After Home Depot completely screwed up our order and delivery we went to East Coast Appliance for help. They were able to find the right microwave and immediately add it to the Saturday delivery schedule despite being only 2 days from purchase. Nick the delivery person was on time, super efficient and helpful and knocked the install out of the park. It was critical as we were listing the house on the market the following Wednesday. There was zero pressure from the sales staff, and I was able to look through the range of options completely un-harrassed. When I did have questions, Chris G. was right there to provide thorough answers. The washer I chose was not in stock, but they were able to receive it quickly, and I was contacted for delivery as soon as possible. The delivery team was amazing, and took better care of moving the old washer out and new washer in than my husband would have. They ensured everything was correctly hooked up, and then started the washer to ensure no leaks were present. I could not have asked for a better experience. read more

I bought a washer and dryer from the Va Beach location. The washer started making a loud noise when operating about 6 months after buying it. They came out several times to try to fix it over 12 months then said I should call GE to fix it. GE came out twice, charging me $300 the first time saying it was no longer under warranty, and trying to charge me another $275 the second time (two days later). I bought a new washer while talking to the GE repairman. I won't be back to ECA or GE. read more

This review is in response to owner feedback from Rob N on a previous review (screenshot attached). The confusion in this case is not with the customer. It is with your employee Jamie. When we inquired as to what was wrong with the refrigerator in question, her response was that there was nothing wrong with it at all. It was just the last one you had so it was taken out of the box and put on the floor. This was a flat out lie from Jamie, as when we came back the next day to pay for it and noticed the drawer separators were missing, she advised that they had been given to another customer. So what your response says to me is that it it is your policy to mislead potential buyers. It is an absolute misrepresentation to say an item is "brand new out of the box" when it has been cannibalized for parts. Shame on her, and shame one you for defending it. In this case, she was a poor representative for your business, with an attitude so condescending that I will avoid your store completely and recommend everyone I know do the same. Honestly, having an employee with that attitude, its not wonder your rating is in the basement. It is not your "scratch and dent as is" policy that is frustrating. It is the misrepresentation and lying and snotty attitude that are frustrating. *Screenshot will not upload. It is amazing to me that a business owner cannot admit that his employee misrepresented the condition of an item. It is a really bad look, and I am sure part of the cause of all the bad reviews. You seem to be focused on day 2 when we learned of the missing parts, not day 1 when we were lied to about it. So dont come on here talking about how aware you are of the interactions. You are missing a whole day. So either you are ignorant to it, or your employee never told you about the day one lies she told us. Let me break it down like a fraction for you Rob. When we asked your employee what was wrong with the item in question, the answer SHOULD have been "some parts were cannibalized for another unit". NOT "nothing wrong, its just the last one we have". Again I will say this as clearly as possible for you, as you seem to be having some comprehension issue. We do not have a problem with the scratch and dent open box policies of stores like yours. We have a problem with employees misrepresenting the condition of said items. I dont know who your manager was, but he or she never made an attempt to intervene in anything. Once again, we did not have an issue with the policy, we had an issue with the lies. If you support that, then Good For You. Zero stars. Horrible company. Shady business practice in regards to not disclosing issues up front. I am certain that had we not noticed, your snake oil rep would have sold us the item without ever mentioning the missing parts. Your inability to understand what the issue is here speaks volumes to either your intelligence or your integrity. This was an absolute bad experience for us. We were looking for a refrigerator. We found one at East Coast appliance on Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake. We talked to the people there yesterday and they told us that there was nothing wrong with that refrigerator. It was out of the box brand new. Went back the next day to pay cash for the refrigerator to find that it is missing some pieces two dividers for one of the drawers. We went to the counter and spoke to one of the employees, and she said that those dividers got taken out of that refrigerator and given to somebody else who purchased another model of that refrigerator because they didn't have them with the refrigerator they were buying. So with all this being said, you don't tell somebody that this is a brand new refrigerator out of the box with pieces that are missing. She told us to go and buy them elsewhere. Because she had to buy them for her refrigerator. That was unacceptable. They could've lowered the price a little more considering that all the parts should've been with a refrigerator in which they said was out of the box brand new. End of story. we were made to feel like pieces of crap in that store today. Instead of trying to work with the customer you smirk at the customer and make them feel like they're in the wrong. No we did nothing wrong. They could've lowered the prize they could've done anything possible. They could've ordered the pieces that were missing for us considering. Bought large washer 2 weeks ago as it was recommended for my king size sheets. I decided to wash my king size blanket and the agitator does not agitate my blanket. It just moves back and forth and does not even move my laundry around. A service tech came and said this is how the new models of washer works but he can clearly see that it's not agitating and I also showed him a video. Said to call the store to see what they can do. Called the store back and one person did not want to help me and said he does not know what to tell me because their service person already said they looked at it. I called back after talking to Samsung and they said to call the store back. Called the store back again and John said they can only exchange or swap only if Samsung gave them approval to. And it would take at least 6 weeks from Home office to approve as well. I paid for 3 year warranty for them to tell me I need an approval. So if I'm not satisfied with a product I am unable to return it? Finally called Samsung again and they are getting their Technician out here next week. This has been a bad experience. Of course they want to sell me their products which I paid over 2k for and when it comes to customer service they don't want to help you and tell you they don't know what else they can do for me. I purchased a washer /dryer combo from East Coast appliance in Newport, Aug 3, 2025, Scratch, and dent sale but to my knowledge it is a scratch and damage. And as of October 12. There is a crack in the drum in the dryer and the rubber is missing from around it. Which destroyed two of my blouse and they will not replace under their warranty. And as of today October 22 my appliances still down. My first Incident the washer machine didn't worked the day they delivered it, Aug, 6, 2025. I had to wait for them to get me a new sensor in the machine for the first Incident I contacted the district manager as well because I wanted my money back and he stated that they didn't do refunds. Bought our washer/dryer at East Coast 5 years ago. yes, they are wonderful. BUT when we purchased them we bought the extended warranty: 5 years, $300. The salesman (I won't name him) told us that if we didn't make any claims on the warranty we would get it refunded after 5 years. I wrote it down to be sure. The 5 years was up a few weeks ago, so I took my paperwork in, only to have the salesman say he'd never heard of that, and the manager wasn't in. So I went back later and met the manager: the brother of the guy we purchased from. He told me I would have to call the warranty company, file a claim, and if they agree, I would get HALF the amount in, get this, STORE CREDIT!! Wow, that STINKS! read more

Electrolux Washing Machine purchased a couple of years ago from East Coast Appliance won't dispense bleach or fabric softener. I called and said I would forward a photo of the sticker showing the model and serial number. Was told 'no' - a repairman needs to come out to do a 'diagnostic.' Scheduled this after paying $140 over the phone - repairman came in and took a picture of the sticker with the model and serial number and said, "I'll order the parts, and someone will call you to schedule the replacement of the capacitor." Second visit he installed the new capacitor - it didn't work. He put the old one back in and said he'd be back when a new capacitor was received. Rescheduled - he replaced the capacitor again and had the same result. Asked if he wanted me to put the original capacitor back in and of course I said 'yes.' Then he said he would ask the office to give me a refund. They refunded me for the subsequent visit, but not the $140 for the 'diagnostic.' I called and complained and eventually got 1/2 the diagnostic trip refunded. I took time off work for three days and had to pay $70 to NOT have my machine fixed. I will NEVER purchase anything from East Coast Appliance again. (The repairman was a nice guy - nothing against him. Except that he couldn't fix my machine.) I have an extended service contract on my refrigerator. That is a year and a half old. It has been broken for three days. The repair company was scheduled to come out three weeks ago Sears each time they would text me and tell me I had a window from one to five they never showed up,this happened 3 times the refrigerator was still working at the time but it died 2 days ago . They fail to mention a deadline for filing of 30 days at the end of a plan the customer purchased 5 years prior. It's a quite the sham because people get busy and don't meet the deadline at the end of 5 years. We paid for a Samsung Refrigerator, and when they called to schedule a delivery I was told the one we paid for was now OUT OF STOCK. How does that even happen? So we made an alternate choice and we also ordered a cooktop unit as well. Both were going into a rental property in OBX. Delivery was scheduled but I couldn't get an electrician to install it the day of delivery so it sat unopened for 11 days. When we opened it today to install it was CRACKED. When we tried to return it and get it replaced I was told it is policy that after 24 hours there was no returns even though it took 11 days to schedule the install and we had to wait for renters to leave. And the manager was on the rude side as well. Wrong Fridge and broken cooktop. My advice is to shop anyplace other than here, Integrity and customer service are not part of the East Coast Culture. read more

Drew was Great, We went into another store, looked around. We then priced the same exact models all the way down to the exact model numbers between Lowes and East Coast. This is a continuation of a posting from yesterday 1/11/2024 to try and clarify the matter. I was looking for a downdraft system to replace an existing system in my kitchen. The Best brand model seemed to meet the need. Similar in design as the old system we had, rises up from inside the counter when in use, goes back down out of sight when not needed. The blower is also under the cabinet connects down into an existing 8 inch duck work from the old system. So the blower needs comes straight out the back of the unit, elbows down 90 degrees and connects to existing duck work. What the saleperson ordered was a hugh inline blower using 12 inch duckwork and cannot fit in the cabinet. Would have to go somewhere like midway along the ductwork in the basement. My basement is finished so in order to try and use what he ordered, would mean ripping out the ceiling in the basement, replacing 8 inch with 12 inch duck work or using adapters, and running electrical power to the inline unit. No can do. Would have never agreed to what he ordered if I knew what he was ordering for us. I trusted him. We just needed the same or similar blower that goes in the cabinet directly next to and connecting the new riser unit. Just like the old unit did, then elbows down into the existing 8 inch duct work. But when it was discovered what he ordered was way wrong, the Fredericksburg store manager, Stacy, refused to take back the inline unit and refund my money $812.00 because she said the salesperson had me sign a "consult waiver. " Trickery. Beware of East Coast appliance. It's all about them and screw the customer. read more

**DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! HORRIBLE!!** I WISH I COULD GIZE ZERO STARS!! My husband and I just moved out here from San Diego and our stove went out. So we stop in and notice they had really good prices. So we ended up purchasing a range and hood to replace our down draft. We had someone come out and look at our hookup to make sure the setup was right so we could then schedule the install. THAT'S ABOUT ALL THAT WENT RIGHT! We called on a Monday to schedule install for Saturday. At 0800 on Saturday the install guy calls and he literally says "Um yeah I'm not going to make it today..." My husband asked why not and he replies (I sh*t you not!) "Well, I don't have a good excuse. The store that I thought was open today isn't and I don't have the part to do your install." Are you freaking serious?! You're a professional?! My husband calls the store and Ofcourse there's nothing they can do but they assure us "he's a really good guy". We now have to take time off work for an install. Now on to the hood: they didn't have it in stock so they ordered it for us. stove is installed and it's about 2 1/2 weeks from purchase and we call and ask about the hood. We're told it's supposed to be delivered Thursday and someone will call. NO CALL. We called the following week and they can't tell us why it didn't come but there's another shipment coming and they'll call... NO CALL! We call again and all of a sudden it's there but they have no idea when it got there (it's almost a month later). We schedule install and day of install we get a call saying he'll be here in 30 mins. Almost an HOUR AND A HALF later he shows up. Install process was done about 10pm. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY! read more

The sales guy acted like we interrupted him while he was playing on his phone. It was clearly a bother. Two weeks later, they're still leading us on and telling us it will be another week. They're rude over the phone, they tell you they will call you back and do not. I would not go there again nor would I recommend the store in Chesapeake. It was easy enough to purchase the appliance as the sales person and manager were knowledgeable about the products, but getting it delivered never happened. We ordered the appliance on the 10th of the month and was told it would take about 7 days, maybe sooner for them to receive it, then it would immediately get delivered to us and installed. I could wash dishes for a week, no problem. At least I got the exact model I wanted. On the seventh day, the 17th, I called to see if they had it and was told very directly that I was wrong about the time frame and that it would take 7 to 10 days, not seven days. They confirmed they would get it on the 23rd (13 days after the purchase). At that point I asked to at least have it put on their delivery/install calendar for the 24th, but they claimed they couldn't. They said their "policy" was to schedule it's delivery/install ONLY AFTER they had physically received it, so that would be another 3 days at best (26th was a Sat, which I figured really meant the following Monday the 28th). After talking to East Coast Appliance on the 17th I went to Best Buy that night, purchased the same model appliance (they had to order it too) and had it scheduled for delivery/install on the 22nd - 5 days total (I even paid a few dollars less). After leaving Best Buy I went to East Coast Appliance and asked for a refund. They knew they had made a mistake and processed my refund without any questions (though, it did take two tries to get the correct refund amount). Points for the refund without questions, but the entire process over there for ordering appliances and having them scheduled for delivery/install is really quite bad. They should try to UNDER promise/OVER deliver (not the other way around) and never insinuate that a customer is lying - that is just bad business altogether. read more

I bought an LG refrigerator from Matt Hanke in July 2022. The delivery guys dinged my door. I took the option to have a door replaced rather than denying the refrigerator. I was told that the door would take weeks to come. I recieved a message that my door was here and ready to make an installation appointment time t, however, the person was confused as to what door that needed to be installed. She than told me that they ordered the wrong door and that she would expedite the correct door. I got a call within a week to reschedule installation. When the techs arrived, they removed my refrigerator door. However, when they brought the other door to replace, it was the right part, but wrong color. Everytime I try to reach out to Matt Hanke, I never get a response. I'm extremely frustrated with the service and frankly just want another refrigerator! My time is being wasted. I will never purchase another appliance from east coast again. I should've just went to Home Depot. It's october2022 and im still sitting g in my house with a damaged $2400 refrigerator.
