Sometimes you pass, sometimes you fail, but it should always be a lesson to be better. To the moral of this statement.... I was in the market for a newer car, since my current car was about 10 years old, and I felt I deserved an upgrade. I searched around and found a few SUV's that I liked and went on the main Gene Messer website, which paired me with a salesman at their toyota location and we got in touch via email and text. I looked over their inventory and did not see anything I liked but saw one at one of their Sister Dealerships and the salesman told me "If there is a car/truck we have that you want, I can get it." I believed him. So I asked him to try to get that vehicle and I would come in for a test drive. Since this convo happened late Saturday, he said he would call the Sister dealership on Monday morning and have them bring the truck over. Monday comes.....he says he is working on it, but tells me to just come on out anyways and it should be handled by the time I get there. I figured it could not hurt, since I was already in that area, so I go. He sits with me for a few minutes, we make small talk and he keeps trying to show me other vehicles. I turn those down. He proceeds to tell me everything that is bad about my trade in and then gives me a low ball offer. I was not even concerned about my trade in because I had a large down payment. But then tells me the truck I wanted already sold. OK. So I get my keys and leave. I head to another dealership, where they not only give me 2500 more on my trade in, but also found another of the truck wanted with no issue. That salesman did his job and called around until he found it for me. Insanely enough, the original truck I wanted DID NOT ACTUALLY SELL. I had a friend call the dealership where it was and they said they still had it, and asked if my friend wanted to come in for a test drive that day. Nice, so my original salesman lied to my face, clearly did not want to work that day, and basically lost about $80,000+ in sales. How is that you ask? Well, I was seeing how my personal transaction would go, and if I came out happy, I would buy a fleet of about 4 or 5 trucks and a van for my company. Nice one Gene Messer Toyota. So, looks like they failed this test, and lost a potential repeat customer.

On our way to Lubbock, we noticed that our XC90's AC was not cooling properly. We looked up Volvo dealership in Lubbock and found James Mears Volvo. Their service team member, Mark, told great care of us. The dealership provided a video of the repairs needed and Mark call us to discuss. The parts were available and AC was repaired. After we picked up our XC90, we had some additional warning lights. We call Mark who called us right back after business hours and scheduled a time to return and address the issues. We were surprised that Mark called us back after hours. But he knew that we were trying to get back on the road the next day. What amazing service. We are used to working with DeMontrond Volvo dealership which takes great care of us. It was a relief that there are other reliable Volvo dealerships in Texas. Thank you Mark and James Mears Volvo!

They assured me many many times there was nothing wrong with it besides needing to put on the two back handles and the driver handle. It seemed like a really good deal and they seemed trustworthy, so I bought it with the promise of them installing the handles the next week. It is now November I've dropped about 6000 just trying to keep this car together, it has a blown head gasket, broken valve cover, they put water instead of windshield wiper fluid, the key fab doesn't unlock my doors at all AND i didn't get my handles until the second or third week of October and that's only because i kept calling every Friday. I lived off of Ubers for 3 weeks while they lied about how long it would take to get the second replacement. Then, that second replacement pump turned out faulty after another two weeks. I hope that this was incompetence and not crookedness... though I think that's wishful thinking. Additionally, one of my Uber drivers during this process told me that his dad had a similar issue. They messed up his car worse than before he took it in.

I don't want to sound sexist or racist, but if you are a minority woman a "stealership" will have a target on you the second arrive on the lot. It's pathetic and disgusting, If I could have gone with her to shop for a car, I would. She's incredibly independent and I admire her for even doing this monumental task on her own. In March, 2016, my daughter purchased a red 2013 Hyundai Accent and the first night she brought it home the battery DIED. I told her that even with a used car, the battery shouldn't need to be replaced and you haven't had it 24 hours. After this happened we discovered a lot of issues with the dealership and car. Let's start with what I didn't like about this deal: She only had one car key The battery died the first NIGHT she brought it home The back tire wobbled The front bumper was coming unattached on the passenger side Numerous conversations with the sales person AND a manager we got them to "fix" the bumper, get a remote lock and key, and do an alignment. A few months later the "repaired" bumper came unattached AGAIN. Fast forward nine months, January, 2017, she decides to return the car to Tejas Motors. She called them and told them to pick up the car. It took them 3 almost 4 weeks to come pick up the car. When the manager came to obtain the keys he asked me what was the reason for her returning the car. I gave him the list of reasons and gave him both keys to the car. He walked towards the car but stopped and "inspected" at the bumper. The next day, my daughter's insurance company called to inform her that Tejas Motors filed a claim against her insurance for the bumper!! The audacity of it's as bare-faced, make-money-any-way-you-can business as is possible this side of organized crime.
