We always use this business to get from Capitola to San Jose Airport. Once I was so thirsty when we got to the airport and guess what....the driver had bottled water for his guests. This is a hard review to write because all of their drivers are simply wonderful and rate a 5. But my overall rating of 1 is their front staff email support. I was literally in tears and incredibly upset after dealing with their email support person who treated me like a stupid person and they were openly hostile and condescending to me (I have a 30+ year career in technical engineering - I am not stupid). I cancelled the entirely of the reservation and a wonderful friend rescued me at the airport at the last minute because I had no way to get home late at night. I will never use this company again. This will now always be my go to shuttle service from Aptos to SFO. The driver arrived on time and was super friendly and an amazing driver. The vehicle was extremely comfortable. The pick up 42 days later was seamless and the driver was very cordial. This is a wonderful company. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional and the drivers are great. Today Kristof drove us to SFO over rainy Highway 17. He arrived a few minutes ahead of time, loaded our car with all our luggage and was very friendly. Just after the Summit, we suddenly hit a full stop and could see from navigation apps that there were not one, but two accidents ahead of us. We were able to crawl up a few hundred feet over about 15 minutes and Kristof knew all the back roads--it was a relief and wonderful. It took almost two hours to get to SFO, but if he hadn't navigated off of Hwy 17, we'd probably sat there for--well, who knows. Anyone who lives on the SC side of the hill knows the perils of Hwy 17. Early Bird shuttle picked up my daughter from UC Santa Cruz for Christmas break and took her to San Jose airport. It was so convenient because they picked her up in front of the bookstore on campus. She arrived to the airport on time and was very pleased. We also used them three weeks later for her return trip back to campus. When they went to pick her up at the airport, my daughter was at the wrong pick up spot but Early Bird made sure to find her and did not leave her behind. I was shocked, when I recently booked Early Bird to not see my previous glowing reviews. Something must've happened because I use them 4X in a two month period last spring, and just could not praise them high enough. We had canceled and repeat, delayed flights out of New York, and Kristen was incredibly on top of all the communication. I'd say the service and timeliness was superb and better than I could've expected with a family member picking me up. By that I'm referring to no breakdown in communication at multiple delays. A few weeks ago, I called to book a ride on one days and was so glad there was availability. Sometime it is a bit of a splurge, especially when it's just me riding. But for an early flight and/or holiday or commute, traffic, or the frequent road work it is a good splurge, in terms of arriving on time and relaxed, rather than frazzled by traffic and the added pain of looking for parking when driving my own car. The cars are always quite comfortable. I particularly like the hybrid Toyota Avalon. Loads of legroom, smooth leather interiors, and very quiet ride. read more

Never ever ever ever use this service. I flew in on an international flight and unfortunately had a nonworking cellphone. They were supposed to meet me at SFO Courtyard G. They were a NO SHOW. After countless back and forth in which, in so and so many words I was called a liar. The cab ride home cost me $300 for which I have a receipt. I disputed EArly Bird's charge on Amex and again, they claimed to Amex that I was a no show. Really?!? I guess they really needed the $140. When I need a service to be there, I expect them to be there. They weren't and it created a massive problem for me. They lost my trust, have no credibility and don't get what customer experience means. I don't recommend them. read more

Calling to make the initial reservation for a flight 2 weeks in advance was easy. I called back the next day (on a Friday) to cancel the reservation I made the day before. The woman that answered the phone was rude and kept sucking her teeth at me when I asked repeatedly not to be put on hold AGAIN! The call to cancel the initial reservation and book something for a few days later took almost 33 minutes to complete. At one point I was put on hold for about 6 minutes. When the woman returned to the call, I asked not to be put on hold. I was told that there were other callers she had to deal with and that she was "real busy right now." I told her I could call back in an hour or so if that would make things easier. She sucked her teeth and me and said, "hold on." So, I waited. All I wanted was to cancel my initial pickup and change the request to have a pick at the airport a few days later for my small group (3 people). So, the day of the canceled pickup comes and the shuttle shows up. I tell the driver that there was a cancellation for this pickup and I show her my printed e-mail confirmation that it was indeed canceled. The driver is nice and just tells me they probably didn't do their job right at dispatch. Next, I get a call from the shuttle dispatch office. I'm told that I'll be charged for the non-cancellation for the pickup. I tell her that I can forward the cancellation e-mail to her so she can see that it was cancelled way in advance. So, I send the e-mail over. She tells and I quote : "These reservations are all messed up. I need to know what you said because they put it in here like this because of something you told us. They didn't get this messed up by magic." Mind you, she raised her voice at me when she said this. WHAT?!?! I cannot believe she just blamed how terribly either ill trained or incompetent the worker(s) were that took my reservations and cancellation. I tell her that I would like to stay on the phone line until she reviews the forwarded email that I received from them regarding my requests. What does she say to that? "Do NOT insult my intelligence." Wow. Just wow. I have taken shuttles all over the world. I have been to some nasty third world countries. I can assure you that this place is probably in my top 3 of the most incompetent and rude WORLDWIDE when dealing with their customer service line. In the end, because I had proof of my cancellation I did not have to pay for their mistake. However, I received no kind of compensation for my time. At the least, the woman on the phone could not even say a simple "Sorry. My mistake." read more

Will not use again. They charge more than our regular shuttle service and have very poor customer service. As a business customer, I expect a receipt to give to my finance department as general practice or in case of an audit. I should not have to call to ask for one and not get it as told. Then call the next day and ask again only to be told they are really busy and they'll get around to it in the next few days. Bad form. read more

Always courteous and helpful. Yah it may be a little more pricey than driving and parking yourself, or using a shuttle service. But when you're on a trip, you have enough hassles to deal with, why not start and end your trip on a pleasant relaxing stress-free note? It's well worth it. Especially pays off on the return trip, when you are no doubt tired and frazzled after the long flight, and without that pre-trip excitement. What a godsend to have Early Bird waiting there ready to whisk you home. Using Early Bird also pays off when you are traveling with the whole family. They can bring a minivan with car seats, if need be, and it is a LOT less hassle than driving and parking yourself, juggling kids and baggage on those airport parking buses. Why not get dropped off right at curbside check-in? I used to travel a lot. Have used a lot of car services in my day. These folks are far and away the best. read more

I have used Early Bird twice this year, and I can't recommend them highly enough! The first time was this past July, when I needed a very early morning ride from my home in the Santa Cruz Mountains to San Francisco to catch a flight to Ireland. I was a bit worried, as people often have trouble finding our house during the day, let alone at 2:00 a.m.! The driver was right on-time, however (a couple of minutes early, as a matter of fact), and it was so nice to be able to doze a bit on the way to the airport instead of fighting fatigue! The driver was very nice and professional, and it was worth every penny not to have to ask my poor husband to drive me to SFO well before the break of dawn on a work day! I was so pleased with the service that we contracted with Early Bird to take all three of us to SFO for a trip at the end of September. This time we scheduled a pick up at the airport for after our trip as well. Same great service, and they were there waiting for us when our flight landed, even though the flight got in a bit early. When you compare the price to the cost of long-term parking at the airport (or to the hassle of finding someone to drive you), and factor in the pleasure of not having to drive 60 miles when you're sleep-deprived or jet-lagged, it really is a no-brainer. I figure this cost us about $50 more than long-term parking for the same period (almost three weeks), and was worth more than that for the comfort and peace of mind. All I got was a "Nope...we're fully booked" Now I accept that this happens but I was struck by the lack of C/S no referral... no recommendation...no options. If they had, as US Sales Mang. I scheduled a pickup at SJC to Santa Cruz the day before arrival. After waiting 20 minutes past the scheduled pickup time, I call to confirm the shuttle is on the way. "Yes, but there's bad traffic. It should be there soon" 10 minutes later, they call to say there was a mixup, the shuttle was never dispatched, and the next shuttle will arrive in an hour. At this point, I've wasted half an hour, plus the 45 minutes I waited for the scheduled shuttle. I cancelled the shuttle and took an Uber home. Uber cost me 10 dollars more, but I will gladly pay the small cost increase in the future. The inflexible schedule and unreliable service of Early Bird mean I will not be doing business with them in the future. read more

I kept looking on Yelp and Google to find a business who could do this for a reasonable amount and still be dependable. I found Early Bird Airport Shuttle/Santa Cruz Flyer on Google and sent an email. They were willing to have a direct billing for the school so I thought a win win. They were any where from a few hundred less to $60 less than I was being quoted from other places. I thought another win win. The students were picked up on time (both from the airport and then again from the hotel back to the airport). All of them said that the drivers were friendly, helpful and telling them how the family that owns the company is really supportive and great employers.
