Lot of crap... we walked around all the booths and floors for probably 3 hours and ended up with not much to show for except for tired backs and feet. The things that weelrw unique and worth getting, even the things thag were mildly interesting were so over priced it made me feel like I wasted a day walking around here. It was an hour and a half trip so overall juice not worth the squeeze. Selection is a lot of stuff t hat looks like transfer station still good shed items... maybe 5-6 legit booths total of the 75 vendors. Check your records before buying almost all the ones I looked at were scratched. read more

Canal Street Antique Mall is BIG! Allow yourself time to puruse the cool things! Bring yourself a coffee! Eat breakfast/lunch ahead of time! Everything is tagged and priced. For the most part we're going the prices low-fair! Bonus!!! If you're on the fence, price won't be a determining factor most likely. If there's a piece on the pricier side, there's usually some kind of description for the why behind the price. They have roller carts like target ands hand baskets to hold your things. The winding staircase is beautiful. Great spot for a photo! Yes they have bathrooms! Easily accessible! We're still confused but there's the main canal street antique mall with 2 full floors AND across the parking lot is another space on the 4th floor. I first found Canal Street Antique Mall many years ago from a moving sign outside of one of my favorite antique stores, formerly in Salem NH on Route 97. The sign read that they had moved to 181 Canal Street in Lawrence, MA. Happily when I arrived at the new location I arrived at my home away from home! It's conveniently located right off of Route 495 and there's plenty of parking. The restrooms are also easily accessible immediately upon entering the Mall. Make sure you bring a light snack & a drink/water because you're going to want to spend some serious time perusing all of the 3 floors of uniquely hand crafted crafts, hand painted furniture. If you prefer, you can get your inspiration from the finished pieces & buy one which is a blank slate for your own personal touches. They sell the most beautiful jewelry, lamps, records and too many things to list. The employee are so kind and helpful but they leave you alone to shop in peace. of course an old building full of old and curious things and people will have that antique store back room smell. it wasnt noxious though which was awesome. staff was friendly and polite. theres so much random stuff and things i could wander and wonder for hours and maybe never buy anything. theres no way i wont be going back. at least a bunch more times. Even my son loved it and hes seven years old and was foreign to the idea of an antique mall till that trip. Now hes inlove and he got a sock monkey out of it. read more

Massive. Diverse. Curated. In all the times I have drive by 495 I never once knew a place this huge and this unique lived here. Canal Street is the authentic, original, unassuming version of all that rustic, hipster knock off furniture made of pine and laminate that you're paying 2x as much for everywhere else. It's a compendium of a hundred different consignment shops, all custom built by local shops with something to say and something share, all under one roof. It's a collection of high end, fully restored wood furniture that you'd likely never see anywhere but sitting on your couch watching Antiques Roadshow with your eyes glazed on Tuesday night. I spent 2 hours here and covered both floors/wings of the main building, only to have an employee remind me there's an entire other building/wing with multiple floors in the mill next door. What? Logistically think of downstairs as the most eclectic barn store you've seen, upstairs as the higher end consignment and higher end restored furniture market. Plan to spend an afternoon here working through the endless aisles and rooms of items, then go somewhere you can close your eyes because your brain will be so full if the endlessness of what you just saw you'll need an ice pack and a back rub to come back to planet earth. read more

A really great, extensive, two-story indoor antique mall in a (somewhat) refurbished old-fashioned New England mill building. There aren't many reasons to visit Lawrence, Massachusetts, but this is one of them. (Lawrence of course could do a lot more to make its town safer, cleaner, and more inviting. It has miles of marvelous riverbank along the Merrimack, wasting away and locked off from the public. It would be fantastic if they saw the value in that riverfront.) read more

Old stuff for sale in a musky old mill building. Glassware, books, furniture, radios, clocks, mirrors, lamps, old stereo/HiFi equipment. A good portion of the things for sale here look like they were picked up from "free" piles in front of houses on trash day. In other words, there is a lot of junk. Yes, there are some good vintage finds here, but very few bargains. Some of the prices are outrageously high. It was not worth the drive to visit. read more

Not a bad antique mall. Dennis and I stopped in on a snowy Sunday morning to browse. Housed in an old mill, this mall has 50+ vendors. Furniture, art, dishes, home and garden, junk and all kinds of items from yesteryear. One can spend a good hour just going through. Also on the other end of the mill, the same owners have more (just furniture and art) all the way down the long hallway. Prices are fair to decent. I got a nice Italian pottery pitcher for $6. Parking is in a very narrow side lot next to the building along Canal street. read more

Went in with a friend who is looking for pieces to decorate a home. This place is great. You can spend hours looking into every crevice. So much stuff. Lots of diversity. Prices are great it is 18,000 sq. feet. Lots of old doors from old homes. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Lots of furniture. If you need a place to go for a fun day. Oh goodness is this place big! No joke. And there's another building that you can walk to too. Great collectibles, antiques at fair prices. They also carry rustic furniture that make use of re-using industrial products such as from wooden carts into coffee tables. Beautiful and rustic and if these were in NYC they would be 2 1/2 times more expensive. Love the creativities that people have turning old things into rustic functional items. Love it! It's a great place to spend a rainy day. Took me an entire 8 hrs to ho through the place. Although I look and touch everything. Not good for a reseller. Everything is priced at collectors market. I wanted to grab a beautiful Hagar vase, but the guy up front was too busy to call the booth owner to see if they would offer a discount. Very hot in the place. But it's so cool to hang out for a few hours. I was back in town debating if I should go back. Maybe next time. read more

This place is huge! And carries lots of antiques, furniture, decor, etc. There are multiple rooms and 2 floors of things spread out in an old factory building. Prices range from low to high for antiques. A great place to spend your afternoon looking through old and new-ish things. Canal Street Antique Mall is one of my favorite antique stores in the Greater Boston area. This location is huge, with one large room, a few small rooms, and now a second floor with more offerings (mainly furniture). I've found several great items throughout the years at reasonable prices, but the prices do range widely from booth to booth. While there is often a nice turnover in the items, I've noticed that some booths carry the same products for years (yes, years!). For example, there is a teacup I've been interested in for years now, and the price has remained the same. While the store employees will sometimes call dealers to negotiate a price for you, they will not do so on the weekends. If you go regularly, you will start to notice which booths get changed up and which just sit there untouched with the same price tags on the items. Probably my favorite thing about this store is the amount of merchandise that comes from the surrounding area. I once bought a Boston Celtics fan from the original Boston Garden, for instance. I even found one of my uncle's campaign buttons in a bin marked "local politics" in one booth! If you are from the area, or you are visiting hoping to find something cool to remember your trip, Canal Street is the place to go. One final tip I have is to follow the store on Facebook. They post photos of the merchandise daily so you can see what's new. They also share when they are having a sale or event. read more

I frequently visit and the inventory is always different. The prices tend to be very reasonable and the selection is quite diverse. I have picked up some very interesting pieces here. Mostly antiques with some collectibles. We go antiquing all the time and this place is one of the more interesting venues in the valley. Its near the train station so it would probably make a great 1/2 day trip from Boston, and just off 495 if traveling by car. Be sure to poke around the obscure corners, thats were some of the real interesting stuff can be found. The owners are nice and have answered many questions for me, including how to best repair broken vintage pieces. read more

Stopped in there on a weekend to see if they would be interested in buying some antique furniture that i need to sell (because moving from area). Employee or person in charge with big untrimmed mustache asked what I had to sell, and showed him pictures of what I had. He said they looked like they were very nice and asked me what I was asking. I said I was not sure, but seen some prices on craigslist and was willing to sell for less than half of that. His reply was " u don't want to hear my price" Then I asked, "well, what is your price/? and he repeated "u don't want to hear my price" and rudely walked away. I was standing there dumbfounded at his rudeness. That was my first and LAST visit to that antique place, and I am an avid antique fan and frequent many places. Earl S. read more

This place is the bomb! Who'd think in the freaking 'hood (I lived in Lawrence for 6 years trust me it's the 'hood) you'd find a great antiques mall? Set in an old mill building (because really they're everywhere in Lawrence) they have 2 floors of junk, awesome items, and high antiques all smooshed together in booths. Most booth owners will bargain (half the fun really guys) and I got a very expensive book from the late 1800s for such a cheap price I almost felt guilty... but totally didn't. Also found a great bamboo plant stand for exactly the right price, so it really has it all. Saturday afternoon/Sunday antiquing should always be this good! I have found my antique/consignment shop heaven. I can now die happy. Two HUGE floors of all sorts of crazy knick knacks, antiques, and creepy goodness!! Lots of old catholic paraphanelia (it's lawtown after all), old records, pictures, taxidermy, ouija boards, furniture, books, dolls, medicine bottles, jewelry, basically anything you can think of. There's a little corner of the store that even sells animal skulls, old funeral cards, etc. Very fair prices. The people who work there are very friendly and talkative, happy to open cases for you or help you out. Really comfortable atmosphere This place is so big & the prices so cheap I just keep going back every other week and see something new every time. read more

I have always liked this place, until today 5/3/15. The week prior I spent a large sum of money on a piece of furniture, I'm in there at least once a week giving this place business, well not anymore. They seem to have adopted a new policy of following customers around, I picked up a old tea kettle and wanted to purchase it, well I noticed a very fat blotchy gentleman hovering a round me, when he saw I was holding onto the kettle he approached me and said that would take the kettle from me and bring it to the check out. Well to me that is calling me a thief, I gave him the kettle and said well I guess I'm done shopping, I wasn't done but his actions forced me to be done. I kinda felt like a common criminal being watched and not trusted, it's a shame I've always supported this business. read more

Lots of hidden treasures and good prices by many vendors and excellent customer service by the people who work there. I got a nice hand carved wooden bowl for 50 bucks that I have seen elsewhere for 300 or more. This time of year is also great for Christmas decorations with character. read more

I like exploring these antique markets, which are more of a blend of thrift and antique. They have dozens of vendors who sell here, and there is new merchandise week to week. The staff there are very helpful and friendly. To the individual who felt as though he was being followed or accused to being a thief, it is standard protocol for many of these antique markets to bring your items to the counter for you, one reason, there are many vendors who sell their items at these markets and all too often a patron will change their mind about purchasing an item and just place it anywhere in the store instead of putting it back in it's proper place. This place is similar to the one in Cambridge with lots of random items and something for everyone. Sort like treasure hunting but no pressure at all. Last week they had some complimentary homemade soup in the lobby and it was amazing! read more

I love it here! I live in Los Angeles, but whenever I visit at home, i always make time to stop off here to see what's new. It's so large that the prices are mixed, but you'll ALWAYS find great deals and some really cool items. Also, you'll find many of the vendors having % off their booth sales.
