I really wish there were more than five stars so that I could give even more to this wonderful…read moreorganization. As the name says, they rescue Boston Terriers(BT) and find them loving and caring homes. If they find that the dogs they've rescued needs medical help, they will get them the help they need. I cannot say enough about how amazing the group of volunteers here are. They're never more than a phone call away and they've never made me feel as if I was being a bother to them. Please keep in mind that if you decide to foster or adopt a pup from them, they will definitely take all measures to make sure they find the right home for their dogs. For example, some dogs might need to be the only dog in the house while other dogs thrive with more dogs to hang out with. For those of you that don't know anything about BT's I have to tell you that they're a great dog... silly, funny, crazy, sweet, smart and extremely loyal. We now own our second BT and I can now say we'll probably be BT owners for life! They are run on donations and have several events through the year to raise funds for the shelter whether it be through auctions, BT calendars sale, and donations through their website. If you're looking to adopt a furry companion I definitely recommend you looking here, I promise you won't be sorry. If you can, please remember to adopt don't shop!

My wife…read moreand I have a friend we help frequently and found out about the Sharing Center through our local church. On my first visit here, I was blown away by the services they provide to the homeless community. Our friend used to be homeless for many years but his social worker helped him get into an apartment. Even though he is not homeless currently he still has access to all the sharing center has to offer. He basically receives free medical services, clothing, food, and they also have a restaurant here where he can eat for free, pretty dang amazing! The Sharing Center takes up an entire strip mall lot and is conveniently located off of 17/92 in between Florida and Orange Ave. There is ample parking, and the general public has access to the main store as well, but it's not free for us, lol! Regardless, most items are discounted to what you would see at most thrift stores. The main store contains everything you would see in a thrift store; clothes, shoes, linens, towels, kitchen utensils, cooking equipment, vacuum cleaners, books, magazines, records, CD's, toys, purses, bags, some musical instruments, electronics, and more. This store connects to another store that houses mostly furniture, paintings, wall art, lamps, some workout equipment, knick-knacks, collectables and more. Then there is another doorway that leads into a Boutique, with more thrift store type items, but Higher-end; fine dresses, silver plated silverware sets, jewelry, fancy shoes (like-new), premium sunglasses, and select Disney logo items. My wife and mom purchased several tops from this store. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything here that I needed. There was a used Clarinet for sale. I asked the clerk if she could take it out of the case so I could assess it and when I did, I could tell it was in rough shape. They were asking $150 for the instrument and when I looked it up online, that's what it was selling for used, but it would have cost me more than $150 just to have this thing serviced by a proper technician, so definitely not worth the purchase. The staff here are all very friendly and the store is clean. There are dressing rooms available to verify the fit of clothing and there are restrooms available to customers. We are very thankful for the Sharing Center because they support the community in a passionate way and have helped our friend who has had a difficult and troubled life. We donate to the Sharing Center frequently to support their cause. The Sharing Center has an amazing selection of items for sale at a fair price. I highly recommend stopping in to support them by shopping here if you are in the area.

The organization also offers emergency aid, gift cards, and Christmas assistance, and coordinates donations for local and international disaster relief efforts. They have this location in Sanford and also one in Port Orange. To date, 549 million dollars of supplies have been distributed. I was driving by and spotted Harvest Time. It looked so interesting that I had to stop to check it out. Inside is a guest services desk to help clients. The rest of the building is a store that sells discounted items. Corporate sponsors like Walmart. Disney, and CVS Health donate their extra inventory. There was pantry and frozen food including a wall of bread and bagels along with beauty items, hardware, clothes, sunglasses, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, party items, sheets and blankets, Mickey Mouse popcorn buckets straight from Disney World, and even oil for your car. Harvest Time charges a $7 membership to shop the store which I would gladly have paid if I was local but the friendly cashier let me know that one time visitors can get a free daily pass to shop. I grabbed a cart and stocked up on a summertime worth of snacks and goodies. I loved learning about this amazing organization and all of the good they are doing in the community. If you live local, Harvest Time can really help your budget. Bring your own bag!

The razor had been used and was full of men's black hair when we got home and when we brought it back and showed them, they were very rude and said oh well you should have opened the box and checked. We have been members of theirs since way before they moved across the street from their location they are in now in Sanford. The manager Dara or Dahrla was rude too. Needless to say we ended up throwing it away in their trash in front of them and told them they shouldn't be selling items that have already been used. I WILL NEVER come to them ever again. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone. I even asked the manager after showing her it was used if she would use that and she said no, that is gross. I asked her then what makes you think that we or anyone else would want to use items that have been used by other people already? She didn't have anything else to say. She did tell me that they have signs all over that say to please check items and open boxes because sales are final. I walked around with her and the only thing all their signs say are sales are final, not to check or open boxes or test anything. I pointed that out to her and she was nasty and rude about it because I showed her she was a liar. I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM PLACE ANY STARS IF IT WAS UP TO ME BUT YELP AND GOOGLE REQUIRE STARS RATINGS TO POST REVIEWS.

There is a boutique section and they also sell discounted items from the Publix bakery. In a backroom they have a treasure trove of items for one dollar. I had so much fun exploring this store and peeking around corners and opening cabinets to discover even more items. Different weekly sales are on the board out front. This is such a wonderful cause to support. If I lived locally this thrift store would be on my weekly rotation.

I visited Feeding Children Everywhere's site, and saw an event at their headquarters in Longwood. I easily signed up my family of four for a one hour slot this past Saturday morning. We arrived a few minutes before our designated time. We were greeted at the door and immediately provided a hairnet. We killed a few minutes by looking at the merchandise available at the front. After a short briefing, we were divided up and sent to a table. We were given simple tasks and trained quickly. The meal we were assigned to put together was Hamburger Hero. It consisted of pasta noodles, vegetables and a special seasoning. I love that this is a volunteer opportunity the whole family can participate in. Kids get to scoop, pour, fill bags through a funnel... my boys both were in charge of weighing the bags after they were filled. They either had to add food, or remove it depending on what the scale said. They had a blast! The fun part was that their was Christmas music blasting and a friendly competition of who could fill up the most boxes. Each time a box was filled, we would ring a bell and the whole room would cheer. So much fun! We felt good that we did at least a SMALL part of helping fight hunger. Please do the same and sign up when you can.
