They are all fenced off as to not interfere with the soccer field and the surrounding areas look well cared for. Directly around the tennis courts looked to be large amounts of weed killer sprayed. Not that it is good or bad - just something to be aware of. Don't want to let your little dog run around in that.

Whoohoo!! As the…read moreweather is warming up, We are trying to explore the lovely city of Hayward more. So I had this place bookmarked for months, and finally took a trip out there one night. I wasn't sure if it would be open , or if there would be lights for night tennis, but it was and lights too! YAY the fitness gods must be looking down in my favor :) There are 4-5 courts and there was one open for us! We played for about an hour from 8:30-9:30. The courts are in pretty good shape and we parked at the park next to the courts. The park ranger came around 9:30 to tell us we need to move our car since the park closes at 9. I am not too sure what time the courts close , and there are no times posted Note: Park in the residential area next to the courts for a closer walk.

There is also a hitting wall, so you can practice while waiting for your partner. We noticed and heard mostly a Tagalog-English speaking crowd of men playing social singles and doubles. In fact, except for us - visiting out of towners - seems like everyone there knew each other. If you live in the area and need to play, I'm sure they'd be more than willing let you join in if you're an average player. I doubt they'd be too excited playing with a novice or advanced player. When I say social tennis, winning isn't the top prioirty. It's having a good time while playing with friends. There will be plenty of commentary about the weather, politics, people, and some kidding trash talking about you personally and your tennis skills. My brother was getting ready to play a tournament (not here) so we practiced hard. We were fairly quiet except for occasional motivational words uttered like, "Ah he!!, d@m_ it, etc. The courts around us, we heard trash talk from these mostly old men like: "Ay nako, pangit ang service mo" which means "Oh man, what an ugly serve!" Of course, they let out a big laugh especially if the trash talker makes a mistake. "Mahina ang forehand mo, parang babae!" which means, "Your forehand is weak, dude, like a girl.." Of course, they know that girls like Serena Williams has a harder forehand than any of them! Some days, the courts are just super crowded, especially Saturday and Sunday mornings before noon. For some reason, at the sun's apex, a lot of them go back home and drink beer while watching Manny Pacquiao re-runs. It gets busy other times, too but those early morning hours it's nuts. For free, though, these courts are hard to beat.

I joined to improve quickly and enter my highschool's (Bellarmine College Preparatory) varsity tennis team. Both of my brothers had already entered the team after practicing daily at Norcal. I finally had entered the team with my brothers thanks to Norcal. Bellarmine's tennis team is known for its talented players who consistently win WCAL and the competition to enter the varsity team is extremely difficult. The team consists of many utr 10s, 9s, and 8s. I continue to play at Norcal as both of my brothers are in college. Thank you Norcal!

This is a community park in Newark. It has big trees and…read morevery shady . I enjoy the morning walk with breeze and sunshine. Many people are enjoying the morning sun ( strollers , wheelchair users, summer campers , basketball players , tennis players etc ) The walking trails are very smooth and pretty landscapes to circle around the park. There are two playgrounds for toddlers and older kids . A dog parks with fence and some dogs slides for fun . A few big dogs are walking around and rest on the lawn . I am lucky enough to capture the hummingbirds and two squirrels running up the tree . There are lots of picnic tables next to BBQ grilled . They have public restrooms. Lots of free parking on the tennis court area and the park entrance area . Everything is so beautiful and I enjoy my leisure walk very much .

Really nice park for children and dogs!…read more They have a good sized dog park with area for small dogs and big dogs. Some climbing structures for the dogs as well. Picnic tables scattered throughout the park, with lots of beautiful trees providing shade over most of the park. There are two adjacent playground areas. One side has a large caterpillar to climb on, along with a dinosaur teeter-totter and baby swings (only, no regular swings) The other side has another big playground structure, along with this rock formation that wraps around it. My kids mainly enjoyed climbing the rock formation that had little 'caves' that they played house in forever! Basketball courts, tennis courts as well. The only awful thing about this park is how absolutely vile the bathrooms smelled, like worse than most porta-potties.
