I stepped into this special space and told the older gentleman what I was looking for. He was so kind and opened every case for me to try rings on while I had my son in his infant carrier. He made me laugh and out me at ease. I kept apologizing for trying on every ring because I wanted to find "the one." I went to that shop a few years ago, and decided to buy a silver ring with what the artisan claimed was a fire opal from Australia. I was also told that this was a one-off ring, an original design. It cost $200. On a later visit, I went back to Village Silversmith, and found they were selling many rings of the exact same design that I was told was a one-off, and for only $50! More recently, I was talking to a gemologist & jewelry designer at his Cambridge store, and showed him the ring. The gemologist told me the so-called Australian fire opal is an artificial stone!! A complete & double rip off. I will NEVER AGAIN buy anything at Village Silversmith.

The man behind the counter chimes into said conversation by saying, "yeah that piece is so nice" Annoyed--so i put back the earring and proceed to the small display of rings. just staring at them. He again says" we have that moonstone ring over here as well in other colors and in gold and in many sizes--he kept pushing and pushing the item no matter what angle you said that you weren't interested or were looking for something different. Again we move to another part of the store and the woman hollers out for us to go up stairs and how amazing it is up there. 'I reply, we've already been up stairs" This was our cue to leave. I'm sorry -- THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE. you're trying wayyyy to hard to be something you're not. Leave the hippy bit for someone else.
