Harbormaster and staff helpers are efficient and courteous. Restroom/showers are always wonderfully clean, and the facility boasts a nice laundry facility with two large washers and four dryers. Facility has very good security, and they do a good job of keeping any riff-raff away. There are a couple excellent restaurants (Doc's, Harbor House) literally steps away if you don't feel like eating onboard. THE THORNS: No big slips, so if your yacht is over 45', you may be out of luck. THE VERDICT: Honestly, this facility is about as good as it gets. Transient moorage rates are a titch steep, but for what you're getting, it's a good value. Recommend!

The docks are new and in great condition. The facilities are well-maintained. There are usually volunteer dock helpers around to answer questions who are very nice. The dock features multiple free pump out stations. There is also a superb boat ramp and ample short-term dock space to park your boat while your parking your truck/trailer. Overnight moorage fees are very reasonable (50 cents/foot, $5 a day for power [30 and 50 amp]. There is a pay station that takes credit cards, so you don't have to fumble around for cash. The City Dock is a short walk away from downtown Bainbridge, which is to Seattle what Marin County is to San Franscisco: bursting to the seams with twee boutiques and expensive eateries. THE THORNS: The electrical power situation is frustrating. We couldn't get power because the main breaker was constantly tripping. I was told by one of the dock volunteers that their system was very unstable and had been giving them fits; fortunately we have a big house battery bank and a genset. It is also important to note that this marina is NOT secure; anyone can wander around at any time of the day or night. I wouldn't be concerned about this except for the presence of a really sketchy vagrant wandering around the area. Fortunately the dock volunteers are good about interacting with the folks and figuring out who belongs and who doesn't. Still, don't leave your $800 Steiner binoculars or iPad laying around for people to see. ROSE OR THORN, DEPENDING ON YOUR SITUATION: Bainbridge City Dock only allows a maximum of two nights moorage. On the plus side, this ensures lots of dock space turnover and no 'campers'. On the other hand, if you are looking to stay in the area for more than a couple of days, you'll have to alternate time on the City Dock with anchoring out in the harbor or looking for transient moorage at the much more expensive (but well-maintained and secure) Winslow Wharf Marina. THE VERDICT: Good facility in a protected harbor that offers short-term moorage at a giveaway price. Don't be in a position where you NEED power, though; you might not get it.

The line going into the boat docking area was super packed! Probably had to wait in line for 20+ boaters to get to the boat launch area before it was our turn. I think it took about 30 minutes or so... Once we were able to get the boat into the water and get going, it was a very scenic and peaceful atmosphere. The views were great, temperature was just right and water was pleasant. When we arrived at our preferred fishing spot, we prepared our bait, tossed in our lines and trolled. After a minute, the fishing pole got the first fish on! My friend reeled in a Chinook Jack. Released it. Then after baiting the first fishing pole and casting, not even a minute later, hooked on another fish. This time it was a Coho, but as the line got closer to the boat, the fish came off. Afterwards, we were able to get both fishing poles set up and ready to go. I was next to get a fish on and reeled in a nice Adult Coho for my first catch of the day! Not long after that, I got hooked on another fish and reeled the second Coho. We trolled around the water for a bit before I got another fish, but lost it 10 feet away from the boat as it came off. I believe we were in the water for 5 hours. During that time, I was able to land 5 out of 7 fish. My friend landed one big Coho out of 4 of his bites. Limited out with 6 fish, so we were happy about that. All in all, it was a decent experience as my first time boat fishing. Learned a lot while enjoying the bites in the water. There were a whole lot of boaters on this day.

It's clean, well maintained and has a very nice community vibe. We've been seeing many other marinas now that we are motoring around the sound and I haven't seen a nicer one! The restrooms are always clean and warm, the docks are hosed off regularly and communication with the staff has always been pleasant.

We were able to find a one hour free street parking spot. It worked out perfectly for us as it took about that long for the tour. There are various restaurant available on the marina. Anthony's is our favorite. This is also where the ferry terminal is. We didn't use the ferry service so no review on that. The marina was clean and had plenty of seating available to sit and enjoy the view. Would recommend.

Elliott Bay Marina…read more We stopped by Elliott Bay Marina to get information about docking when we cruise north from Los Angeles to Washington with our motor yacht, @pacificpearlyacht. Ray went into the marina office and had the opportunity to speak with Brice, the harbormaster. He was incredibly nice, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the marina layout, guest accommodations, and what to expect seasonally, which immediately made us feel comfortable and confident about arriving by water. The marina itself is beautiful and well positioned, with approximately 1,200 slips and guest accommodations for traveling boats. Brice explained that during the summer months there is a lot of movement with boats coming in and out, and that winter docking is typically manageable as well, even though many owners keep their boats in place due to the colder weather. Overall, it was a very positive and reassuring experience. We're looking forward to our next visit--next time arriving from the water side, which is the plan. Highly recommend Elliott Bay Marina for anyone cruising into Seattle.

A little less expensive than right on the lake. The owners are very friendly and really do look out for the interest of their renters. One winter my sailboat started to flood and they tried to unclog the drain and promptly gave me a call. They always knew my name and are very flexible with transferring moorage or any other special arrangements that you might need.

Being our first time paddle-boarding Aaron was totally patient and helped us learn the basic stance and grip and paddle and grip mechanics. He carried our boards out to the dock and has a real chill temperament. They have a great little cove for a beginner. I am nearly 6 foot and we were out on Seafair with all boats so the water was about as calm as it could be with all the revelry. I did fall forward but managed to not topple into the water. We had a great time putt-putting about. The equipment seems all brand new and no complaints.
