I pretty much agree with the middling reviews of this practice. The front office staff were pretty friendly, the hygienist was friendly, but the dentist was pretty meh. This was a new patient visit so I thought Dr. Connors would be in his most friendly mode, but he basically looked around, and referred me out to a perio (which I really didn't like...ROC Perio), and was pretty unengaging personally. I'm very good about getting a cleaning every 3 months (switching between perio and general), and when I tried to schedule a cleaning with East Ave Dentistry for six months away I was told there were no available appointments. So basically this practice which did nothing on the first visit except refer me out, was telling me that in six months there were no appointments available for them to attend to my dental health. This told me this practice was either understaffed or oversubscribed, either meant it wasn't a practice whose primary focus was to be sure they could meet their patients dental health needs. I very happily found Elmwood Dental which is able to see me every three months to provide cleanings, and keeps me in-house unless I need to see a specialist, and everyone there is so friendly it's a pleasure to see them. read more

My 1st few times having cleanings and routine work done went great. The staff is friendly the atmosphere Is relaxing & facility is clean. I recently decided to get Invisaline with encouragement from Dr. Aaron. I was very nervous and made that clear. He designed my plan and we vaguely reviewed it together and I was convinced it was a simple glitch free plan. At this point I was getting excited. Dr Aaron decoded to prep my teeth by filing spaces between a couple on the bottom where I needed most work along with my 2 front teeth . 2 weeks later having to live with spaces until my trays came in they finally arrived. I was DEVASTATED he put a huge bracket on my front tooth. It was awful. When I expressed I was unhappy he told me "it was in the plan, marked in red". Hello?! How would I know what a red dash on a tooth graph meant a huge bracket unless I was told? Needless to say we removed the top brackets and I am only having the bottom teeth corrected . Dr Aaron denies putting a space in my two front teeth. He said it wasn't documented in his notes and it didn't instruct him to do so in the plan. I am furious every time I leave east ave dentist I am in tears. I know 100% I didn't have a space before he started this process and I remember clear as day him filing my teeth because I was not happy about it. This situation is currently happening I am praying for A good ending but losing hope. Every check up visit get more and more awkward. I feel like the entire staff knows about my case also openly talks about it. I have had several conversations with Dr. Aaron about my concerns he is clearly frustrated. Im lead to believe he shares his frustrations openly based on the looks I get from his staff and the tone they take while speaking to me . I feel every uncomfortable and anxious while in his office. I wish I could say things started to look up however that is not the case. It has been about 4/5 months since the very beginning of this saga. Dr Aaron has done exactly what I was afraid he would, washed his hands free from his mistakes. Dr Aaron told me we would deal with my top teeth when we finished with my bottom considering they were already in the movement process. Dr Aaron promised that once I was satisfied with placement of my bottom teeth we could finish my top teeth moving them accordantly. Which made perfect sense I wasn't excited about prolonging my relationship as a patient at Dr. Aaron's practice but at this point I didn't have much choice. I just wanted what I paid $3000 for to be completed . Getting to the point Dr Aaron has decoded he is finished with my teeth. He went on and on complementing himself and saying how proud he was of his work . Not for nothing i don't care what he nor anyone else thinks. What is important is what I think of my teeth . Dr. Aaron did not ask me one time what I thought or if I was happy and continues to deny creating a space between my 2 front teeth. I never received the opportunity to make my follow up appointments we talked about in the beginning. Recently I received a letter from Dr. Aaron saying I was no longer welcome I be a patient because I was rude to his staff and a difficult patient . Since when is asking your doctor questions about a medical procedure considered difficult or excusing yourself to make a phone call in any situation rude? I agree with many other reviews about Dr Aaron . If you question his work he becomes very condensing, begins to speak with a "snooty" tone avoiding actually answering any question directly . Why ?? Remains a mystery possibly he doesn't feel he needs to explain himself or maybe he just doesn't know the actual answer . As of right now I am $3000 in the hole and my teeth look worse then when I started. My procedure wasn't finished and i am extremely unhappy with east ave density all together. Over a year has passed since the start of this huge disaster . I am now under going corrective cosmetic dentistry. I was refunded half of the money I initially spent. It was basically my part time job to keep on top of this case! I had to write several letters have a lawyer on stand by which was costly also go in front of a peer mediation group. The same group who early in the year awarded Dr Aaron . They 1st denied me any refund I appealed and In the end was refunded half. In the end I will be left with permanently damaged teeth and a HUGE dentist bill. Dr Aaron has contacted me thru yelp asking me to take down my review saying he has made changes and grown. I do not feel that it would be fair people deserve to know the history of a practice. If he is truthfully making changes and has grown. With time more good reviews will surface than bad. read more

I was told I had 3 cavities and needed fillings so I went and got a second opinion and was told there was no signs of decay. I was also pushed at every appointment to get Invisalign. I would not recommend this dentist office. I also have a co-worker who had a similar experience with this office. read more

A few years ago, I went to see Dr. Aaron Rosen for two teeth fillings. He told me he wanted to do them without anesthetic. He told me to tell him if it hurt or I got uncomfortable. The pain started shortly after he began. When I tried to indicate that I was in pain, he said he would be "done soon, princess". Since this experience, I have been terrified to go to the dentist. I went recently to a new dentist recently and spent the whole time in a near panic because I kept remembering this experience. I suspect that he didn't want to use anesthetic because I was paying out-of-pocket at the time. I had the ability to pay. The whole experience was so awful. read more

Let me start by saying that the people who work here are Super friendly and try as hard as they can to satisfy their customers. Their lab, billing and overall communication abilities have left me with a terrible taste in my mouth (no pun intended). When I was younger, I had braces which moved my teeth in a way that I have both incisors missing from my smile. My orthodontist fitted me with a flipper that had two false teeth and I was happy. After a consultation with East Ave, we realized I had a bad cavity and needed to have a tooth removed, creating a need for a new flipper with an additional tooth. It took the lab THREE tries to get the flipper to fit right, and each time they had to redo it, I was left without a retainer (about 3 business days for each attempt). I work with kids; having missing teeth or not smiling is a BIG distraction. They finally got it right, I go to pay and its $300 more than what they quoted me. Before they did Any work, I asked for a price. However, they thought I was getting a different kind of retainer for some reason (miscommunication between the dentist and front desk) and said it was covered by insurance. It wasn't. They worked with me to figure out a payment plan and all was well. Til about 4 months later when one of the teeth snapped off the retainer. I took it back and they said "wow, that's weird, I've never seen a break like that. It must have been faulty" they repair it in the chair and everyone's happy. When I went to leave, I asked the front desk if I owed anything and they said "nope, you're all set" Great. I have my retainer. I'm out. Til one month later, the Same tooth snaps off again! This time, they tell me the retainer cannot be fixed and I'm going to need a new one (and that they run about $500) I put up a fight that the original retainer I purchased from them was faulty and that I dont want to pay full price for the new one. The dentist pleaded my case and billing brought the price down to $180. I now have a new, metal reinforced, retainer that should be a better fit. I go to pay the agreed upon price, and wouldn't you know it, I have an outstanding balance. Turns out they charged me $64.06 for the day my retainer broke the first time. The TL;DR: Their lab is terrible. Poor communication within the company creates hidden fees for the customer. If you're just looking for a cleaning or routine dentistry they're great. read more

A nice, clean atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and very supportive. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to proximity with people and they were very aware of this. I did receive two fillings for the first time. They were patient and conscientious to my comfort. Going to the dentist is never easy and East Ave Dentistry made it a better experience. 4 Stars - because they were down one Dentist and mine had to keep getting up during my fillings to check on other patients. That prolonged the visit and made it a little more stressful, but I can understand why it needed to be done. read more

I've been here twice (once for a cleaning/consultation and another time for a filling) and I must say that both times have been positive experiences. The staff are very nice and friendly. The facility is clean and welcoming. The best thing is the single use bathroom which is stocked with mouth wash and one time use toothbrushes that have been pre-applied with toothpaste for those people who have a strong urge to floss or brush their teeth afterwards (like me). Conveniently located in Park and East Ave neighborhoods. A great practice and place for your dental needs. read more

As a graduate student at the UofR, I was looking for a dentist to take care of a small filling on a molar, and based on online reviews, decided EAD would be a good choice. Fast forward several months, and I was having quickly growing pain in the same molar. Arriving at a new dental practice in a new city (I had just moved), they were appalled at the quality of the work on the filling, just a round blob of material placed over the cavity site, no profiling or shaping of any kind. In addition, a small surface cavity should not have needed a filling going down and *into* the root/nerve of the tooth. Three treatments (including a root canal and crown) later, the tooth is finally under control, but the quality of the work by Dr. Aaron Rosen was labeled as 'horrendous' and 'unprofessional' by dentists I now trust. Combine the quality of the dental work along with a billing department who would rather send a collection notice instead of a friendly phone call when they mis-bill the wrong insurance company (the bill lasted longer than the filling), and it should be easy to see that East Avenue Dentistry, or at least Dr. Aaron, should be avoided at all costs. read more

I am in the process of finding a new dentist after this place.... I have called about 15 dentists and the first thing these dentistry's say is if they are in my network or not. East Ave does not work that way, as they will do work on you and then give you a bill that is so outlandish thennnnn say "you are not in the network for your insurance'' I made a payment agreement to pay this crazy bill and called to check on it when there was a problem with the first installment, I was told by staff that the agreement did not exist.....then days later a payment is made from my account without any notice. I call to figure out the confusion and was basically yelled at and cut off to speak. This place is clean and the Dr.s are nice but if you are looking for dentistry that cares about their patients and has morals this is not the place. read more

I've gone here for several years. The staff is extremely polite and friendly. Dr. Aaron has always been very kind and good to work with. I've had several fillings here and a cleaning every 6months for about 4 years. I also needed two wisdom teeth out about 4 years ago, Dr. Aaron said he could do one in the office but sent me to an oral surgeon for both because one was impacted and he thought it would be easier on me. I don't usually write reviews online, but I'm surprised that the negative reviews outweighed the positive ones... So I feel I had to level it out. The office is very clean and seems to run on-time. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've never been made to wait long there. They have early morning appointments too (7am) so its easy to get in and out before work. I once had to cancel a 7am appointment the morning of because I had a fever and bronchitis (I was so nervous about getting charged because I had missed two appointments in the past year-- and they made an exception not charging me on my second missed appointment about 6 months prior). I left a message for them around 5AM and Dr Aaron called me back himself at 6:45am and told me not to worry about the appointment, to stay home, and feel better--- The next day in my mail I had received a get well card from Dr Aaron and the staff. It was really thoughtful. While no place is perfect (who likes going to the dentist anyway?), I can tell you this is a very nice office and I've had a good experience here. read more

The office is always clean and quiet and the hygienists are sweet and professional. I can not say enough wonderful things about them. I honestly wish I had read the last review on Yelp before ever even calling this place for an appointment. Their version of "informed consent" when you are getting your wisdom teeth extracted is to get you into the chair, on the day of your procedure, then shoot numbing agents into your mouth first so you can't ask questions. That's when they tell you about all of the potential risks. I would think that the day you say yes, I want to do this should be the day they warn you of all of the risks and give you all of your options on how you can have it done. I don't think they should assume what you want and deny you all of the information you need to make that initial decision. But this is, apparently, policy here at East Ave. One of the risks of an extraction of the lower wisdom teeth is that their 2D scan can't tell them where your nerve actually is in relation to your tooth, so they may need to cut your tooth in half while they're in there, but they can't plan ahead. Instead, the dentists starts yanking your tooth out and if the nerve is in there, you will stop him yourself by screaming in pain. That's their test, but there's another one they won't tell you about. You could go get a 3D scan somewhere else. They also don't talk to you about the option of sedation. According to their website, Dr. Aaron Rosen is a specialist in sedation. He is a specialist in sedation, and he never talked to me about my sedation options. I repeated for emphasis, because it's that absurd. So, silly me, I assumed I was going to be sedated. I asked when I was going to be put out when I walked into the room on the day of the extraction. They told me I wasn't. They hadn't planned on that. If I wanted that, they needed to set up more equipment. And I needed to pay $200 up front. I hesitated, because that was a lot of money, but before he actually started the extraction I told him to stop, and agreed to pay him the $200. His response was that we had already come this far we should keep going. As in, his time is too precious to spend setting up the equipment to do the procedure the way I just explicitly asked him to. He proceeded to remove my top two wisdom teeth, while I heard and felt the entire process. Since he was apparently unaware or unmoved by my pain during that part (which he caused by not stopping and giving me the sedation like I explicitly asked him to) I obviously did not trust him to perform his yank-and-scream test on my lower teeth. I stopped him mid-procedure. I will never, ever go back here. read more

My experience with this office has been so horrific that I truly wish I could give a zero star rating. I have never written a review before for any reason, but if this saves someone from the nightmare of dealing with them, then it is well worth it. My first impression was great actually, I made an appointment for my twins to be seen by their new pediatric dentist last winter and their experience was fantastic. The receptionists were very welcoming, and to be honest I was so impressed that I decided to make an appointment for myself to have some basic work done. Well fast forward to said appointment. I had three fillings done in a rushed and careless manner. The Dentist was extremely careless and borderline rude. I didn't really feel comfortable the entire visit. I felt extremely uncomfortable a few weeks later when I received a $400 bill from them. I have dental insurance and provided all of this information prior to my first visit for my children. Apparently, their office didn't take my insurance completely (still not really sure about the technicalities of this). I was informed only after receiving this bill that I was solely responsible for this bill, since my insurance didn't cover it all. What?!? When I called the office to make the inquiry, the response was just very simply, "We're sorry, blah, blah, blah..." I asked why this information wasn't given to me prior to my visit, since they were well aware of my insurance provider to save me from having a bill like this, when I could have gone elsewhere and not had a bill at all. I was beyond frustrated! Since this was an unexpected bill, I began making monthly payments and have finally paid of this bill, which I should have never had in the first place. Needless to say, they certainly do not care about providing good customer service, on the contrary, as you can see from these reviews, you should avoid East Avenue Dentistry at all costs. There are so many better options out there where the Dentists make you feel comfortable, and they are up front and very clear about what the insurance does and does not cover, before they actually do the work! I tell everyone I know about the terrible experience I've had here, we will never go back. read more

I would just like to say i have been going to this place for years now, i have nothing but good to say about this place, along with my wife. DR HARRY IS THE BEST. He is very fast and very confident in his work.. HE has just about reworked all my teeth from fillings to crowns. I had one problem one time when my tongue got in the way of his drill,but that can happen to anyone. I feel DR Harry really cares about his patients. I am very sincere when i say that. NO I WAS NOT PAID TO SAY THIS. I like how they get you right in to take care of a problem that you have, no waiting for days..The staff is also very good. I have told many people to go to this place. I am visiting out of town from Columbus, Ohio. I work for a large company based in Rochester, so I am in town for 2 weeks time. Unbelievably enough, a wisdom tooth started to emerge on my second day here. The pain was so severe I knew I had to locate an dentist office and remove it. I spent the better part of an evening calling around the greater Rochester area searching for availability & an office that could work flexibly into my schedule. I started to feel that there wasn't going to be resolution to my issue until I spoke with a very sweet, accommodating receptionist at East Avenue Dentisty. She went above and beyond her duties- which is something, I've found, East Avenue Dentistry does religiously. She was able to get me in the very next day during lunch (12:30) and I was able to get a x-Ray, remove the wisdom tooth, get sutured up.( note: the procedure was PAIN FREE, and I was in a massage chair with Sinatra music to ease my mind!!) I only ended up missing my lunch at work and 30 minutes if training time- such a small price to continue pain free and happy in Rochester for the duration of my stay. I really do not know how to thank the dentist- and his office as a whole for working so hard. You can really tell they love what they do at East Avenue Dentistry, and I have already recommended them to several colleagues in the area. Thank you so much again for everything! read more
