I had a few plants that I couldn't find anywhere in the DC or Baltimore area. I must have called about 20 different shops. Not only did this place have what I was looking for, they had about 5 different versions of the same plant. Each of the staff members went out of their way to talk me through what type of soil I needed, where to plant each one and tips on making my yard grow better. I was writing so much of it down, since they were such a wealth. I've never seen so many plants, and it was reasonably priced. I honestly may make this my go to plant nursery each year. It's worth the drive from DC.

We had the lot to ourselves before two other families showed up. We found our tree after looking for about 10 minutes (we actually found a few a we liked in that small span of time!) Their sign described what to do and listed Curt's number if we needed any assistance. Curt actually came down to assist another customer with a larger tree, seems like a very cool guy! They had two kinds of trees available, which included blue spruce in the near field and white spruce in the next field down. The trees were very nice ranging in sizes up to 10 feet tall. You are welcome to bring your own saw, but they have some nice Fiskars saws available (a family there had an old two man saw that they had been using for 22 years!). The trees are on a gentle slope and are not too far away from where you park. There were plenty of trees to choose from and most were well shaped, full, and pleasing to the eye. Much better than another tree farm we went to the weekend before, which we left empty handed and another place we have traditionally gone to, but has become too picked over. The best part about this place may be that ANY tree is only $29!!! This is probably the best deal you will find for a real tree. Also, they'll bale it for only $1. In addition, they have live wreaths for only $10. Plus, they are dog friendly! I think this place will become our family's yearly tradition for real Christmas trees. Finally we found a beautiful, symmetrical and great smelling tree! They provide saws and a cart there so it only took a few minutes to get it down and then wheel it over to pay. As of…read morethe yesterday (the day after Thanksgiving), the tallest trees there were only about 6 feet, but you get the pick of the entire farm. Basically, they hand you a saw and cart, and they might guide you to where you might find a specific type of tree (we passed Fraser Fir, Douglas Fir, Blue Spruce, and White Pine). All trees, regardless of size or type, are $40, including tax. Traveling to the tree farm was a good adventure, but we probably won't go again, mainly because I think we'll be able to find at least the same quality trees closer to DC. If you're close, though, it's a good place to get a tree.

We drive up from Parkville, and it takes us longer to get there( about 45 mins.) than it does to hike to the White Pine area . They always let you glean /clean up the left behind branches from trees not cut to ground level. And, the tree is cut up for mulch/flower bed cover until April, when it is put thru our chipper....and the lower trunk is saved to be burned on the next Christmas Eve...
