A theater, bookstore, shopping, restaurants, within walking distance of the towers and stadium? Wow. I'm sure students take advantage of it nowadays (I bet they drive.) And it's right by Grandview and Upper Arlington, etc., so it's handy for many people. A bit out of my way now, but we still get over here once in awhile. After all, with a Target, Staples, and the aforementioned attractions, you can get a lot done here. The theater, of course, is a big draw. And there are a few restaurants, including Corelife, Champps, and Bravo at one end, with Zoup, and pizza and sandwich places, at the other. We go to this Target sometimes, and Staples. Once in awhile World Market. I keep forgetting there's a Barnes and Noble here. It's handy off the freeway, and one of the few malls in the heart of town. Parking is easy. It's a pretty generic mall, but hey, sometimes you need the stuff that's at those.

As a shopping plaza in a truly 100% residential neighborhood, it definitely meets a need. The…read moreopening of Littleton's and Storyline bookshop has brought new life into the place. It still sort of looks like it is stuck in a time capsule, but gets better every year. There is a nice variety of businesses including a pharmacy, a tailor, nail salon, bakery, and several restaurants. You can easily drink coffee, eat a donut and get your errands done all at the same time.

Tremont Center is a great shopping area filled with quite a few local shops and several that retain…read morethe history of the area and will give you a real blast from the past! There is a nice large parking area for the center, and there's a great sidewalk allowing you to stroll a bit if you want to check different shops and restaurants out. Highlights include the Goodie Shop (try the popular cinnamon sticks or go for another delicious baked good), the Chef-o-Nette (it apparently has one of the oldest drive thrus in the nation), the Tremont Pharmacy, and the UA Food Market, which is the current rendition of the local grocery store (formerly Huffman's and Tarpy's). There is a classic old clock that is a symbol of the center located in the parking lot. In non-COVID times, they've often hosted wonderful events, such as craft markets, holiday events (a great Christmas one with live reindeer, carriage rides, warm chocolate chip cookies from the Goodie Shop, and visits with Santa Claus!)

There's the Japanese culture end, with a gift shop, bakery, market, and high- and low-end restaurants. There's the Pepperidge Farm outlet store (we remember.) There's Penzey's spices, a cool store in a cool old building (former bank.) There's Xi Xia and Chilispot, authentic Chinese food. Pho Chef Vietnamese. VGet, not vegetarian, more an Asian cafe and bakery. And there are a few other shops and food places, like Mochi Ring donuts. Plus a Staples (a smaller one, formerly an Office Depot.) Across the street is Honey Dip donuts and Pacific Eatery, and CM Chicken, and more. An old-school walkable strip mall, in a U, plus the Japanese section off one corner with a courtyard and benches. You'll need a rest after trying to visit all the shops. Worth spending a nice afternoon shopping and eating.

They've got it all from fine food to groceries to salons to educational services. The cornerstone of Stoneridge has to be its two large retailers: Kroger & Marshall's/HomeGoods. Another big anchor is the 16 screen Cinemark Movie Theater. Along the main thoroughfares in detached free-standing buildings, you will find almost every type of fast food chain such as Arby's, KFC, Taco Bell & Wendy's. For its age, Stoneridge has weathered the multiple storms of retail competition all around. For instance, as Easton continues to grow, Stoneridge hasn't lost a step. As so many other Plazas (or Strip Malls) have squandered over the recent years throughout Northeast Columbus, Stoneridge still stands as a premier shopping destination without all the vacancies. Like I said before, Stoneridge is like a home away from home for me. As a matter of fact, I'm there so frequently that I decided to get my mail sent there! PakMail is one of my favorite stores at Stoneridge Plaza!

This is a nice shopping center in, as the name indicates, the Mill Run area of Hilliard. Lowe's…read moreHome Improvement store is on one side and Arhaus The Loft furniture and decor store is on the other. In between are several smaller stores and restaurants, including a Dollar Tree, Aquarium Adventure (worth a visit just to check out all of the fish and creatures, even if you don't have your own aquarium!), Tuesday Morning, and Hale's Ales and Kitchen. It is easy to walk from store to store, and there is plentiful parking available by the shopping center.

Is it possible?…read more At this point in time, New Albany Square only houses 10 businesses which includes five retail stores, four restaurants, and a hair salon. It's not what you call a true "destination location" like Stoneridge Plaza which is caddy-corner from this strip center, but it's not all bad either. I shouldn't complain too much. I really enjoy all the restaurants and I frequent a couple of the retail stores. But you won't catch me dead in the hair salon, so don't get any funny ideas! The only real problem in getting to the Square is the traffic. If you're at all familiar with the Morse and Hamilton intersection, it ain't always easy to get around. The entryways into the Square are not as freely accessible as most shopping centers and can be clogged by bottlenecks at times. The funniest thing (to me at least) about this shopping center is its name - "New Albany Square". It's a misnomer. It is not located in "New Albany" nor is it shaped in the form of a "Square". (Now we're splitting hairs, aren't we!) It's technically located in "Columbus". The New Albany border is a mile down the road and this "Square" is shaped more like a "Rectangle", actually. Just for kicks, I would like to propose a name change for this shopping center. How about "Columbus Rectangle"? Any takers?

Open for more than a year now, this place is expanding, and becoming a center of Dublin/Plain City…read moreshopping. Anchored by Costco, with some fast food and some casual, plus shopping. Aldi, a bit more upscale than most, provides groceries. Marshall's and Home Goods have clothes and, well, home goods. There's a PetSmart, cellular store, nail place, etc. Wild Ginger looks to be opening soon, with Asian fusion. There's a Chase Bank that just opened. For food: Wendy's, Tim Horton's, Beer Barrel, and Bibibop round out your options. Fast or good, take your pick. Grab a bite, shop, and fill up (if you're a Costco member.) And be on your way. Watch out for the roundabouts. Another plus: this led them to finally put a stoplight in at Cosgray. This is handy for me on the way to work, and is right on 161 for anyone going to Plain City or the bustling metropolis of Kileville.
