Normally I've had great experiences here until today. Called and placed a hold on an adult bearded dragon, told my kids we were getting another one! They were so excited! Walked in and the bearded dragon was being sold by the lady who took my hold! We have spent thousands of dollars here on snakes, tanks, rabbits and feeders here. Never again. read more

Love going here vs the big box store on Emily drive. Sure it may not be as new and shiny, but the employees obviously care far more about the animals and their customers. I've bought loads of bugs for my daughters bearded dragon as well as the animal itself and haven't had any issues. Some of their supplies are crazy high though so do your research, for example their basking bulbs are 2-4 times what you would expect to pay from other retailers. read more

I recently moved to the area and needed to find a self dog wash and someone to trim my dogs nails. I was passing by when I noticed the very green signs so turned around and stopped in. They have one self dog wash which is well laid out, private with no interruptions or distractions. I then visited the groomers and they trimmed my dogs nails as well. I'm very happy to have found the Eastern Pet Supply for my dogs needs. The store is well stocked with many live animals, food, toys, and so much more. Everything you could want for a pet! read more

By reading the reviews, i can already tell my situation is common among other shoppers who purchased animals at this establishment. DO NOT BUY FISH from this company. almost every tank is marked "under observation" due to diseased fish. When i went into Eastern to purchase my fish, i chose one from a tank without the "under observation" sign. However, the handler did not sell it to me because the tank showed signs of disease, even though they had no announcement posted on the tank. I chose a different fish, from a tank the furthest away from the diseased ones, and brought it home. while at the store i was given a "24 hour warranty" on them. overnight the fish began spreading ick all over my tank and killed off every single one of my fish. So many hours and so much money dedicated to this tank, only for irresponsible handlers to quite literally ruin it. When i am assured that the fish i bought does not have a disease, i expect it to not have a disease. From looking at the rest of these reviews, this seems to be a common problem for ALL of their animals. This establishment should NOT be running if they cannot take care of their animals. not only is it EXTREMELY discouraging when someone else's mistake ruins your hard work, time and dedication, but it's quite sad to know that the conditions those animals live in are so wretched. my heart goes out to all the critters in their care currently and those who have died in their care. I will NOT be returning to eastern pet supplies, and if it was possible to rate zero stars, i would have. your employees genuinely need to be educated on how to keep the animals healthy and how to sanitize their supplies to not spread disease. read more

We had a horrible experience with the groomer there. On my yorkie poo's first visit, I told them to groom him. I couldn't get the receptionist to understand that so she said they did a feet, face and Fanny. They left the rest of him long and it looked ridiculous. The second time he came home with mats on his belly he hadn't had before. The third time was last Friday. They had a power outage earlier and instead of rescheduling customers they were trying to squeeze everyone in so they wanted to rush. They called about a half hour in and said his leg was matted to the skin and asked if they could shave the mat. I agreed. They called 10 minutes later saying he was matted all over and needed to shave him. That was a lie. I told them they were not shaving him. They said they do his feet face and Fanny again. I was furious. I went to pick him up and the owner treated me like I was stupid. Kept berating me for cussing her staff which I did not do. I told her it was bullshit that he was matted all over because it was. The receptionist asked what brush I used on him and I said a slicker. She didn't know what that was. Working at a groomer and not having heard of a slicker brush is beyond comprehension. They had shaved my poor dogs eyebrows and left his moustache untrimmed making him look silly. I immediately took him to another groomer to be evaluated. She said he had a couple mats on his legs. Not to the skin and she could comb them out. I brought my boy home and he was so traumatized he vomited twice. They also kept berating me for not knowing about a doodle coat. Basically inferring I shouldn't have a doodle breed. We didn't seek out a doodle breed. We rescued him from a humane society who found him wandering a busy street in Parkersburg. When I left eastern, the groomer said "good luck finding another groomer". I found one. Don't ever take your dog to eastern. read more

I will never shop there again. I bought a Kong toy and my yorkie tore it up in a couple hours. I took it back because that shouldn't happen in a couple hours. They would not return it. She called the owner who said I would have to contact Kong myself. That is a bunch of BS. She said it is because they are a small business owner. Well you should be standing behind every product you sell. This is why people don't shop small business anymore. They don't back up what they sell. Rude employees out on the sales floor, a layer of dust on everything in the store, sold us fish with ICK. Now our whole aquarium is sick and has to be treated...avoid this store for any aquatic/reptile/herp supplies or pets...second thought, just avoid this store all together. I bought fish from here and they all had the ich. After the employee insured me they were all healthy and not sick i put them in my tank and they infected my whole tank within one night. Killing all of my other fish and infecting my whole tank. Good waste of $500. I know it was the fish i bought from here because 60% of their fish were not for sale due to being infected. After the accident happened i called 2 days after the incident and asked if their was any way they could help me or at least provide me with something to clean my tank. They basically told me their was nothing they could do because their 24 hour warranty was up and that i shouldn't have boughten the fish because half of their tanks have signs on them saying not for sale. As i explain that the employee insured me that the fish she got from the unlabeled tanks were fine the manager the proceeded to get angry with me and once again told me their was nothing they could do. Biggest waste of money i've ever spent and no one i associate myself with will ever be stepping foot in this establishment again. read more

Was going to buy some of their Guinea pigs, stood there for 20 minutes and the only thing the guy said to me was don't touch them, there's a sign on this side, points out the sign and then walks away! I really wish I could say different but this is NOT the place to buy animals. personally after my encounter and experience this place shouldn't even have the ability to sell and or keep pets. I bought a rabbit from their store, firstly they didnt tell me the gender of said rabbit nor how to find out, they didnt give me the slightest info on taking care of said rabbit thankfully YouTube was created, the woman showing me around told me what they eat which included yogurt drops (toxic to bunnies due to the dairy) and afterwards I brought the bunny home which was fine until she saw my other rabbit, after so many attempts of causing a bond she still bites me and my other rabbit. my other rabbit (clem) licks to defend herself let alone bite so it's not her Causing problems and she came From a local breeder. these bunnies r thrown in a small container with rabbits from different litters. it's honestly sad that they taught these rabbits to fight and fear everything. read more

When I took my dogs there the girls were very sweet. When I picked them up they looked fine. Nothing spectacular. The prices were higher than before but I didn't mind because it's close to home. The problem was when I got home I took the bandana off my dog and realized they cut him really deep on his throat. The size of a silver dollar. My sister who is a groomer was in town from VA and said they definitely knew they did that. I took him to the vet to get checked out. I understand accidents happen but to not say anything is terrible. It could have ended up infected since it was so large and deep. read more

Took 5 hr to trim my dogs hair with an appointment . Management was less than helpful they said that is how long it takes to trim a dogs hair. I would not recommend this establishment to any one!!!!!! Also the associate informed us when we finally got to pick our dog up that they had not let him use the restroom the entire time he was there. read more

At first, I was pleased with how friendly the staff were and how the animals were treated vs. big name pet stores in the area. BUT I've had an incredibly awful experience which definitely sealed the deal for me: I will NOT be returning nor will I EVER suggest people shop at that store. A little background on myself: I'm a huge rat fan. I have 7 females and 2 males who I spoil and adore. I'm no stranger when it comes to rat care. I saw the big "jumbo feeder rats" and I just had to have one. (Yes, I know I was taking a chance. Again, I'm pretty damn rat savvy.) The small animal staff member that was working that day swore that he socialized the "jumbo rats" every day, but when we bought one, it took a huge bite out of my finger causing me to gush blood everywhere and bit my girlfriend so hard, it cracked her fingernail. (Not to mention, they stuffed the rat in a box and taped it up. We tried to brush that aside at first since the rat is question IS a feeder rat.) I had called the store to confirm that we could return this rat, the lady on the phone said yes. (With the exception that we would be "surrendering it" so we would not get our money back, which was alright with me since I didn't want an aggressive rat around my family.) Skip forward a week or two, I call again just to make sure we can bring him back before we drive all the way up there, and the small animal staff member who swore by this rat's temperament said that it was against company policy and they wouldn't accept a surrender nor a return. So now I'm pissed off over: An aggressive rat, how the aggressive rat was transported, and how no one told us about the policy, in fact, someone told us completely different a week before. Which either means the first girl wasn't trained correctly and thus we were NOT informed or the small animal staff member was bullshitting us for whatever reason. So my girlfriend and I decide to keep him. I mean, we didn't want to basically shove him back into a snake's mouth and I should have known better anyway, right? Feeder rats aren't bred like fancy rats are, right? As long as we don't touch him, the least we can do is give him a comfortable place to live the rest of his life, right? Well, turns out he has lice. We washed him just now and found his back covered with lice. Which, he most definitely DO NOT got from living here: We're all very clean and none of the animals nor people who live here have mites, fleas, ticks, or lice. And this puts my other rats in jeprodary. (It's 30$ per small animal just to get them checked out, let alone to get them the medicine they need. If my other rats get this, I'm fucked.) Long story short, I adopted an aggressive, lice covered rat from this pet store, the rat was packaged like mail, and then they told me I could return him BUT THEN said I couldn't and I'm kind of pissed off that I'm stuck with a rat that I can't hold and it may infest my other rats if I'm not careful. :) read more

We try to go here to support local business. Some of the staff is rude or doesn't acknowledge you at all. The hermit crabs are in awful shape. Some have dropped limbs. The tank isn't enclosed and they don't have the humidity they need. They are all slowly suffocating in that store. And they are all too cold. They are in painted shells and many are glued in the shell when they are in painted shells. Its a slow horrible death- DO NOT BUY THESE CRABS. They use to carry natural shells and now have switched to the painted I suspect to make more money. They charge a few dollars more for the painted. They are selling crabs that WILL die. The crabs are being abused by the store with that set-up. The Bettas are also in horrible shape. I bought one from here and it has had fin rot since we got it. I have spent over 50$ in meds trying to help this fish. They are way to cold in air conditioning and no one seems to change their water in their cups. Many had issues developing or had fin rot and/or clamped fins. Some looked close to death. Awful set up to see. Can't support local when they abuse the creatures in their care and you will spend more money just trying to fix problems the store creates. They should know better. read more

Which I will not say. I'm never going there to get anything we always use to go there to keep them in business but they are rude and act nasty.
