I've been coming to this gym on and off for decades. It has had many transformations over that time. Now this may not be the hippest or trendiest gym in NoHo, but one thing that has always stayed consistent is the welcoming smiles and kindness of the staff and members. Parking is available on both sides of the building, as well as street parking. It's very handicap accessible. The pool is kept at a constant warm temperature. The locker rooms are clean and have lockers available (bring your own lock). There are open showers and ones with curtains. I love the swimsuit spinner they have that wrings your suit out really well. The gym is small but has all the key equipment. They also have things like jump ropes, bands, balls, etc for use. Most of the cardio machines are linked to the tv's (bring your own headsets, earbuds) and plug in. The treadmills have their own tv's (I wish the recumbent bikes did). They have TRX, weight bag, and giant tires outside. They also offer a variety of group classes with helpful instructors with a variety of levels to fit any lifestyle. They also offer free child care for I believe an hour. The few times we used it was a little more stressful than it needed to be. Perhaps it would benefit a slightly older child. My grandson was just being overly sensitive and they came to get me during my workout. Which was fine. The lady was just a bit rude so I never brought them back. I would love to see a sauna... But space is limited, I get it. But one could dream.

These rust holes could cut little kids fingers. The rust was severe in the locker room. I put paper towels down to keep it off my clothes.

NEWS ALERT! You and your kids may be at risk for INFECTION or ILLNESS due to YMCA HEALTH VIOLATIONS, including UNSANITARY and UNSAFE conditions. I was a member of the East Valley YMCA in North Hollywood. I was infected with a horrible case of Athlete's Foot that cracked my skin open and made my toes bleed for months. When I got the condition, I was only showering there! I have changed memberships to BURBANK YMCA, which is a decent and clean facility. In sharp contrast to Metro YMCA (East Valley is one of many dirty facilities of Metro YMCA) I SUED the Metro YMCA this year and lost. Even though I could prove the violations of FUNGUS in the SHOWERS. It does not matter. I still lost. And got nothing. The Metro Y does not care about you or the quality of service you receive for your membership fees. The best way to prevent FOOT FUNGUS is to avoid the Metro YMCA altogether. And the VICE PRESIDENT of RISK MANAGEMENT of Metro Y, who showed up to defend the lawsuit LIED IN COURT. Anel Henry said the facilities have a regular cleaning schedule. I have posted a video clearly showing how clean the showers really were. COPY AND PASTE this into browser (Or follow link) https://youtu.be/-P3sefceo_s The Membership Services Director of Burbank YMCA called the conditions in this video "Unacceptable". The Facilities Manager rolled his eyes "like a Muppet" in disbelief. The showers and locker room at East Valley had not been washed or disinfected for months and were encrusted in FUNGUS, being black mold and mildew, as well as RUST in many LOCKERS. As a FIRST HAND WITNESS, I saw FIVE YEAR OLD CHILDREN being loaded into these sick and disgusting showers. DISCLAIMER: The Metro YMCA is trying to censor my pictures and reviews. That's why this information keeps popping in and out of the internet. To satisfy the YMCA and keep this review up I admit: Yes, I lost in court. This means I did not prove that I got athlete's foot at East Valley. The honest truth is that you can never prove athlete's foot unless you submit a Petri dish culture to a Bio Analysis Lab. Obviously, I cannot do that. You be your own judge. I was only showering here and the whole shower was covered in fungus. ------ WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT (Survival Guide for a Filthy YMCA) #1. PROTECT YOURSELF. Use rubber sandals, and spray bottles with bleach and rubbing alcohol. #2. DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY. Ask details of when they clean up. #3. REPORT TO HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Report anything and everything. #4. LEAVE. Go elsewhere like Burbank and Glendale YMCA or another company entirely. #5. POST. Post photos on YELP. #6. SUE. Yeah, I did not win, but suing the Metro YMCA is fun, easy, and inexpensive. I Sued! And I feel good about it. Filing takes only about 1-1/2 hours total plus transportation. I sued for free because I was low income. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEO. These are real and honest.

Only good thing about this gym is location. It needs updating very badly!!! The mats seem to be over 20 years old. They're dirty. The weight room floor is coming up. And I have tripped over it several times. No back machines and maybe 2 leg machines. A very dusty outside area. With the exception of a few front desk and healthy lifestyle people. Most everyone is lazy and non enthusiastic. Can't speak for aquatics people I've never made it past tge disgusting mens locker room. Smells of mold, dirty floors, lockers from the 70's, not a place you want to shower or undress. All the classes are for seniors Between 50-70 This place needs someone to put some TLC into it ASAP.

    Hello spider.

Nice place but am disappointed with the overall cleanliness. Tons of spiderwebs on walls and ceilings.

Their professionalism, energy, and dedication are truly the heart of this club. However, my recent experiences have caused me to reconsider continuing my membership. The removal of the cycling classes was disappointing, as they were an important and enjoyable part of my routine. Even more concerning was the decision to store the cycling bikes in the dance studio used for Zumba and Body Pump. This has significantly reduced the available space, creating a cramped environment and noticeably increasing the room temperature. This would be challenging under any circumstances, but it is especially problematic given the lack of a functional air conditioning system. Members have raised this concern with local staff repeatedly over several months, yet the issue remains unresolved. It is frustrating to see resources allocated toward dismantling the basketball courts while such a critical comfort and safety issue continues to be overlooked. Additionally, the new parking system has added another layer of inconvenience to the overall experience. After more than a decade of loyalty, it is disheartening to feel that the quality of the club has declined so substantially. I sincerely hope to see meaningful and timely improvements, as I would prefer to remain a member, but without change, I will unfortunately have to reconsider.

Parking is in a garage which I do hate but they validate and there are some free spots if you drive around a bit. BUT!!!! They used to have these massive gorgeous ceiling fans over the cardio equipment to keep the runners cool! Like the treadmills and ellipticals and stuff. And then I guess the fans they had broke and they had to find replacements- IDK if this was a decision from corporate or management (which fans to get) but they downsized MAJORLY. The new fans are so pathetic it's not even funny I'm constantly DRENCHED in sweat and I know it was probably cheaper! They're like fr half the size of the old fans!!!! However, it seems as though the staff here believes they can speak to pain members in a rude condescending and disrespectful town. So I'm sitting in the sauna mind you I'm in my shoes and socks mind you it does say I believe no shoes in sauna and I completely just skipped my mind that I had shoes on because I'm so stressed out with other shit in my world, however I'm sitting in the sauna with other guys that have their gnarly ass funky looking feet exposed Raw and it environment with steam which breeds bacteria in Chung clause that look like they're from 1938 and I've literally walked through four wars and some employee walks in and says to me hey Mister, yeah you can't be in here with your shoes and I kindly ask so what's the difference between the souls of my shoes and the soles of the sandals assuming it's because the bottom of my shoes are touching the tile floor he says no it's not that it's the funk that's inside your feet and I thought wow that's such a really appropriate way to speak to a paying customer. Now we can go down into the science in the biology of this understanding a room that's normally at around 120 to 140 with steam and moisture tends to be a breeding ground for bacteria so what do you think happens if you walk into sad room and your feet carrying fungus and bacteria are exposed in that air what do you think happens? Guess what happens as a biologist I can tell you what happens that fungus is now released into the air and that's what you're breathing in now the difference is when somebody actually walks in with their socks on inside of a shoe that's tied up. Guess what happens if there were to be any bizarre, funky, fungus, or bacteria they would not be exposed to that room so everybody's actually safer so isn't that something so yeah this guy had the audacity to speak to me as though I'm an asshole and unintelligent and though he is the all being seen being knowing of saunas, so I hope that he was able to learn a quick little science update from the library as a Reid for Free just to put into his cerebellum and medulla oblong Gatta so that he can use that as future information for further interactions with customers which hopefully management will read this and have a talking to this young man to let him know that people pay to be in a gym so yes, you can talk about your policies, but maybe you don't have to speak to them in a condescending, rude and demeaning tone.

5 stars - my go-to Equinox location…read more Equinox Studio City is my home gym and I'm here pretty much every day. I've been to Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, Glendale, Santa Monica, and Studio City is still my favorite overall. Biggest thing is cleanliness. For how busy this place gets, it's always maintained. Towels are always stocked, locker rooms are constantly being cleaned, and I've never walked into a shower that was out of products. There's always staff in there keeping everything in check. Another huge win is Erewhon Studio City right next door. You finish your workout and immediately have a solid post-workout meal ready. Nothing beats that. There's no Earth Bar here, but honestly you don't even need it because Erewhon is better. You do have to time your workouts though. Early mornings before 8am are the best, weekends early are even better and usually empty. After 9-10am it starts getting packed, and evenings around 5-7pm are honestly tough if you're trying to get a smooth workout in. People complain about parking because the plaza gets busy, but I've never had an issue. I go early, get a great spot, and I'm out before it gets crazy. One issue I've raised multiple times is people bringing oils into the steam room. When they pour it in, the whole place smells, it sticks to your body and hair, and I've had allergic reactions from it. It happens less now, but when it does it completely ruins the steam room. Feels like something that could be controlled better. The vibe here is more low-key, which I like. People mind their business and just work out. Compared to Hollywood, which can feel more social and sometimes uncomfortable, Studio City feels way more normal and focused. Front desk and trainers are hit or miss. Some are great, some don't even acknowledge you. Trainers here mostly keep to themselves unless you hire them, while other locations feel more welcoming. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Music is at a good level too--it doesn't interfere with your headphones, which I appreciate. At the end of the day, I'm here daily for a reason. If you figure out the timing, this is one of the best Equinox locations in LA.

Something just felt very busy and crowded about the space. I never feel anxious working out .. and I gotta be honest I was expecting more. The gym floor just feels CRAMPED. All the cardio machines felt on top of each other. There's a mirror in the center of the floor by the dumbbells that doesn't look secure since it shakes when people drop weights or walk by .. what's that about? If you're someone that likes to do hiit or has your own routine where you just need a little section to exercise, they don't have that. There's people everywhere. There no turf or anything. There's a small stretching area next to the group exercise classroom if you're able to squeeze in and find a space. I do like that they offer theraguns for use in that stretching area. The locker room was probably the best part. Very cozy and very clean. Second best part was the yoga class I took, I enjoyed that. It's nice to have so many classes available, but I'm not one for group classes. Oh yeah, they DID have a versa climber which is rare to find in a gym these days. I appreciated that because I love that thing. Overall I was disappointed, it's just not for me. There's gotta be a better location.
