I understand ID policies. I had lost my ID and only had photos of my passport and identification, so I asked politely if there was any way I could come in. I also mentioned I wasn't drinking just there for a friends birthday. What followed was honestly one of the most uncomfortable interactions I've ever had at a business. Instead of giving a simple yes or no, the security guard began loudly berating me for several minutes in front of a full line of people. He repeatedly said things like "what kind of person doesn't bring their ID" over and over again, questioned my intelligence, and spoke about me to my friend instead of addressing me directly. I stayed calm and kept saying it's completely fine if the answer is no - I just needed an answer. But he continued escalating, repeating himself, and making the situation more and more uncomfortable. At one point, people in line were visibly confused and reacting to what was happening. I ended up leaving crying, shaken and upset, which is not something I've ever experienced from simply asking a question at the door of a bar. I have never been so confused and shaken up this is such concerning behavior. Again, I fully respect policies. A simple "no, sorry" would have been completely fine. This review is only about the way the situation was handled. It felt unnecessarily aggressive and honestly unstable, and it created a very uncomfortable environment not just for me, but for everyone standing there. I hope management is aware of how their staff is representing the business, because this kind of interaction leaves a lasting impression.

Remembered us from the last time which was nice. To our surprise, it happened to be Bingo that afternoon. Clearly none of us knew anything about it but hey, let's play bingo. The best part, it was free. Everything was supplied for you. Grab your games and dabber and go to town. The hostess with the mostess was amazing. She made the game more interesting. Maybe half an hour to it, the place picked up a lot. Pretty much people kept joining in with the games. Our group did win some rounds which was pretty cool. Prizes were a bit all over the place. A table which you choose what you want. Things rang from pillows, candies, sweets, to some intimate pieces...Lol.... It was hilarious. There was a few intermission for a little performance from the hostess. Lip sync for your life with some tips in hand. It was a fun afternoon not expecting anything. I think there's something that happens every now and then. Not sure what the schedule is like but we happened to stop by on a fun afternoon. Cheap drinks, free bingo and friendly crowd. What more can you ask for. Definitely will be back.

I introduced myself to 3 completely separate friend groups, 2 outside at the patio and 1 inside, who all told me that this bar was not a place for people like me and that I needed to leave. This was March 14, 2026. Coming from Houston, and being used to the Latino bars there, and working in them, I did not expect to be treated like I was not welcome in Los Angeles. To be clear, the only thing asked was "I've never been here before. What's your name and is there anything I should know about the atmosphere?". I was met with so much hostility, I recommend the bar close permanently. If you cannot control your clientele's hated, you deserve to shutter. Never in my life have I felt unsafe in a queer bar, attacked by my own people, until tonight. I highly suggest anywhere but here.

They have dancers all around the club you can give dollar bills to. All the people there seemed generally nice. I also liked the music selection played there as they played a lot of pop hits from early 2000s to present day. A solid club for a night out in WeHo.

Our very friendly server sat us on the large wraparound patio and after my explaining my celiac issues and getting some guidance on their incredible menu, we shared the following after my friend ordered a delicious Sangria while knowing as a lightweight and cheap date I would be having 6 cocktails later, I ordered the Ta Ta Tatiana- Watermelon, ginger, honey, lemon, mint, bitters: Cast iron cornbread, cultured butter, wildflower honey Kusshi oysters, Nantes carrot mignonette Arugula, emerald beauty plum, goat cheese, spiced pecans, aged balsamic Hokkaido scallops, brown butter-bacon vinaigrette, mustard greens The oysters came out first and had a delightful and unusual carrot mignonette. Small and not like Louisiana Gulf Oysters, they were fresh and delicious. Next came the Arugula salad that was tart and tasty as well as a generous portion. The cast iron cornbread was ridiculously so good I joked that I would just order two of them next time. This joint actually makes their cornbread without flour which is sadly rare for me so not only was this a gluten free treat, it was light and just melted in blissful corn flavor. Last came the scallops in a brown butter bacon vinaigrette with mustard greens that was so perfectly prepared these might be the best scallops I've ever eaten, which can sometimes be dicey. With the sauce they could have served blackened, sautéed asphalt and it would have tasted good. Well done to Manuela's all around.

Finally made it to this HOT (both in popularity and live-fire cooking) spot in Glassell Park just…read moreoff the 2 freeway. Apparently they've been open about 3 years, but all the buzz, accolades and crowds seem more recent than that. Reservations can be tough to secure, but recommended. We had a 5:30 opening time res, and I was quite surprised by the length of the separate line for walk-ins. But it appears they all made it in. Their next-door bar only seats walk-ins. Restaurant guests can wait here, but they also have a limited menu that includes several of the popular dishes (like the cornbread) and also a bar-only hangar steak, which replaced the highly lauded bar-only burger. Eagle Rock Blvd is a wide multi-lane street with a center median/parkway. The restaurant has a valet; street parking can be difficult as there are homes and apartments on the side streets. Eagle Rock Blvd has some parking, but across the blvd is FAR and hazardous to cross. A better bet is Bushwick St. behind the restaurant. There aren't a whole lot of businesses nearby, but on Dunsmoor's block there's a bar (The Grant) and a breakfast/lunch/bakery spot (Bub & Grandma's) where Dunsmoor gets their bread. Dunsmoor's Spanish Revival corner space is impressive and lovely. Chef-owner Brian Dunsmoor grew up in Georgia, but the cuisine here is "American Heritage" with definite Southern touches and of course California's abundant purveyors/farms. The menu seems highly seasonal and earthy; I doubt they use tweezers to plate the food here! The space has individual 2-top tables along 2 sides, the middle of the space has 3 long communal tables. There's counter seating right in front of the open fire (great view but hot) and a few more to the right. The fire is a further distance away from counter guests here vs. the spacing at Betsy in Altadena, another live-fire spot. Dunsmoor also has a back kitchen where non-fire dishes are done. We ordered a lot: 1) House Meyer lemonade. Dunsmoor's spirit-free beverage selection is limited. but the lemonade was great, sparkly. Their wine list is pretty large. 2) Chopped chicken liver with bacon, rosemary, onion preserves. Served with bread from Bub & Grandma's. Delish. The thought the rosemary would be overpowering but it wasn't. 3) Edna's sour milk cornbread. Pretty much seen on every table. Cheddar and Hatch chiles flecked through the bread, topped with a mound of melting cultured butter and honey cascading like waterfalls over the sides. A must order. Not spicy at all, thankfully. 4) Regier Farms yellow peaches with farmers cheese, different basils and olive oil. Summer on a plate! The peaches were exquisite. Clearly a seasonal dish. 5) Carolina Gold rice with shrimp and corn. A delish cross between risotto and grits. There was lots of cheese too. An ode to the South. 6) Aunt Emmy's pork and green chili stew. Another top-seller. Homey and substantial, with a slight kick and fabulous house-made tortillas. 7) Beef ribeye with smoked bone marrow and sea salt. Definitely shareable, it's prepared medium rare unless otherwise told. Our slice had a bit of gristle, but it was well prepared. We placed the smoky-rich marrow on top of the steak as recommended. The sea salt was not needed. Would love to try the pork chop and duck someday. 8) Sliced Cherokee tomatoes, simply dressed with apple vinegar, olive oil and sea salt. Another winning seasonal dish. The also have a tomato Caesar dish with more ingredients. 9) Sticky date pudding. Well done moist version of a classic, served in a cast iron dish with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream. Would have loved to try the seasonal stone fruit and blackberry cobbler and the hand-churned ice cream, which on this night was cantaloupe! Overall an excellent and substantial meal. Unlike some past reviews, the service was fine and very friendly. I enjoy a Michelin-starred fancy tasting menu (where they use tweezers to plate) every so often, but a hearty, rib-sticking but upscale meal like this is also great.

It was airy and crunchy and so satisfying. (Next time, I'd order a pizza and keep the extra honey from the focaccia to drizzle on top!!) The hangar steak was a bit of a let down. Located on the…read moresecond floor, we had no idea what to expect and upon entering, we were introduced to a whole new world. The decor and ambience is absolutely remarkable, so much so that we just had to stare at every detail when walking over to the terrace. Even in the searing summer heat, the terrace offered us a soft, peaceful breeze, so everything felt just right. At the same time, we took advantage of the lovely views of the neighborhood on one side and the beautiful interior of the bar as a centerpiece on the other. Whether having drinks or a meal, this was the perfect setting. Each person on staff was very welcoming and enthusiastic, and they hit the right notes in terms of helping to set the atmosphere. We were recommended the sticky Japanese sweet potato and informed that the skewers would also be delicious and filling. The king salmon skewer and glazed pork belly skewers were indeed amazing. It was obvious that each culinary item was treated with great attention to detail. For me personally, the shoyu, pickled daikon, and rhubarb on the pork belly truly created that perfect bite. Needless to say, I cannot wait for my next trek to the magnificent Checker Hall.

I have had the worst experiance at this bar in the past year in the corse of eight years. One of the bar tenders who I will not name has a bad habit of trash talking his customers NOT COOL . I even seant a coplaint to the owner and got no reply back I spoke with outher customers the same night this individual had me removed by the local P.D. and thease guys have had the same experiance one guy even told me that this made him so angry he dowced the tender with his beer and walked out three outher guys also agreed. I usually go in and have a few tip the tenders and have a smoke chill and go home. with no problem. but evertime I run into this guy he pulls the same b/s on me. And Im wondering hash any one else had this same problem ? I took the liberty in oncludeing the the e-mail I seant to the management/owner. Its listed below: Hey Hunter , Went to the bar last night and as usual oderd some beer, enjoyed the small talk and had a few laughs with the outher customers. But up until now as of yesterday going to the eagle has turnt out to be a trip back to junior high. From what I recall me and two outher customers were sitting tword the back of the room at the main bar and enjoying conversation with the bar back till one of the two outher customers was trying to get the attention of the bar back when I jokeingly said " well you've got to get his attention " and smaked the bar twice with the palm of my hand. figureing the facility is after all is a "leather bar " that is open to the expression of those who are comfortable with themselv's in such manners as pretaining to the S/M & B/D community. When he comminted that " Im not a bell boy ", I laughed since we had all been jokeing at that time when I noticed his dissposition had changed. So with out a word I picked up my beer and my bag and went out to the patio figureing the joke was in bad taste. I do admit I am a little raoudy that's just the way I was raised, but I never ment to be-little him. Hec I dont even know the guy's name. During my visit to your facility after I had left the main bar and retreated to the patio/smokeing area I was approuched by the bar tender and these were his words exactly: Im going to have to ask you to leave only becase you said to a customer" watch me get a free drink off the bar tender", and since you have your bag it looks to me that your on your way out anyways, so Im going to have to ask you to leave." I in turn said to him. " I never said that I been comeing to this bar four years now and not once have I ever asked for a free drink, and I dont need any free drinks eithere." So I went on my way to cool off for an hour. Walked back in and asked the bar tender to serve me a drink he then repeated himself to me that he will not due to the above mentioned I then replyed back to him "I dont need free drinks I have my own money thanks." so I took my ID with some cash and asked him to serve me a beer. He ignored me and made a joke of me with outher customers. When the bar back came out and told me I have to leave, I then said you want me to leave then call the Police so they can ask me to leave. Then the b a tender intervined and said "you t a problem with him then you got a problem with me" so I said " I havent had a problem up untill now Ive been ordering my beers from you and giveing you your tips, my concerner is the bar back so call the police!". It escalated from there me and the bar back had words, and ultimately the P.D. got envolved and asked me to leave the premisis. my buddy and i came into LA for a weekend. we scoped out a few bars to hit while in town. eagle la looked like our kinda place. someplace we could get half naked and get all over each other. we went on a saturday night and were not dissapointed. it happened to be rubber night, so there were a handful of rubber cats walking around on leashes. funny. but hey to each his own. we walk in a little apprehensive at first.standing on the patio drinking a beer we quickly get hit on by a few dudes trying to muscle in on our action. then we see the craziest thing. an older tall slender black dude in a redsox jersey and a denim skirt with sneakers. wtf? funny. we later see the dude standing at the bar ordering a drink from hot ass marcus (the bartender) with his hand up his skirt, jerking his meat. he became known to us as Jack in the Skirt. lol we moved onto the bar. removed our shirts. there was a steady stream of guys walking by trying to cruise us. we begin to mug down and are otherwise all over each other. dudes begin to gather ..haha. then these two guys interrupt us and we kinda hang with them the rest of the evening. thanks to scotty and the dude that looks like Andy Dick (sorry cant remember your name) for great conversation and closing the place down. we had a great time here and will definately be back when in town read more

I'm honestly not writing here to be a lil cry baby bitch lol but I just left this bar and almost got into two altercations with ignorant people. First person - got into my face for something I don't agree about said he was from up north in San Jose. Bullshit lol I just walked away and gave a heads up to the person up front that there was an aggressive individual trying to get in my personal space. Second person - was waiting for Uber outsude, I had to go back inside the bar and go pee. Coming back out, the person taking care of the entrance was very rude, I was exiting and said thank you, the person responded, thank you for what?! With an attitude. We got into each other's faces but he was such a lil pussy to do something. I hope your reading this you little bitch lol Anyways. So every time I've been here, the bartenders basically ignore me for as long as possible, somewhere between 3 minutes on off nights and 1 minute on busy nights, after they've served every other person at the bar. This is after I've gotten two drinks, tipping decently on each of them. Maybe it's because I'm not who the bar is aimed at, ie older, manly man-men. Nevertheless, it makes the bartenders seem somewhere between mildly incompetent and really catty. Congratulations, Eagle LA, your bartenders are the bitchiest queens I've ever seen in a gay bar. Everything else is positive, though. Prices are good, the trough is amusing, and the crowd is generally quite fun. I'll probably come back when I'm in LA since it's so close, and maybe I'll try to talk one of the nice fellas into getting the drink for me so it won't take quite so long. read more

This place is NOT for QTPOC!!! Totally unsafe white dominant space. The Cruise night was so racist and creepy. If you are under 50 or qtpoc I recommend anywhere else. The white passing rigger with a pervy invasive stare was completely unsafe in their technique and so so rude. The bar takes forever to make a completely mediocre drink. I didn't know it was so easy to mess up a basic Manhattan that took 30 minutes to get in an uncrowded bar. The bartenders avoided serving the brown and black folks for as long as possible and then had nasty attitudes the whole time. Everyone who worked there was drunk or on some form of drug and they don't check ID at the door. Just in case you wanted to accidentally flirt with a minor the only upside was the qtpoc dancer. So I read some of the reviews on here and think it sounds like a cool place to go even though I'm not gay. My girlfriends and I had a few drinks at Akbar the week before and it was totally cool, but that was not the case with the Eagle. We got in and they were having some sort of Leather thing going on. The guys were not happy to have us there. One guys spilled his drink on my new dress and I'm sure he did it on purpose. The guys standing near us kept muttering about "fucking breeders" and shooting us dirty looks. The final straw was when I was coming out of the totally disgusting piss soaked bathroom some guy tripped me! I love gay men, but these guys were jerks! When I want to hang out with boyz I'll go back to Akbar which is much cooler and much more friendly to us "breeders." read more

I am writing this review after being a patron of Eagle L.A. for many years. The owner Charlie Matulla, his business partner, and his manager Hunter are capitalizing off of the Gay community's incessant need to exploit everyone and anyone every time anytime and all of the time. They are promoting the idea that watching pornography is harmless. I bought into this lie during the many years I was a patron at Eagle L.A. On nights this bar charges patrons a cover charge the patrons are literally paying to be exploited. It is a very sad state of affairs. The only cater to white gays who look like a Tom of Finland illustration or are white. Went during Memorial Day weekend in a shady when it wasn't busy and the bartender ignored us for seven whole minutes while we waited to get drinks. As if the gay community isn't bad enough being divided, a bar like this shouldn't have only a white (passing) staff who picks and chooses which POC they serve. Shame on the manager for not having more staff of color as well as not vetting their staff. If I could give negative stars I most definitely would. read more

The Eagle in L.A. is part of a tradition of Eagle bars all across the country from NY to SF to Chicago etc. It's all about a culture of leather and bears and that certain type of aesthetic. I think the LA Eagle adheres to that well. Lots of down to earth bearish types of guys who are friendly and approachable. There is nice testosterone, cruisy vibe. I'm not so thrilled with straight women creeping into the mix - i have no problem w/ them at the Abbey or Rage but this is a whole different scene and i wish they would respect that. read more

This place is seriously awful and has been for years. The drinks are served in disgustingly filthy glasses and everything is painted dark and dimly lit so you won't notice the rainbow of bodily fluids sprayed everywhere. The board of health should have shut this place down years ago. Parking is almost non existent and the neighborhood has become incredibly dangerous so if you insist on going to this urine soaked hell hole beware. Expect your car to be broken into. read more

I miss the Gauntlet ! We now have cliquey 20-something crowds, very young and inattentive bartenders, and an owner who appears to be a local celebnty. Some themed nights like their Bubble Pop, Caballero (no recordings or videos, just you) and Flashback Mondays. I don't believe they still have karaoke nights here, I could be wrong. Very limited seating with a chair here or there and some benches against the upper deck. Restrooms are gendered but move pretty quickly and are typically still clean. While WeHo is all forms of pup friendly. Our four legged friends aren't allowed for many reasons. There's absolutely zero room on busy nights and we wouldn't want them to hurt themselves or get hurt navigating through the day/afternoon or night here. Local street, garage and some lot parking available in the area, mostly metered, time restricted or paid, especially at night. It's a well sized dive bar meets West Hollywood, and probably one of the most welcoming in the area.

Happy Hour, Monday through Saturday - 4 to 8PM on the main weekdays (M-TH) and from 3 to 7PM (Fri, Sat). Great music! Great for watching sports! Open at 3PM Monday through Friday and as early as 1PM on Saturday and Sunday. Like most spots in the Rainbow District, aka that 1-mile super stretch of Santa Monica Blvd and 50+ LGBTQ+-owned businesses, bars and restaurants - you can enjoy Schmitty's until 2:00AM daily. Last call at 1:30AM. Gender-neutral restrooms. Parking garages close by (including off of Hancock Ave - the corner of Schmitty's) as well as street parking, but rideshare is much smoother.

I briefly toured their live show venue, and it's a very good sized stage, so I imagine it's a fun place to see a band play. This is a bar and music club, so no food, but they WERE giving out plenty of Halloween candy, and everyone was absolutely grabbing it to pair with their drinks. I hadn't been here in a while, but will start to track their calendar and find time to drop in for some music.

New Jalisco Bar near the old L.A. Times building was a mainstay for Latinos, but that died out during Covid when bars were forced to close. Also, for historical value, must list Harold's and Waldorf's which were pre-1980's and were notorious for hustlers. Waldorf's particularly got the reputation for having drag queens who supposedly stuffed their handbags with a heavy object to use as a weapon to sling around and protect themselves. Now the former owners of Redline are establishing a new bar, Kiso, which was also home to the former Score and 107, and caters to LGBTQ+ Communities. Kiso is split into three spaces: 1) Front is airy, bright, and more for Happy Hour conversations over signature cocktails and has the original, old school, long bar, that reeks of OG (Old Gay) history, from the present Barclay Hotel. 2) Middle room is more chicly sedate with more comfortable lounge seating and darker to create a more intimate atmosphere. 3) The inner room has a large dance floor and entertainment venue to host shows and related events. Some representative entertainment are DJ driven themed dance parties, obligatory drag shows, private events, fund raising, etc. Hours are 7pm to 2am Wednesday to Saturday if there are enough guests using the space. Due to lack of kitchen facilities, food will not be a main focal point. You can host an event at https://www.sickening.events/e/ Good to see that DTLA has representation within the LGBTQ+ Biosphere. 5 stars for continuing to create new spaces for the newer generations.
