Absolutely a joke. Would not recommend. Very unprofessional, mean, and did not get the job done. Save your money and be careful.

From location standpoint it seems ideal for an…read moreemployee of a downtown business or a person considering enrollment in the ARS programs because they are on the same street. My 18 month old daughter was enrolled in January because I was starting a new position. This was not her first daycare experience and I loved her previous daycare had it not closed. After 6 months in the childcare facility I have removed my child and placed her in a smaller, community involved daycare center closer to him. I made this change after interviewing past employees and parents. My husband and I made the decision to remove our child because of the following factors. Factor One: I received a call from the daycare saying that my child had a fever and was crying. I asked how long she had been crying. The teacher advised a while. I asked her to clarify a while...in which she told me that she had been crying for an hour. I was very upset and told the teacher at the time that I was upset that I had not been called sooner and that my child was crying for an hour with no consoling. Factor Two: In daycare you hear the term "biter" and you get concerned. Well in the waddlers room I was informed by the teacher that there were several kids who had bite tendencies. I asked how they were planning to prevent them. They advised that they isolate the child after it's happened. My child was bitten 4 times. Each on Fridays. When I picked up my child there was a "bite report" simply advising the date that it happened and the teacher. No instructions on how it was handled and I did not receive a call. I call daily to check on my child and I was not told. Upon hearing this and being very upset along with my husband I spoke to the director's husband Jimmy Holcombe. I asked what their bite policy was. He said "Kids bite, if we terminated every child that bit then we'd have no kids." There was one instance that I picked my child up and the bite was so deep you could see the perfect outline of teeth marks and a bruise. There was no paper and no teacher could tell me what happened. I went straight to Jimmy and his response was "We'll get you a paper on Monday." I don't care about a paper. I want to know that my child is safe and is not going to be bitten. I also witnessed a bite as it was happening at the daycare. They picked up the bitten child, wiped her tears and put a cold compress on the arm. The child who committed the biting act was not removed. She went on to play and was not reprimanded. After these cases I began a search for a child care facility that I could entrust my child's safety to during the day. Upon placing my child I called to report that my daughter was no longer to be enrolled. I expressed my concerns with Piper Cline-Holcombe the director and her response was only "Due you plan on paying your balance?" My response of course was yes. She then hung up the phone. I then received a call from the husband Jimmy Holcombe very angry and aggressive. While asking me questions he interrupted during my responses so that he could move onto his own point or next question. When addressing the biting concerns his responses were "When's the last time that she was bit?" April. "It's July, so that's not the point or the problem." Forgive me but I don't care how long ago an incident occurs. It was still a problem that was never fixed, addressed or solved. He then continued with the following statements. "I think this is about money. You don't want to pay me. We've had a problem getting money out of you since the beginning." My response was that money was not the issue. I had already taken care of child care for that week with another facility. And that we had several discussions on my pay period and he never went without payment. He expected to receive payment of $618 by the 15th of each month. I simply asked if I could pay weekly or pay half on the 15th and the other half on the 30th. He never went without payment. Upon advising him that I had made payment to another facility his response was this. "You pay me first. You don't pay anyone else. I've already watched your child. You pay me my money. I want MY MONEY." I had every intention of paying him and didn't understand why he was being so ugly about her leaving. The conversation of my child's removal could have been pleasant and without argument. Simply stating that I would pay whatever child care days I still owed him which were for 14 days and that if any of her belongings were there I would like to pick them up. He then said that he wanted to come to my place of employment to pick up a check or a post dated check. I advised I would pay him on Friday. He then advised the follow "Everyone who leaves me with a balance I pursue them with legal action, hard and fast!" He's making the issue about money...which is not the case. I brought him back down to the issue and asked him to stop yelling at me. He then called me a liar. Do not recommend this place.

They exceeded all expectations, and I am realizing what childcare SHOULD be like compared to the old daycare. Dogwood excels in the following areas that I find important: Communication: The staff is prompt to communicate on all platforms, through the app, email, and phone. Food: they send out the weekly meal plan, and it's always healthy and nutritious food that my son loves. He's a 99th percentile guy, and so he eats a lot and is never hungry when I pick him up (unlike our old daycare). He probably eats better than me most days here! Staff: I can't say enough great things about the management and teachers here. From the moment we walk in, there's a smiling face at the front desk available to help with anything we need. The teachers clearly love what they do, my son loves them so much. After a year of challenging drop off and pickups with tears at the old place, it's refreshing that there hasn't been a bad handoff since the 2nd week. He even tried to go back in after picking him up he likes it so much. Facility: it's a beautiful facility and CLEAN!! Ample parking, and well thought out. Photos: I have received photos every day, to me this is important as the old daycare I was lucky to get 1 photo a month. They even put little text with it sometimes. This makes going to work and leaving my son at school a lot easier. To summarize this very long review, Dogwood is excellent and my only regret is not coming here sooner. We do drive 10 minutes further because we feel the level of care our son receives is worth it.

Our son absolutely loves Dogwood! And so do we!!!…read more Our son has been at dogwood since he was an infant. As he has progressed through the different age groups, each and every class room has been wonderful. Teachers are always willing to communicate, we have transparency into his daily activities, we get multiple photos daily of his activities, and he is learning so much. The food they serve is healthy and my son loves it. He gets breakfast and lunch each day. All home made right at the school. Their education programming is thoughtful and fun, with themed ideas each week/month that are great. They value sensory learning at a young age and keep children engaged as they get older with one on one learning each day. They also have as few plastic toys as possible, focusing on natural materials. Overall we feel like my son is in great hands each day!!!
