From the moment I walked into the office, I immediately knew I was in the right place. The entire experience from start to finish was exceptional. Having someone so organized and attentive made the process completely stress-free. For my therapy, I worked with Alexia Santiago , an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), during my 25 treatment visits in 12 weeks. Alexia was absolutely outstanding. We have been to the Farmingdale office and had home care as well. Extra Kudos to Erica in the Farmingdale Office, Kaitlyn - OT in home,  Jarred PT in Farmingdale office, Michelle in GN office for their assistance, patience and caring. They have worked with us to help get medical insurance coverage and therapies. Also, they have a special air purifier and in place procedures for Covid to make us feel as safe as we can in this time. These days, often the professionalism and pride of doing a job well done has fallen much to the way side. But these people hold firm to doing a fine job and making every effort to be assisting. . I just left Fit to Function, a Physical/Occupational Therapy "Center"--where I was to have my…read morepost-surgical knee evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist. After handing the receptionist my referral/prescription form and my MRI results, and after filling out credit-card information etc.--I happened to ask for the name of the PT who would be seeing me. The receptionist told me the name of an OCCUPATIONAL therapist. When I said that I needed to be evaluated by a PHYSICAL therapist as per my appointment and paperwork, the receptionist told me that the PT had called in sick, so sorry, and was not there. I asked why she had not called me; she said "we just learned this." I asked why they did not simply tell me this before taking my reports and having me fill out paperwork--and why they were willing to have me evaluated by an unqualified therapist without even telling me (if I hadn't asked). She said "sorry" a few more times. Then an "assistant" came out to "assist"--same unprofessional explanations. So, what can I do now? If I had not asked, I would have been medically evaluated by someone not qualified to do so.

I discovered STM Physical Therapy from a blind referral from my doctor. I had no prior knowledge of…read moreSTM or it's staff. I sprained my ankle pretty badly on a trip outside the country in August 2021. Jehan (Gigi) and her staff were extremely helpful in bringing my ankle back to nearly full functioning. This was my first visit ever for physical therapy and I must say I learned a lot about what they do. The staff is very professional and caring in their approach to each patient. I noticed each patient received individual attention and many of the patients has serious issues like knee replacements or were recovering from strokes. This impressed me. I mentioned to Gigi that I was an avid hiker and she did a series of flexibility tests and noted I had a deficit in the that area. I completed a section hike of the Appalachian Trail through the Great Smokey Mountains (310 miles) just before the pandemic. You can be a strong hiker but overuse certain muscle groups to the detriment of overall flexibility. I learned a series of stretching exercises that have greatly improved by walking ability. The nice think about Physical Therapy is that you can take the "lessons learned" home with you and continue to practice your exercises. And don't forget to buy your leg stretching rope!
