That wasn't a big deal seeing we were passing a Cabela's near by that had one. Despite not having a dump station they still get a 5 star because of how welcoming they were to us.

The repair shop wasn't able to get the truck fixed before the weekend was over, so Rocco said we could keep it there as long as needed. Highly recommend staying at Hicks. They treat you like family and went way above and beyond! Even when we came back the following Sunday we were welcomed in. Can't wait to return.

Having quiet time start at 2 am is NOT a good idea. Midnight is late enough. Some people have children, and some people do like to get some sleep. Those that party and carry on til 2 am never stop after that because they are drunk and obnoxious. Security can tell them a million times to stop, but as soon as he rolls away, they start again. If this place wants to maintain the family atmosphere they advertise, they need to revisit quiet time. It's a great place until late night.

There is also much needed maintenance on the driveways especially at the entrance with multiple pot holes. They could also work on the grading issues in the parking areas. Maintain the property and it's an easy two star jump!

The campground staff was very helpful leading up to our stay whenever I would email them with questions or concerns. We planned to arrive late at night/early in the morning so we weren't sure if we could check in, but thankfully the check-in area was open 24/7 allowing us to set up when most would be asleep. Near our campsite, the campground set up a little shop area with multiple coolers of ice for sale, which came in very handy with our food and beverage consumption. Also at the shop, they had hats, t-shirts, koozies, and shot glasses with Farmer Bob's logos on them, along with bug spray, ponchos, and other camping supplies. The workers there were very helpful and even recommended that we take a short drive to the nearby lake if we weren't busy to experience the beauty of the land. The proximity of the campground to the speedway way wasn't too far, but it was a decent walk. Farmer Bob's provided shuttle buses to the speedway anyways, which we took advantage of. After the game, on the way back we walked back and surprisingly got back to our site pretty easily thanks to paths on the campground from the road. Camping at Farmer Bob's was a great experience and the next time I plan to camp in Bristol that will be the first place I go to.

THE BIGGER ISSUE: I was charged three separate times for the campground over the course of almost two months (three $400 charges totaling almost $1,200; I had only authorized the original $400 charge). Apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to, according to other reviews online. The charges came at random times/dates and were completely unexpected both times. They never responded to emails or phone calls/voicemails, and I had to contact my bank for a refund and to block them from charging my card again. I tried calling for two weeks, and nothing was ever returned. Would not recommend.

The result is 0 parking spots and no space for anyone to comfortably enjoy themselves. The fire pits all blow smoke at each other and the tents fill up with other tent sites fire pit smoke. Noise issues: Want to go to sleep at a reasonable time? Too bad. Two nights in a row a bunch of drunkards were blasting music and having a great time from 9pm until 3am. Don't plan on getting much sleep if it's a busy weekend. Barking dogs, screaming kids, loud music, and noisy people well into the night. Safety concerns: the main small beach near the domes where everyone plays is littered with boulders and sharp rocks in the water. Maybe nothing can be done about that. However open inspecting the rotting wood steps leading to the water I found an actual sharp-to-a-point metal spike sticking straight up out of the wood. Luckily I was able to hammer down with a large rock, however that was an impaled foot or worse waiting to happen. There's lots of exposed rebar and it's generally unsafe. Considering how many kids and drunk adults loiter in that area, it's only a matter of time until someone needs stitches. No wonder they have you sign a liability waiver to be here. Lack of facility maintenance: The door locks on most of the bathrooms don't work. The hot water in the showers is barely functional if at all. The wood ramp to the shipping container showers becomes very slippery when wet and poses a safety hazard. There's a wasp sanctuary under the deck as well. Several adults and children were stung this weekend simply walking up the ramp to the bathrooms. With all the money this place is making is there no time to fix and maintain these things? Last but not least, THE CAMP DOGS: a gentleman came to our group and asked that we put all our dogs on leashes (despite them already being on leashes at the time...) and then allows the "camp dog" which is a large black and white husky to roam freely. This dog is an A**HOLE. It constantly bothers people's camp sites and tries to pick fights with other dogs. Our dogs were personally harassed by this dog when he came to our campsite and started eating our dogs food. Then tried to start a fight with our dogs. Then tried to BITE MY WIFE. I had to chase him off every couple hours both days. This dog should not be allowed off leash however the campground owners don't have enough self awareness to do so. All in all, it's been fun over the last few years, but this place has grown too big for the owners and staff to properly manage. Won't likely be coming here again, and we'll be sure to let everyone know what it's become.

After enjoying the sunsets we sat by the fire evenings (firewood provided) and saw a few shooting stars. Great hiking close by--loved the Laurel Falls hike. At the suggestion of Hellbenders outfitters went kayaking on Wilbur lake which topped the list of best things we did all weekend. Simply spectacular. We planned to eat in so cannot speak to local restaurant scene other than we did stop for a snack at Big Dan's Bbq in Elizabethtown and it was very good. Would have liked to try the brewery next door but it didn't open until later. We didn't even get a chance to check out Watuga Lake other than drive around a bit and it looks beautiful. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely stay at Lake Haven campground again.

From the moment you arrive, they go above and beyond--checking you in, helping deliver hay and supplies to the barn, assisting you with backing in your trailer, and even knowing exactly what's needed to get it leveled. The paddocks are fantastic and give your horses plenty of space to roam and relax after a long ride. Everything was well-maintained--clean, freshly mowed, and the bathrooms were spotless and spacious. As for the trails, there aren't many. The main 8-mile trail is mostly an old blacktop/gravel road. We also rode the Morrell Trail, which takes you to the top of the mountain. Be prepared for a lot of switchbacks--about 16 inches wide--with a drop-off on one side and a dirt or rock wall on the other. We had an inexperienced rider with us on a solid horse and had no issues. I'm glad we did it, but I probably wouldn't do it again--lol. I've seen some comments about the road leading into the campground. Yes, it is narrow, but I didn't have any problems with my 35-foot truck and trailer. Honestly, I've been on narrower roads in Indiana. We also took a day trip to the Blue Hole, which is definitely worth visiting--especially on a hot day. One tip: don't wear flip-flops for the walk down.

Parking an RV was easy as all their RV sites are pull thru and have water and electric. The sites are very long and we didn't even need to unhitch the truck with lots of room to spare. Once we got here. I can see why people come back. Their very nice and laid back. The campground is very well maintained. We checked out the bathrooms and their super clean and nice. Campfire wood is available and they pickup the garbage every night. It'd be a great place to come stay a while. I'm certain we will be back. This place is a hidden gem and highly recommended.

We were the only tent campers there so we had our choice of location. We found the bathhouse to be immaculate with a single huge shower stall - separate sides for men and women. There are also a washer and dryer and a gas grill available for guests to use. Windy, the proprietor, is a friendly and extremely knowledgeable guy. The campground is near "The Snake" and the AT. Be aware that the town consists of 2 businesses. A small diner with good cheap food and a general store that sells fast food type things. These businesses only accept cash.

So, 3 stars is mostly for the customer service (or lack of) rather than the amenities, which were really nice.

When we asked if we got a break for cutting our time short due to the boat, we were told, "No, we only have one season!" Not sure what that's supposed to mean.
