When our Dad made the difficult decision to sell his condo and move to a Senior Living location, we visited multiple Senior Living homes but kept returning to The Glenn Hopkins. Scott and the wonderful Marketing Team were very patient, allowing us to visit multiple times as they understood this was a major decision for our Dad and family. Dad chose The Glenn because it felt like home and we knew he would be cared for very well. Dad spent the first five months in The Towers. He was so happy with his one bedroom w/den and couldn't get over the fact that he was being served meals in a dining room with white linen tablecloths. It felt like he was dining out every day. In June, Dad had to move to The Terraces Assisted Living where he lived for the next 10 months. Sandra, Julie, and Jen were so fantastic and accommodating as he required many schedule changes based on his changing health. Dad formed many friendships with the other residents during his time at The Glenn. They looked out for each other and we are thankful for his wonderful neighbors. He also made many friendships with the staff who cared for him. It takes very special people to do all that the nurses and aides do every day and to do it with love and patience. Dad made the choice that if something happened he did not want to go to the hospital. Instead, after suffering a stroke, he spent his final days in his home being cared for by the people who knew him and cared about him. Our family is OVERWHELMED by the love and support that was shown to our Dad and us during his final days, and the days that followed as we planned his service and moved his belongings out of his apartment. It was a steady stream of staff and neighbors who came to show their love for him and say goodbye. The staff also provided so much comfort and support to our family each day. They shared stories of their family members, gave us lots of hugs, and told us "we cared for your Dad how we would want our Dad to be treated". It was very touching when some of the staff took their personal time and came to the funeral service. The Glenn was an extension of our family and we knew Dad was loved and received exceptional care every day. Dad frequently said "God brought me to The Glenn". We are thankful this is where he lived and thankful to everyone who touched his and our family's lives. Two years ago I decided I wanted to live closer to my children and to downtown Minneapolis, so I sold my town home in Elk River. I no longer wanted to own real estate, thought about finding an apartment, but I'm 84 and knew I'd need services at some point even though I don't now. I have 8 children and the thought of their trying to decide "what to do with Mother" made me feel I should be the one to decide. I shopped around a lot and found the Glenn by far the most appealing senior residence. I still don't NEED any of their services, but I use the shuttle a lot, have learned to navigate the Metro buses and can get around so easily that I sold my car six months ago. What pleases me most is 1) the opportunity to volunteer here as much or little as I wish, 2) the ability to be as social (or not) as I like and to my great surprise 3) the wooded surroundings and splendidly maintain grounds. I like to walk and never tire of this area. And don't get me started on the city of Hopkins! It puts Elk River to shame, with many good restaurants, a movie theater, an art center with concerts and events for all ages, a grocery store, hardware store, drug store that delivers, specialty shops and a half dozen antique shops as well as a branch of the Hennepin Library system. (We have a fine library in our own building, too, with quarterly deliveries of books from the Hennepin system as well as hundreds of books that have been donated to us.) I am Catholic and was delighted to find a "church home" here. Last of all (perhaps it should be first) the entire staff is not only competent but very, very kind. Every one I've met will go many extra miles to be helpful.

They have no storage areas for residents as many other homes do so he can only have what fits in his room. Most of the staff is very friendly. They all know my dad and always tell me how sweet he is. He had an issue with one worker, I called in for something else and mentioned this to the person I was talking to, and the next day the administrator and the head nurse had addressed it and called me to update. They label all his clothes I bring in for him and do laundry there every week or so. Everything is included. The coordinator Rochelle who sets up his appointments and transportation when needed is wonderful. She also helps him when he has a video appointment. The food seems decent and they come by every day to set up his meals for the next day. If he doesn't like something that's scheduled he can order an alternative like a cheeseburger or something else. I bought him a fridge so he can have his Coke in his room but they also have a vending machine for pop and snacks. I haven't been able to visit as often as I like due to my own health and disability but they keep me updated and he likes participating in the activities they have for patients like bingo and different crafts. I know it's a hard transition for most people to lose their independence and most nursing homes are not ideal unless you are a millionaire. But if you're on Medicaid (which they will help you apply for) it's not bad and my dad seems happy most of the time. All his income goes to the facility and MA covers the rest. He gets ~$130 a month for incidentals but I try to provide him with what he needs.

She was clear in communications which I am grateful for as this was a complicated move with all the emotions and demands on my personal life. She really helped lead the way on next steps in a collaborative way that made my life easier and really improved my confidence in our steps as a family and in this team and facility. Also, the connection to Fairview is very positive for us as it is deeply embedded in Minnesota as a care provider which is also important.

4 years ago my 71-year-old Mom moved from her home of 50 years to an independent living senior…read morefacility at 1910 Graham Ave. We were overjoyed at the community and amenities the owners Kelley Bothers offered and we thought she had found her next real "home". She was allowed to choose paint colors, the rent was affordable and the whole place had a very friendly home-like feel to it. She was very happy there. Last year the building was sold to Oppidan with Ebenezer as the property management company. It's like a nightmare. They raised her rent $120 a month and went from a yearly lease to month to month with the option to raise the rent any time they like. They are forcing her to move out of her apartment to temporary housing that doesn't even have a telephone so they can "renovate" and put in a lot of changes that she didn't ask for and doesn't want. All the while pretending like they are doing her some kind of favor. They refused to let her keep her wall colors, she has to be without telephone or internet for at least 3 weeks while still paying for the service, she has to pack up all her belongings and to access her car she has to walk to the garage which will be 2 buildings away from her. I warn anyone in the area that has an elderly relative to avoid facilities owned and managed by these people, they are heartless. My Mom was perfectly happy with her living situation the way it was and the only reason they are doing this is for the almighty dollar.

The layout is very simple so it is easy to find your way around. This was a major concern for me and my siblings as both of my parents are suffering from dementia and have some mobility issues. They seem to have lots of activities--BINGO is a favorite! The apartments have been updated with new cabinets, carpet and paint. The complex smells fresh and clean and the food isn't bad either. My parents seem to be happy here so far. The initial meeting we had with the nurse practitioner went really well and I think they really have my parents best interest at heart. The assisted living apartments are attached to a nursing home and memory care unit. There is a chapel in the apartment complex and you can walk inside through the nursing home to the attached Church (St Anthony Chapel). The apartments have a very small kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, sink and drawer microwave. Just what they need since lunch and dinner are provided.

Management is terrible, they expect all these expectations/high quality services from staff and employees but cant seem to notice that they're over working us. We are so tired trying to keep up with the pace of the work load. Doing our very best in every possible way to provide the best quality care for our residents. We love our job, thats why we tend to stay here so long and work for our residents. Please higher more people to put on the floor or give us a raise. So it seems like our work is actually worth something because the work load and pay isn't balanced. Additionally, instead of providing all these educational learning resources, because of how many warnings this building has gone through. Maybe we should look at why it even happened that way in the first place. Because literally everything we do is in a time crunch, of course accidents are bound to happen. Like it would be nicer if you hired more people to work, the work will be evenly distributed. There would be less of a rush and for things to be done correctly/accurately. But that int a topic y'all are ready to talk about because we know y'all can afford to hire more people to work but choose not to. Lastly, standing up for staff and employees. We are usually the first people to get accused of something and not even our own employer stands up for us. Which is why so many people leave. For example, one staff member that used to work there was accused of abusing a resident and was interrogated by police officers. After the interrogation they literally begged her to stay and work because they were so short staffed. When she was supposed to go on leave due to the allegations, and for an investigation. It was probably so traumatic for her but they just expected her to continue working. When her livelihood was on the line. Which just demonstrates that there is no support for their staff and employees. So furthermore, do a better job, there is a lot of improvements that need to be made. Im even surprised this place is still running and operating when administration is doing bare minimum and it just trickles down to all of us.

We immediately knew New Perspective was a great fit for my Aunt. Coleen, the sales director was very thorough answering all of our questions and helped us through the entire process. My aunt's apartment is so beautiful and spacious, with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom, walk-in shower, and in-unit laundry room! They have wonderful amenities. Charlotte, and the nursing staff have managed to successfully monitor the care of the residents while keeping them virus free. My aunt is genuinely happy and has commented several times about how caring Bridget, the director, and all the care staff are. She has been able to get the help she needs at New Perspective, and still maintain her independence.
