If only the water were bluer. The east coast could be the most desired place on earth lol. Clean beach, you will pay for it. Totally worth it. Nice people here. There is a lifeguard. Rocky areas. I personally like the rocky beaches. They are usually rich with sea life. Had a great Friday here and planning to come back. The kids lived it. I lived it. If only water would be bluer....

Not bad for a public beach close to Providence. No food or changing rooms on site. There is a $100charge for parking unless your a Barrington resident. Nice views of the bay and a Long Beach walk.

First time here and it won't b the last! Super clean quiet very private mostly locals.... they got bathrooms and shower! Parking was only 10$ super quiet and they have a doggie beach also!

    Garbage on the beach

Compared to other beaches in RI, this beach was disappointing. There was a lot of seaweed and the beach was not clean. On the plus side, the view is breathtaking.

Still love it here... and now Trendy's has a spot on the beach serving food and ice cream! Parking is never a problem and it is very clean. Have no issues at all having my son swim in the water. It is clean and clear. For $30 a season, can't beat it!

A lovely view on a warm October day

Barrington Beach is a nice spot to get away suring the non summer minths. I say this because unless you are a Barrington resident and have a pass, you aren't getting anywhere close to this pleasant sandy strip of shore. If it's not prime beach season, this is a great place to go and relax or enjoy a nice walk. The parking lot is somewhat new. It's pretty small, so not too many cars can park. There is a newer Pavillion I just noticed the other day. I've never used it. The beach itself is a mix of sand, shells and rocks. Swimming and beach combing are both quite enjoyable here. There are lifeguards in the summer. I believe it's carry in carry out for trash. Have fun!

    So pretty for the sunset

It's a beautiful space with plenty of benches and picnic tables. There are playscapes and climbing structures; there are no swings. There is a gazebo and plenty of places to eat nearby. Since we had some time to kill, we decided to take a walk along the beach and see what it had to offer. The first thing I'll say is that this isn't the place to visit if you're looking for that classic Rhode Island beach experience. If you've spent any time at the beaches in South County, whether it's Misquamicut, East Matunuck, Charlestown, or one of the quieter stretches of shoreline, it's hard not to compare the two. Oakland Beach just doesn't have the same wide-open feel, rolling surf, clean sand, or salt air that makes those beaches worth the drive. It's a bay beach, and it feels like one. That said, it isn't without its positives. The views across Greenwich Bay are pleasant, there were plenty of families out enjoying the afternoon, and it's an easy place to take a casual stroll. The boardwalk area and nearby restaurants give it more of a neighborhood gathering spot than a true beach destination. You can grab an ice cream, watch the boats, and spend an hour or two relaxing without much effort. The beach also has restrooms, parking, and easy access, so it's convenient if you're already in the area. What kept this from being a higher rating for me was the beach itself. The water looked murky compared to what I'm used to, the sand wasn't particularly inviting, and the whole area felt a little worn around the edges. It wasn't dirty enough to make me want to leave, but it also wasn't somewhere that made me think, "I can't wait to come back and spend the day here." I found myself appreciating the scenery more than the actual beach. Overall, Oakland Beach is perfectly fine for a quick walk before dinner or if you live nearby and want to enjoy the waterfront for a little while. I just wouldn't go out of my way to make it a beach day destination. For me, South County will always be where I head when I want to spend time at the ocean. Oakland Beach serves its purpose, but it never quite escapes the feeling that it's a pleasant neighborhood waterfront rather than one of Rhode Island's great beaches.

You can still see the remnants of some of the rides, and there are informative signs throughout displaying the history of the property. I love the walking paths here, and I especially love poking around the shoreline at all of the little beach areas (some which are only accessible at low tide) and looking for shells and seaglass. Several of the walking paths are paved and are wheel chair accessible, and others a just a little more rugged with some climbing over rocks to get down to the shoreline. I also love the large fishing pier and this weekend my daughter and I relaxed on one of the benches out at the end of the pier and just enjoyed the sunshine. Rocky Point is an awesome place to spend time outdoors.
