. The Syrahs were good (it's nice to be able to taste a few different offerings, some blended as the usual GSM, some single-origin, and compare the nuances of the vineyards and varietals), but my surprise favorite was a lush, deep and oh-so-viscerally satisfactory Grenache. Just lovely, and it's rare to see this varietal mostly by itself due to its sometime propensity to flabbiness. Not this release, however, which says more about Andrew Murray's skill (to me) than my sips of the Syrahs. read more

Andrew Murrary was stop three of four on my wine tasting venture. I love the part of town (is this downtown?) that this tasting room is in. Very quaint and cute. Parking seemed like a problem. The girl in the tasting room was very friendly and knowledgeable and stayed with su and chatted the entire tasting. As others have stated, if you are a Shiraz fan this place is for you! Also, compared to the other stops, you get 10 tastings for $10 which is a great deal. I ended up purchasing a spicy Shiraz (can't remember which one) for my sister and her boyfriend and Esparance for myself. Andrew Murray's 2005 Esparance is 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, and 15% Mourvedre. Very reasonable prices for quality wine and service. read more

I just walked in to try a tasting and asked to use the bathroom. Apparently she didn't know I was there to do a tasting and sent me two blocks away to the church to use the bathroom. There were two other people there yelling out its a nice bathroom and laugh! Wtf! Is this the place you send your customers, I think not! Maybe they were all drunk but still cackling and sending people two blocks away to use the bathroom is rude and mean. I hate this place! Btw, we were coming off the Foxen Canyon Road Wine trail, and purchased a case each from 3 different vineyards. We did not visit Andrew Murray on the trail because we wanted to go into town and grab a bite to eat, and saw this Andrew Murray tasting room. The wines here were nice and the little tasting room was super cute. It had a chic-ish feel to it and they even sell little bath salts and other goodies as well. The lady helping us with our tasting was incredibly sweet. If I'm correct, her name was Cassandra??! I'm sorry if I butchered that, but she was so helpful and sweet and perfectly sociable. The bright white tasting room is nothing to look at (from a Feng Shui perspective, it's appalling) but the wine is why we're they're, right? The lady pouring was knowledgeable and friendly enough and we tasted: Eleven (both the white and red blends), Viognier, Sanglier (rose), several Syrahs, and a GSM. The McGinley Syrah was the highlight, though we didn't care for the others. We probably won't be back. Our experience was not particularly special and the wines were not memorable. On a side note, a totally hammered young couple came into the tasting room halfway through our tasting. I was surprised they were served. They were stumbling around, giggling, groping and throwing back their tastings like cold water on a hot day.
