Do NOT bring any hybrid or EV here. Or maybe any car, tbh. I broke down 3 hours from home. All this fluid was leaking out from under the front, and the battery coolant reservoir would not hold any fluid. I had my Chevy Volt towed to them, and without telling me that this was the extent of what they did to evaluate and diagnose the car, they just hooked the car up an OBD reader (which "reads" the codes from a car's computer") and then told me my electric battery was dead and needed to be replaced (which costs at least $6-7k) and charged me $115 for their expert diagnosis. I am by no means a mechanic, just a curious and logical person who didn't understand why they were saying it was the hybrid battery when the hybrid battery is under the middle section of the car, and the coolant fluid was pouring out from underneath the very front of the car. They never told me they didn't do a physical inspection of the vehicle, even though I gave them (via text and phone) plenty of information about how the car was acting, the leaking fluid, and the empty battery coolant reservoir, regardless of me pouring full bottles of fresh coolant into it. They charged me $115 for this "diagnostic" and weeks of extreme stress, since I initially trusted them and believed that my hybrid battery was DEAD. I eventually decided I should double-check their claim before rolling my car off a cliff, and learned from Google that what had likely happened was that a rock or something went through my grille and damaged my battery radiator, so the car wouldn't hold the battery coolant it needs. It would just leak out like a sieve from where the rock punctured it. I called and asked for a refund of the $115 "diagnostic fee," and was told by Mark that he explained all this when he saw me (I literally never met him; my Volt was towed in and towed out without my presence), then he changed his story and said that it was on the paperwork they gave me when I picked up the car (nope, see above), and then changed the story again, saying the paperwork was left in the car (nope, nothing was in the car). I mean, if you don't recall what actually happened, don't just make stuff up. My lord. Then he said he'd tell the owner and someone would get back to me about my request for a refund. Guess who never called... Anyone. To charge $115 to plug in an OBD reader (this takes LESS THAN 5 MINUTES), and meanwhile not read the notes -- if any were even taken during the phone calls I had with the shop telling them all the details of the car's break down -- or read my texts also giving the information that would've made it clear that they should, idk, maybe check the thing where the coolant goes or the thing the coolant runs through... And then after that shakedown, give me a wrong answer, cause me all this grief, and then be defensive about it... Bad service. Bad behavior. Bad communication. Bad business. read more

Brought a Buick in this morning for a diagnostic on the exhaust system. Was not informed beforehand that the diagnostic charge is $190.00 per hour, or $142.50 for our 3/4 hour diagnostic. They absolutely have to inform customers BEFORE commencing any diagnostic review that the cost is this high. We were trying to compare fixing the exhaust system with Copeland's charge of $1100.00. Eastern's quote turned out to be $1924.00 less the $142.50 IF we did the work there! Their response when asked why they did not inform us of their high fee was: we will credit you for the $142.50 diagnostic fee. Had us over a barrel. The problem is we won't be doing the work there as Copeland is clearly cheaper. No business from us in the future. Prices should be posted and/or discussed beforehand. Period. read more

I got a fairly accurate diagnosis for my car but had to pay for the diagnositic which I have never been asked to do, then received an estimate which was $ 900.00 over an estimate of an award-winning mechanic (for skill and fairness) a number of miles from here. I really like to support local retailers but in this case, I feel quite taken advantage of. read more

We just stopped in because we backed into something and the ramp in our handicap accessible van wouldn't descend, which was a real problem as my sister is in a wheelchair and we couldn't get her out of the car. Without missing a beat, the owner of the company and a mechanic came outside, got on the ground to see what was wrong, identified the problem and fixed it -- in a matter of minutes. They were so unbelievably kind and generous and willing (not to mention -- skilled), and we are so grateful that we can now get my sister out of the car and resume our vacation!! They were lifesavers and so unbelievably kind and we can't recommend them more highly. read more

The price, $80.54, was nearly double for the same service by Herricks (47.96) 8 months ago. Took 3 times as long to be completed. Long time exceptional receptionist was gone. I recently got an oil change on my 2020 Audi here. Seemed to go fine, but the next morning my coolant leaked, and I had to have the car towed as it wasn't driveable. Turned out Eastern's tech had inadvertantly clipped one of the coolant lines when replacing the engine cover. The towing, runner to Falmouth to get the new OEM part from Audi, repair at a different garage all cost close to $500. I returned to Eastern to explain what had happened, the manager looked at the broken coolant line and said "I see just what happened." Brought my car in for a repair service on the lights. After charging for three hours of diagnostic work at a $160 labor rate they said they could not fix the lights. No allowance for their lack of experience in that repair in reducing the charge. They should not have taken the job to begin with. A total waste of $500. Offering to reduce the charge because of their lack of experience would have helped toward placating this customer. read more

I was charged significantly less than I felt I owed. During a couple sojourns in the waiting area I overhead several instances of exceptionally considerate service. Heads up to customers to make sure to ask questions and keep an eye out. We recently got two new snow tires from Eastern Tire on our 2021 vehicle. We are long time customers of theirs. Popped a tire the other day and had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership because of our service plan. The dealership notified us that the tire needing replacement was the wrong size and whoever put it on (Eastern Tire) was most likely trying to use up their stock they had in hand. Eastern Tire didn't tell us they were giving us the wrong size tires or ask if it was alright/or give us the option to get the proper tires. I'm guessing they thought we'd never notice. Luckily it's a front wheel drive vehicle but it also means these tires can't be rotated and it's not great to have the wrong size tires on a vehicle, especially a new one you're really trying to care of. This is the kind of thing they should definitely communicate to their customers. Good winter tires are not inexpensive and neither is the sense of trust between a business and its customers. Not great Eastern Tire. So just a heads up to anyone out there. Hate to say it but I guess keep an eye on these folks. Once in the past we also went in for winter tires on a truck and they put on all-weather instead and then argued with us when we asked to have them replaced with the winter tires we were looking for. Seemed like another example of not wanting to order the proper tires and not asking or giving any options. We are not argumentative/picky people, we're always willing to wait a few days to get our car back, and this is honestly the first negative review I've ever written. Too bad because we like the folks who work at Eastern and like to use our local places. But we have to put this out there just so the consumer knows to be on the lookout. read more

I had a headlight (Honda Civic) go out while I was attending a workshop near Rockland. The folk at Easter took the car, did the work quickly, and I was pretty happy. But the other headlight went out about 3 weeks later and I had it fixed at home, in Massachusetts. The garage in Massachusetts charged me $24, while Eastern charged me $54.68. THat seems a huge difference; I don't know if it is because Eastern overcharged or my local garage used an incredibly cheap off-brand headlight. Perhaps I should have comparison shopped? read more

Got some snow tires there today. Could not have been easier, very friendly staff and manager (owner?), took care of the installation in the time stated, helped me pick out the right tires and even put the old ones in plastic bags before putting them in the back of my new station wagon. Watched as they helped several customers with various car issues in the nicest possible fashion. Waiting area well heated and very clean, even sports a friendly dog. I brought my subaru 98 outback for state inspection first time in October. The inspected it and said it could not get a sticker because my rear light switch was broken and they did not have the part. I said OK I will get the part and come back. I came back about 20 days later with the part. But this time they could not sticker again because they claimed that my axle was all rusted out... WTF??? In 20 days?? So i went to other place and guess what they putted inspection right away and I even asked they to check the axle and they said it was OK for inspection. This guys is just milking they customers for job. Will never come back there. Avoid them Good luck. read more
