The Town of Occoquan is constantly voted the #1 Tourist Destination in Prince William County each year & I love to get haaappy in Occoquan - any hour - sitting on the riverfront, listening to some live music. You'll find some vintage shops (may be a good place for antiquing ), the local store/grocery type place (they make their own ice cream) , a couple restaurants (which by the way is why I was in Occoquan), the town hall, small boat ramps along the river and maybe a few other things a small town would offer. Like I mentioned, it was the eatery (one in particular "The Secret Garden") that got me there and it was darn good. I will look forward to my next visit and meal.

She took time to learn what I was shopping for, recognized my style, helped 100% to fit me for each gown, & provided honest feedback. Sefika quickly offered a few more gowns as I changed between trying them on & because of her help, I found the gown I was looking for! Over the years I've bought a coat, leggings, jewelry, and other "bohemian" style clothing and gifts. It is the store that you go into and have an experience. We laughed, we did fashion shows and along with my personal preference the owner Nathalie was there to share information and make suggestions on items that I may have missed. I am a world traveler and I can tell you there are beautiful things that they have obviously acquired internationally adding a different flavor to those daring to be individuals while being "fly" at the same time, and at a great price. As if things could not get any worse from the last visit. I came into the store to return an item…read moreon 11/14/2018. The merchandise was purchased on 10/14/2018. According to the receipt I have 30 days to return or exchange. The young lady at the register calls her manager over and the manager tell me that I can only exchange it for a item with the same price because the receipt at the bottom says the last day to EXCHANGE is 11/13/2018. Keep in mind the same receipt says return or exchange within 30 days. The manager proceeds to tell me that my receipt has expired and I had to return or exchange by 11/13/2018 so there was nothing she could do. She even goes further to say that if she were to try to do the return on the register is would say that the receipt was expired and would not let her even start or let alone do a return. Well, I can see the register from where I am standing so I ask if she can show me so I can see what she was talking about. She scans the receipt and nothing, I mean nothing pops up on the register saying that the receipt was expired or anything. So I said oh looks like you can do it after all. Why don't you try it and lets see together if it lets you refund my money back to me, afterall I do not shop here often and would like to be rid of this single piece of merchandise so I can be on my way. Imagine the look on her face as she stood there amazed that that the register was "letting her" refund my money back to me. She then goes on to talk to the other associate as if I am no longer standing there, which I am and says something to the effect of "I wonder if this is because of the holiday so it adds a day to the return date?" How sway? Just how? As she completes my refund, she gives me a copy of my return receipt and tells me to have a nice day in a real bitter tone. Do not be bitter with me, be bitter with the register who made you look like you did not know what you were talking about. Sounds like you two should go grabs drinks after work and talk about how you can work on your communication with each other.

I was super annoyed being I'm 7 months pregnant and was looking for something quickly. My issue was that they were being very rude in there approach letting patrons know they were closing. Might as well lock the door at 730 if you just going to harass people the whole time. There were 3 young ladies in the store not one them asked if we needed help when came in just standing around. No one wanted to tell me there name cause they were wrong. One young lady was being very aggressive and telling me that if we weren't out by 8 she was going to cal security on me. I just reminded her that the patrons are how she get paid. She was approaching me like she was going to jump at me as another employee came to stand in front of her. I'm 7 months pregnant I'm not going to fight you if that's what she was thinking. But to be harassed by this obnoxious young lady was disgusting uncalled for behavior. I will never step foot in this store after return the items that I purchased. I'm sure the owners wouldn't appreciate this.

She gave me space as I walked around and looked at the different work bags, but she was absolutely available and happy to answer any questions I had. I left the store to go to another one in search of a work bag, but couldn't stop thinking of one I saw on clearance. So, I went back. I had come to the mall for a Tumi bag, and dangit I was going to get one. As soon as I came back Afia greeted me again - and she remembered me. Granted it had only been 5-10 minutes but still, that meant a lot. I picked up the bag I couldn't get off my mind, and took it to the register. To my surprise it was an extra 25% off (it was on the clearance table but I wasn't sure if the clearance signs applied to the orange stickers or if the orange stickers were representative of the final discounted price - it's a lawyer thing to think that way lol). Anyway, she was so helpful, let me know I could monogram the bag for free at any Tumi store (not outlet one though), and also highly recommended the bag I was purchasing. I was in the store wearing faded leggings, dirty sneakers, sweaty as heck from just having hiked 4 miles - and the whole time I felt welcomed and not once judged. So, whoever manages that store - know that you have a wonderful employee there. She's a gem!! Fantastic customer service aside, this was a very clean, easy to navigate store. Lots of wonderful options (though I wish they still made the earl grey color, but that's not this stores fault lol). Tumi makes very high quality travel or business pieces that each carry a good, long warranty (5 years I think). I highly recommend not only the brand, but this specific outlet store.

However, it is very authentic African attire. The materials are heavy and somewhat stiff, which gifts them the most amazing flow when you are moving around or walking. It is not like the overworked materials we often use in the US. I bought a skirt from here a few years back and it still looks the same as it did the day I bought it, even after countless washes, the colors are vibrant and the fabric has stayed true to form. Their sizes are not always 100% aligned to American sizing charts. I am a full figured woman, who can usually only shop at plus-sized stores, but I have found items that fit me perfectly at ME2. Though other items are a definite stretch. All that being said, the one item I have to RAVE about are their FANS!!! I know it sounds crazy, but they have these gorgeous, fabric fans that are made of a thick, sturdy material. They are collapsible, but not flimsy in any way. Whenever I pull one out, EVERYONE wants to know where I got it, because they are so beautiful and so useful. I have bought enough to give as gifts that I should buy stock in the store. So even if you never plan to wear a stitch of African clothing, this store is worth the visit!!
