Had a friend from UK visiting LA and we wanted to do a leather night. We put on our leather and headed out. No place to park and the "valet" dumps your car in no parking zones so I would avoid using that. Once in the bar we were the ONLY men in leather in the entire bar. The Eagle is probably my favorite bar in LA. The theme for each night of the week means the mood in the bar can vary widely, but it's always laid back and usually nicely crowded with a funny and friendly mix of leather/fetish men and younger Silverlake types. No matter what night, it's always a fantastic East LA contrast to the West Hollywood primped-n-plucked set. We had a special time tonight. We wanted to go since we were in LA and it was all that in imagined but no maze or backroom :( oh well it's not DC. It was great drinks at $8 for 7/7 and $8 for Kettle One. It was a bit overcrowded with unnecessaries including a gaggle of girls (have looked like vampires & the other half are in unmemorable. But girls please, this is a hard core mans cruise bar. Parking was sketchy on the streets across street but if you can parallel park then your ok just find a space. Big smoking area in patio area. Bartenders do take their time for no apparent reason but there are several bars with better bartenders in several sections. Their show of costumed dancers were not the tee but it was some theme nite so I it's ok. Front door gets an A+ very kind and professional. The blue light over the trough on the men's room was cool. read more

L.A. Premier Leather Bar. Who are they fooling? I went to visit whilst on vacation in LA and I was highly disappointed. For a leather bar, not one of the customers were in leather and especially the employees. The bartenders are so stuck on themselves especially Corey. Dude, pour the drinks and not the attitude. You are not all that....son!! This bar is in the middle of nowhere and there's no parking once you get there. You have no where else to go to except get back in your car and drive to get to another bar. If the owner put more time into the bar instead of the website maybe the bar would be decent. The bar is more impressive on the website. The drinks prices are okay but nothing special. I was not impressed with the bar. In fact, it was a waste of time. I will not go there ever again and will tell my friends to avoid this place. The male dancers were terrible, they were not even hot and the crowd are very clannish and not welcoming to strangers at all. For a real leather bar visit Chicago......Touche or Jackhammer......real guys in leather minus the prissy attitude. read more

On Wednesdays, check out Shotgun, the Eagle's weekly dyke night. No cover, $1.50 beers, good music, generally (depending on the dj, it ranges anywhere from 80s to indie), and two pool tables. Can't really go wrong with that. If you're looking for an edgier queer spot and don't quite fit in with the LA glamour, this is your place. I'm only giving it 4 stars, because it can get kind of scene-y sometimes, but I'm not sure that it's possible to find a place in LA that doesn't. So I am from out of town and came here last night for the first time. It was a Saturday night. I want to start out by saying that I am used to going to the Eagle in many different cities, and this is the first time I've ever had to pay a cover to go inside a laid back, leather mans bar. I think this is ridiculous. Usually when they charge a cover, they at least offer you a ticket for a well drink, which they are not losing money on, but this was not the case. I also found it very strange that there were women all over the bar, especially when there is explicit gay porn playing on the monitors inside the bar. I have nothing against women, but if you are calling this a leather mans/ blue collar bar, this is not the place for girls...sorry. Can anyone say buzzkill? The Eagle is not set up as a dance club, although they have a dj spinning. The music is actually very good, but too bad there is nobody dancing? My take away on this place is that it's kind of confused on whether it is a club or a bar? A lounge or a leather bar? It's trying to be too many things at once. I am all for inclusion, but you are losing your identity as a bar when you try to make everybody happy. I really love this place, I first came here for their cool night party last year. And I have been coming here ever since. If you're not a smoker, and want actual fresh air on the patio, you're out of luck. The smokers and the cigar smokers completely monopolize what little space there is on the outside patio. For some reason they leave the shade tent up at night, which holds all the smoke in the patio. The crowd is also starting to change, just like the Faultline years ago. It was leather/bear bar, and slowly but surely the WeHo crowd with their non-queer girl friends coming to slum at a dive bar are filling up the space. (It would actually be great to see more queer women at this bar.) You never get anything for your cover except go-go dancers (don't tell me the DJ is part of the cover, that should be part of the atmosphere of the bar).
