Hi , my husband and I are in our 70s , my husband has suffered with anxiety for 30 years and now the medicines that conventional doctors gave him don't work any longer so he sunk back in major anxiety and very bad side effects from meds not working. I warn you all to stay away and be wary of this exploitative private practice where the staff is not trained to deal with neurodivergent people or senior citizens especially with disabilities, ranging from vision and hearing impairments. Their website doesn't match the poor, rude, and frustrating staff that we dealt with to just schedule an appointment, which parents couldn't have scheduled on their own independently. For example, they're still paper-based. This is incredibly unsafe because their staff collect and share medical and financial info without HIPAA-compliance via encrypted forms or emails. Who knows how they or whoever accidentally gets this sensitive info may abuse it? Plus, this makes it difficult for those who aren't tech-savvy to complete their new patient intake, which is only 15 minutes. When we heard that their missed visit fee was $250 from their staff (especially their insensitive practice manager), they were neither empathetic nor accommodating in responding to our clarifying questions. When I checked that they only charge $50 for missed appointment fees, I was still alarmed because their patients likely struggle with issues, ranging from executive function to emotional regulation, and yet they show no compassion for resolving misunderstandings with neurodivergent patients and caregivers except to exploit their deficits by coercing them to pay for what they signed under false pretenses. No breakdown of costs including missed appointment cancellation fees were provided to answer our request. Plus, their staff conflicted with their messaging whereby their practice manager claims that they require cancellations within 24 hours to replace the vacancy with another patient while the other receptionist stated that it's impractical to find another patient on short notice. Since they don't seem to have social media, a system for communicating with patients efficiently except by phone and email, or even a telemedicine-equipped service to reduce costs during and after the pandemic, maybe that's why they';re so desparate to nickel and dime a disabled, neurodivergent senior citizen for missing a new patient intake after suffering from a stroke, recovering from a flight with vertigo, and other complications. Clearly, their staff have no business sense to invest in patient-centric customer care and I have no doubt this business will eventually close given their inability to treat the neurodiverse community with respect according to the American Disabilities Act and other regulations. Had they accommodated a courtesy waiver or televisit intake, they could've gain a family of patients and referrals at the expense of damaging the hard-earned reputation of Dr. Alan Steinberg, MD, who "served as a psychiatric consultant to Suffolk County Adult Protective Services and the Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Task Force for Suffolk County." What would happen if their patients learned this is how their staff, including medical director, who is only a nurse, mistreats other prospective patients? Plus, he'd rather trust his staff than listen to the patient and caregiver for a balanced, holistic perspective to make any billing decision. Would you want a clinician claiming to be a doctor making one-sided decisions without listening to your account of events for a fair chance at reconciling misunderstandings? Worse yet, who is making medical decisions & prescribing drugs when there seems to be no certified doctor (except an emeritus retiree, who let's a nurse take over his practice)? Knowledge Is Power: Dementia Our family cannot thank Medical Director Eric Spronz, RN, PMHNP-BC, at East End Neuropsych and his fabulous team enough for everything they are doing to help our Mom and us as a family navigate through Dementia. It has truly been a challenging year of non stop doctor appointments, tests, procedures, and medications without Answers or PROGRESS. We were tired of hearing her Neurologist say that all test results were normal or within limits, she has Unspecified Mild Dementia, and just give her Aricept/Donepezil 5 mg because she won't get back to where she was but if we don't give her anything she could get worse. Then Mom was experiencing Anxiety, Irritability, and an extreme lack of desire to eat, and her weight loss was alarming. Again we reached out to her Neurologist who simply increased the Aricept to 10 mg and told us to go see a Psychiatrist for her anxiety. His office handed us two sheets of paper with a long list of names under Neuropsychologist and Psychiatrist. After an extremely overwhelming few weeks of phone calls and inquiries we were frustrated with finding out the cost of testing, who did not accept Medicare or Insurance, and how many more months we would be delayed waiting for an appointment. In continued effort, we reached out to EmblemHealth, Mom's secondary insurance carrier to see if they had any direction. After many phone calls from their obviously outdated information many were already retired or no longer providing that service. On our last inquiry we googled the address associated with that Emblem Health doctor and found East End Neuropsych listed with that address. We contacted them after leaving a message on the doctor's direct line. To no surprise the sweet voice on the other end said, "No, he does not work here any longer, BUT WE CAN HELP YOU". It was truly a MIRACLE of how we stumbled across East End Neuropsych. They accepted Medicare, we had an appointment within two weeks and we finally had HOPE. Within two hours we had a diagnosis of Vascular Dementia and a direction after Eric Spronz's full evaluation of our Mom. We also learned that the medication Aricept/Donepezil that Mom was previously prescribed could cause Irritability in Dementia patients. We were introduced to a whole new world of CARE for our entire family, from evaluation, treatment, counseling and caregiver services. At our appointment with Chana Topek-Diamond, LCSW, CLC, the Family and Individual Therapist also within the same building at East End Neuropsych, we were given the invaluable introduction to programs and services provided "FREE" of charge through the ADRC Alzheimer's Disease Resource Center. We have been enjoying Music Therapy and Memory Cafes with live music, and socialization. Eric Spronz is an amazing professional. I have been under his extraordinary care for over five years. Prior to finding Eric I had been to see many different psychiatrists those psychiatrists made me feel empty, I was just a number to them. The minute I walked into Eric's office. I felt a sense of peace and I felt valued. I had finally found the Home, where I felt free and supported to start and continue my healing journey. As Eric's patient I never feel rushed, all my questions are always answered and he he listens with a compassionate ear. He believes that each person has unique needs , with that in mind Eric develops treatment plans to meet each patients'needs . He will do everything possible to help your best life. I am truly blessed to have Eric in my life. My challenges almost swallowed me. Eric has been with me with me every step of my journey. I brought my mom to see Eric Spronz for an evaluation for her memory loss. Eric took the time to sit with my mom and myself to explain what was going on with my mom and what options were available for treatment. Eric is compassionate and took the time to get know my mom and make us feel comfortable during the appointment without rushing us. My mom has had several appointments at East End Neuropsych with the other provider Nicole Byrne who was just as understanding and compassionate and takes the time in every appointment to ensure my mom and myself know what the plan is. read more

I have found Dr. Spronze to be the most thorough, considerate and caring physicians I have ever had the good fortune to meet and be treated by. I have been going to him for eight years and have had other family members. See him also. I can't say enough about him, he has always made himself available. The office manager Kris who I was told during our conversation "runs the practice" is completely unprofessional in her dealings with the patients and their families. I have never been spoken to with such disrespect in regards to myself or a family members health, safety and wellbeing. She was rude, argumentative and accusatory without knowing the full story and details of my fathers care. I was unable to get a word in during her one sided rant of a conversation. Arrangements that were made with the medical directors approval were completely disregarded. She herself dropped my elderly mentally unstable father as a patient on the spot without reasonable notice. He was actively receiving care and was being prescribed medication at the office. I was never afforded the opportunity to speak with his providing nurse practitioner who we were building a report with and was trying to help my father. I was told to get a medical release for his records and was then hung up on. I am still floored by what transpired at what is supposed to be a well respected practice. Shame on you Kris for adding undo stress to an already incredibly difficult situation of dealing with a rapidly declining, aging parent. Shame on the rest of the staff for handling the situation in such a poor manner as well. read more

Eric took the time to do a very through assessment of my father last month. During the intake it was evident that he reviewed the case in advanced and obtained relevant information, he did his homework. He was spot on. Eric was warm and compassionate but frank and direct with us. He explained the diagnosis with dad present but not in a way that made him feel like a mental defect, he had my Dad shaking his head in agreement at some points. Took a long time to get the appointment and he was running a little behind, his staff called in advance to let us know but we were already in the parking lot. We spent time with the two office therapy dogs and the staff offered water and coffee and kept apologizing for the wait. After spending nearly two hours with Eric, I can see why he was running late. He never cut us off, let my father speak with dignity even when what he was saying was not logical. Eric made the diagnosis very clear and set a treatment plan that we are all able to agree on. We stayed past office hours and at no point did anyone try to rush us out. His office set me up with another provider in the office as Eric explained he is only doing evaluations and his long term patients. We were initially a little upset when we when to check out and see the appointment was not with him but we decided to give it a try. The female NP that he had us see in the office was just as kind and compassionate the other day when we met with her. I feel terrible I can't recall her name and I am not the patient. She reviewed some of the testing that Eric ordered in a way that we could all understand and offered to provide paper copies for our records. We have an appointment with the family therapist/ educator next week and we are looking forward to that. So far the meds that Eric started us on have been a god send and have Dad so much calmer and happier. We know that there is no cure for his diagnosis but we are happy knowing he is calm and content and not in distress. While my father is new to the practice I can say I highly recommend this team of professionals. read more

Eric Spronz is truly a gem in the huge sea of mental health care providers. He gave me my quality of life back and helped me to feel like my true self again. I am forever grateful to him and for his care. From the moment I walked into his office I felt at ease by the warm welcome from his staff and therapy dogs. I immediately connected with Eric and knew that I found the person who will finally be able to help me. Eric was prepared, having been well versed with my intake forms and medical history. He always listens intently and is never afraid to "think outside the box" in terms of treatment, as he has a curious and investigative mind. His diagnoses and treatments are spot on and his ability to connect with his patients and bring in personal touches such as calling patients to check in is above and beyond and goes a long way, especially when dealing with a person's mental health. Eric has the innate ability to make you feel cared about as if you are a member of his own family. From his etiquette, immense knowledge and care, Eric is a rarity in this field and I would encourage other mental health care providers to take a lesson out of his book. I had been seeing Eric Spronz since January for depression. Yes, I had been on anti depressants in the past with not as much success as I had hoped for. Eric tried a few new ones which, again, didn't help as much as I was hoping. He suggested Ketamine treatments and when I wouldn't to that he told me I had a personality disorder and medication wouldn't help me. He suggested I see the psychotherapist in his office, Hannah. When I told Hannah that I had lost 3 close loved ones in my life in a matter of 3 months she asked me why I thought that happened. I thought I misheard her, but no, she wanted to know why I thought that would happen to me. So I did not return to her. Finally, Eric told me there is no more his practice can do for me and I should move on. I understand all this, it's ok. But to summarize my whole experience, from the start ( even way before he told me to move on) I found Eric devoid of any personality or emotion. I couldn't find an ounce of compassion or caring. The office staff is as inefficient as they are nice. I'd prefer efficient. The wrong medicine was called in at one point and I'm glad I googled what they had me pick up because it could have been a disaster. I'm glad to see Lisa A. had a good experience and I hope others do as well. I did not. Oh and just be sure to ALWAYS check your prescriptions! Good luck. read more

Since the only MD there retired, the place is run by Nurse Practitioners that do not have the knowledge to treat their patients effectively. I have seen 3 NP's there over the years and all the good ones have left. The NP's there now do not know how to treat their patients. They overmedicate and have no sympathy or connection to their patients. When a medical professional says um... I dont Know.... Im thinking.... to a treatment plan it is a bit concerning. They treated my mom and she landed in the hospital several times with Dx. of being over medicated. I have found a new group and they are wonderful. read more
