Brewery # 277 East Channel has 2 locations in Munising that are only a block away from each other. One is the indoor tap room for those winter months and the other is the larger more beer garden/tap room to hang outside during those warmer months. We stopped here on a weekday night and there were probably only 6-8 people here and we were the only ones sitting outside. We just ordered a few pints each as the selection is somewhat small. I just got 2 different IPA's, A Speedball Tucker and an Old Tru's. Both were solid. They had a food trailer outside but it was closed when we went. I did see a couple bring in a pizza from across the street so I assume they are cool with outside food. Seems like a solid place to hang and have a beer for the locals. read more

We stopped in Munising to check out Pictured Rocks and stop at a few breweries in town. East Channel was close by so we stopped in for a beer before heading to our next stop. East Channel is a small brewery, the decor is rather cute and they had a decent selections of beers to choose from. The brewery was pretty busy for Wednesday. We found a spot at the bar, which is very limited seating and decided on our selections. By this point, I was interested in something different and opted for the blueberry seltzer and it was fantastic. He enjoyed his IPA and we spent some time talking to the beertender and some locals who were seated close to us. It really doesn't matter where we go, we always find some interesting people to chat with. The locals told us about some fun places to visit while we were in the UP. We truly appreciate people sharing their experiences and passing that along to others. You can only read so much and do your own research....it's the locals who truly know the best of the best! If you happen to be in the Munising area, this is a great little spot to visit. read more

We just left there. Walked in with our dogs, because they said it was dog friendly. Lady that worked there told us with an attitude that it was only dog friendly at the far end of the patio. So we left and went to By George brewing, which we have been to before east channel, and who are dog friendly all over their patio, and super friendly. read more

Great beer. I had the blonde ale and my wife had the porter. The place is just a hole in the wall, but very comfy and casual. If you are driving by and blink you will miss it. We were very impressed with the beers East Channel is putting out. The IPA was delicious, and for me not liking seltzer too much their blueberry seltzer was very good. My husband had the the stout and he raved about it. Cute gear too- I even bought a beanie. The bartender was super personable and made it a fun night for us. This place is literally a hole in the wall, so much so that we walked right past it the first time, but it's easily now one of my favorite places in Munising. It's beer and peanuts only, but that's all it needs to be (and you can bring in your own food) and they brew in very small batches, it's not only so incredibly good but you have to get it before it's gone. The beers we tried were so full of flavor and body, but nothing overwhelming or like they were trying too hard. My husband and I ended up falling in love with the red ale they had on tap, so much so that we ended up taking home more than we should have (they actually can it on the spot for you!). Munising is so lucky to have this gem tucked away and I have no doubt that they'll continue to thrive if they keep doing what they're doing. read more

On Sunday this is the only brewpub in town in Munising. It is a small tap room with a bar that seats maybe 10 (stools with no backs) one table and a couple of benches. The upstairs is narrow with 4 tables and benches along the walls. It is very cozy. I had the IPA which was very good. I believe it was called something like Speedball Tucker. We visited East Channel several times in early August, 2017. It is a pleasant place with pleasant people. Their beers are good, with a nice variety (nothing remarkable, just good). If you need a snack, their roasted peanuts in the shell meet the need. Otherwise you can bring in your own pizza or whatever. There was one negative: If you want to bring some cans of their beer home, they fill the cans right there at the bar for you, and put the lids on with a special machine. They want $15 for a 4 pack of 16oz cans. That price is a rip off to begin with. Worse, all four of my cans leaked from the top and by the time I opened them a day later they were completely flat. This must be a common problem since while we were there someone brought their cans back in to complain about the leaking. Don't waste fifteen bucks on a leaky four pack. Just enjoy your beer at the bar. read more

Great Beer! And Great Hospitality. We were here with a group of 7 visiting for the Michigan Ice Fest. Due to M28 being closed for 30hrs we ended up being stranded from our rental home in Christmas. Met some awesome people who worked here who then helped our group of 7 find places to stay for the night. To make this even better, they took the time to track down a family member who lived near where our rental home was, that person was able to check on our dog and feed him since we were not allowed to get back to our house. Cannot say enough great things about the people of this town and the hospitably of this Brewery. I will forever be grateful and this will continue to be a stop anytime I am in the area. read more

We came in yesterday to check out their beer selection. I had a tart cherry IPA which was awesome. The staff was knowledgeable about the beer selection. They extra have seating upstairs with board games. They also have peanuts but no other food. Overall, I would come back again to try more of their selections. read more
