There is poison ivy along the path, and many ticks, both of which are less than a foot off the paved path. I wouldn't recommend going here for a walk with a dog, I pulled 5 ticks off my dog in the first mile, and found more when I got home. Beautiful and scenic path, perfect for biking.

I'm updating my review of the East Bay Bike Path only because I am on it every single day to walk my dogs. I live right nearby so it's simply part of the daily routine. I will not take off any stars because it's still a great place to walk. I needed to make it clear that the path can be quite dangerous in some ways so let me explain: -Be very cautious when stopping at intersections. Do not bike or walk/run through without stopping. Cars may seem like they're slowing down, but be sure to wait until they've completely stopped. -Be very careful around bikes (especially if the rider is decked-out in crazy biking gear because they're usually the most dangerous). Most bikers are not going to move around you. I am not sure why this is a thing but it's extremely unsafe. I've had to jump out of the way of bikes multiple times, all while being yelled at. And I am ALWAYS on the correct side. -Speaking of correct sides, expect to get dirty looks from people that think you're walking/running or biking on the wrong side. This is especially common in the summer when people that don't frequent the trail are out. People have screamed at my husband and I saying that we're walking on the wrong side when we are not. Walkers and runners on the left, bikers on the right. Bikes are *supposed* to go around walkers and runners but be prepared to move out of their way and into the grass because they won't always move...even if you're pregnant and towing two cute pups with you (totally not personal hehehe). Overall, be safe. There's lots of activity and bikers and people walking on the wrong side and there are plenty of places you need to stop where there are cars. Follow the rules of the path and you'll--hopefully--be all good!

One of my favorite places to bike! The scenery is absolutely amazing! Some parts are so incredibly beautiful that I have to stop and just take it all in. I usually park at 1 of 4 places. I'm sure there's more. India Point Park has great parking. Also there are two lots on Veteran Memorial Parkway right after Teo Filo Bragaway. Both on the right. All 3 in Providence. If you don't want to do the entire path there's also a great lot called Police Cove Park in Barrington. There are walkers, joggers, rollerbladers and bikers. Very dog friendly. No motorized vehicles allowed. There are quite a few intersections you have to go through so you will have to stop here and there especially when you get into Barrington but I've had very little problems with cars stopping to let you go. There are plenty of crosswalk lights at a lot of them too. Once you get into Barrington there's plenty to do and see. Tons of restaurants with that amazing view of the water. I bet the sunsets are incredible although I've yet to see one as I have to bike back to Providence before dark. Is so worth the trip from MA for me. I love this place and if you love the outdoors it's a must see.

Looks who's on the bike path.:)

East bay bike path is a great way to spend time exercising wether your biking, rollerblading or walking . I can jump on the path not even a block where I live and go as far or as little I want. It's easy and a scenic route. There's so much to see. From beautiful houses taking shape as they are built or renovated . The marshes at the Audubon society or water view. Colt State park is right off the path. You totally could spend the day checking out the sites. You can stop for lunch or a ice cream whatever your preference may be. Get some friends together or the family and spend some time together . You won't be disappointed for sure!! You can jump on in so many spots and there is a very clean bathroom facility at the Bristol area. Parking and a clean bathroom ! Enjoy the ride!!!

I feel lucky to live close by to the East Bay Bike Path, a wonderful 14.5-mile paved multi-town bikeway. This path is the perfect space to walk, run, bike, rollerblade, skateboard, or participate in any other type of self-propelled transportation. The entirety of the path is relatively flat (except for a couple inclines/declines in the East Providence section). The path affords beautiful views of coastal Rhode Island from Providence, East Providence, Riverside, Barrington, Warren, and Bristol. The path leisurely winds through, around, and over a number of waterways, bridges, archways, architecture, marshes, and a plethora of wildlife (I saw 2 snakes cross in front of me during my last trip!). You can easily ride farther than you think you've gone by simply getting caught up in the scenery. The path used to connect quite easily from India Point Park in Providence but the Washington Bridge connection has been under construction for some time. When its done it will be called the George Redman Linear Park but for now, bike traffic is diverted to the Henderson Bridge, adding some length to the trip. According to the RI DOT website, there is some planned resurfacing of the bike path this year. On my most recent bike ride, there were some bumpy areas but nothing too drastic to detract from my tour. This path is by far, one of my favorite places to enjoy the outdoors. It is quiet, peaceful, full of life, and a pleasure to traverse. You can utilize all or part of it, check out different sights, smells, and tastes along the way (Dari-Bee in Riverside is a nice side-visit for some ice cream in the warmer weather!). It is what you make of it. It is wonderfully kept up and I look forward to a whole summer of hitting the pavement. Highly recommended space for people of all ages!

Hot day on the bike path!

A well maintained bike path connecting Providence and Bristol, RI that hugs the shore as you travel through some beautiful scenery including a bird sanctuary. There are several car crossings at which you need to be prepared for an occasional car not stopping but otherwise a very safe place to bike or walk!

Awesome! Parked in Providence on the street in front of India Point Park. We rode under a tunnel to get to the other side of the bike path which helped us avoid street traffic. The path is well kept and there are historical points along the way. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY! Check out the pics. We felt safe on the path even driving through the streets of EP when it broke off. We rode on a Sunday night in the beginning of summer. There was a lot of ppl out using it. The path is narrow compared to the old path I used to ride on in MA, but just be alert and you will be fine!

The best in the state A great bike path that winds over 14 miles through Bristol Country. It's paved the entire distance so it is suitable for road bikes, skates and walkers. Pretty flat terrain with only a couple of small hills to the north although is does have some pretty good ruts and bumps. The scenery varies throughout the trip. Going south you start with Narragansett Bay, then woods and parks in Barrington, through the center of Warren and then back by Narragansett Bay again and into the center of Bristol. A nice part about the trail is that it goes by several stores that sell food, drinks or ice cream. Even a bike shop if you need repairs. The only negative is that the path gets very crowded in the summer so you have to pay attention to what you're doing. In places you have to slow to a crawl because of different types of traffic. Road bikes, people with strollers and in line skates might all be converging in the same place, There are also some road crossings that you have to stop at. It's more suiable for the causal rider looking for a pleasant ride than someone wanting to go warp 9. Still it's easily one of the best paved paths anywhere.

What a gem! I'm lucky enough that I only live about three miles from it and can make it part of my daily routine. I've both biked and walked the path, but walking is the norm for me. This 15 mile path has a little bit of everything - town centers, residential neighborhoods, parks, wooded areas, bridges, marshland, and expansive views of Narragansett Bay. There is plenty of parking at different spots along the path as well as numerous places not far off the path for a quick drink or snack. There is a spotless restroom facility at the Bristol end. I normally walk through the Barrington, Warren and Bristol portion and I recommend talking a detour onto the Audubon boardwalk in Bristol, heading towards the water. It's well worth it. Bikes aren't allowed, but there is a bike rack on the other side of the path. Not far away is the Jacob's Point path which will take you right out to Narragansett Bay. There are a few cons - The smell of the East Providence wastewater treatment facility can get a bit overpowering at times. Depending on the time of day and year, there will be mosquitoes through the marshy areas. Bikers that will ride two and three across and take up the whole path while refusing to move over. There are a few very secluded, wooded areas , particularly in Barrington, that I don't feel comfortable walking through when the bike path is deserted and I'm walking alone. Can get VERY crowded on a beautiful weekend day. None of those cons are enough for me to stay away or to knock off any stars. This really is a jewel of Rhode Island.

Rhode Island has a truly wonderful and expanding series of bike paths. These photos are from the East Bay Bike Path, more specifically the section between Barrington and Bristol RI. Hoping on at the Shaws market in Barrington, then looping to Bristol and back, rewards one with wonderfully scenic 13 mile trip that's as flat as Nebraska, and beautiful as only the New England coast can be. A splendid way to return to the enjoyment of cycling and the New England outdoors!

You can access the park via a dirt road, just off of West Street, next to the YMCA. Park at the YMCA or drive down the dirt road a bit to park inside. It is an easy jump skip from the East Bay Bike Path as well for those using a bipedal method of transportation. The trails are not extensive, only about 2.5 miles in total if you traverse all of the loops, but the views of Brickyard Pond are worth it. The 84-acre body of water sits on 230 acres of land, named for its history as a site of the brick-making industry in the area up until the 1940's. Due to hazardous structures in the water, swimming is not allowed. Fishing is allowed only certain times of the year since the pond is home to some herring spawning grounds. There is a boat launch as well as several points of access to the water for kayaking. Two trails, the Red and Green, make their way along the shore of the pond and into the forested acreage of the park. Summersweet plants flower everywhere along the trails, filling the air with their pleasant aroma. For the most part I stayed on trail but there were a number of unmarked routes leading who-knows-where. I explored some of these but didn't stray too far. The trails were well-marked with their colored blazes and arrow signs but with so many trails breaking off from the main loops, it was easy to get turned around. Well-kept, there were several bridges and walkways built into the path to skip over lazy moving streams and marshy areas. From their maps, it appears that several more trails looping around the pond are in the works, connecting the park to the bike patch directly. It will be wonderful once development is complete. Near the boat launch is a peaceful clearing with tables and park benches. A great place for a picnic or to simply kick back and soak up the outdoors. A nice find in downtown Barrington. As a side note: there was a surprising amount of litter in the parking lot inside the grounds... the trails were clean but some of the areas with grills and benches were visited by litter bugs and party animals. Trash, broken glass... dropped it down to 4-stars for me despite my enjoyable experience in the rest of the park.
