She is also the only reason I was able to breastfeed for 8 months - she would take my calls and give tips (or call me down) and provide such potent reassurance. I could go on for days. Last thing - when I first found her info I was hesitant because we are not a churchy family - in hindsight I can't believe this gave me pause. She performed her work in such an incredible way - I know she has a lot of experience in spiritual child rearing, but was so unconditionally loving without pushing any message on any of us at any time (other that rah rah and you got this-type messages). I didn't know what having a doula would be like, but Stephanie helped me far more than I expected…read more She answered my questions and listened to my fears during the pregnancy, and stayed in close contact with me leading up to the birth. She helped me think through my birth plan, and I felt comfortable asking her even silly questions. During the birth, she was invaluable. I had originally thought that having my husband and mom there would be enough people--but it turns out that with pitocin-induced contractions, I absolutely needed three people helping me stay focused! She also visited after the birth to answer more of my questions and offer some general breastfeeding support, too. I had wanted an intervention-free birth, but it didn't work out that way. Despite being induced, with her help and support I was able to give birth without pain medication or an epidural. She kept me focused AND kept my mom and husband focused on helping me effectively. Having Stephanie there gave me the best of both worlds--I was under a doctor's care in the hospital, but I feel like I got a natural birth experience despite being induced.

I've always delivered naturally without any medications or medical interventions. If you plan to go this route I highly recommend investing in a doula. My labor and delivery went amazing with no complications. Kenzie worked with me through my contractions, massaging and giving words of encouragement. Anita helped move me in positions to help me progress faster. She uses this peanut ball, which I have a love/hate relationship with. We labored together at my house for about three hours. Then we went to the hospital. I arrived there at 8cm, Anita again put me on my side on the peanut ball. I went from an 8 to a 10 in 20 minutes. I pushed my 7lb daughter out in two pushes. I've delivered five children without medications, three of those I used doulas. They were the absolute best experiences I have ever had and am so blessed that someone like Anita and Kenzie have the skills and knowledge to help guide me during the wonderful birth of my daughter Gretchen!

We are so incredibly blessed to have found the Jubilee Birth Center along with Toni Kimpel and her student Riley. We just recently had our first daughter with them at the birth center Every single aspect of our experience from prenatal to postpartum care was better than we could have imagined! Toni and her team are so knowledgeable and nurturing; my husband and I felt very confident and peaceful every step along our journey with them. They helped prepare me so well for the natural medication-free birth that we wanted. The birth center itself is very nice and cozy, I love the homey feel to it-- much better than a "sterile" fluorescent lit hospital room in my opinion! Two beautiful rooms to choose from with comfy beds, ample space for laboring in different positions, and a full birthing tub in each! Also birthing balls, stools and bracing rope available to use. Honestly my husband and I feel like Toni and Riley are family after going through so much with them. We can't wait to be pregnant again so we can do it all over!

My daughter had a heartbreaking ordeal with this birthing center. It sounded like a great idea to…read morebirth naturally, but it turned into a nightmare for our young couple. Come to find out their ultimate goal is to defraud and this is how they do it. They push for prepayment in full for a (discount) and then they will send the unsuspecting mothers to the hospital for a low fetal heartbeat which was normal for the baby according to the hospital. But they know now that they have raised an alarm, (false as it was) that the expecting mother will just birth in the hospital. I don't fault the birthing center for erring on the side of caution, but what came next put everything in a clear perspective. A call was made to the mother, now in the hospital, asking to join her. For the additional amount of 1500$ they would come and hold her hand, as they are not licensed and have no malpractice insurance, therefore the hospital staff cannot legally let them practice onsite. Our Daughter declined the additional services and went ahead with the birth at the hospital she was sent to by the midwife. A few days later our daughter and the baby went to an aftercare appointment facilitated by the birthing center where she brought up the fact that on the birthing centers advice, she now had a full hospital bill for the birth. She inquired about a partial refund due to services not rendered, Birthing the baby, a very reasonable request. The cold response was that the birthing center would look into it. Two weeks passed and then the birthing center informed them no refund would be issued at all. SO BEWARE: No matter the response that I know they will write.. the bottom line is this. They ask for prepayment knowing that if they choose they can just send the client in for some made up reason and now they no longer have to fulfill their part of the contract, all while keeping the entire payment amount. Completely ignoring the fact that services that were prepaid, were not rendered!
