Here are my praises about hiring Mokoi at every step of the process: --Estimate and Proposal: Owner Viliami Mokoi came to inspect the work to be done, offered his recommendations from his years of experience, and put the specific descriptions of the work to be done in a written proposal (total of 4 proposals), including details I wanted to add, such as locks on the vinyl gates and installing a mailbox in the wall. I tried to obtain estimates from other contractors, but no one else was willing to do all the work such as removing roots and foliage and running underground pipes on all three sides of the house for the drainage system. --Superb Workmanship: I am still admiring the 2-tiered rock walls that are beautiful and solid (see photo). To install the underground drainage system, the crew had to use heavy equipment to excavate the jungle surrounding the house and haul in gravel to cover the pipes. The area is now clear and spacious with a hidden drainage system ready for heavy rain from hurricane and Kona low storms. Manoa rain and worker shortages caused delays in work, but the crew made up time by working hard and fast when they could. During the whole time, Vili texted to me about the progress of the work and promptly answered my questions. I am very pleased with the final products of the built walls and installed drainage system as well the patched concrete wall and leveled sidewalk. --Five Star Clean-Up: The crew hauled out all the piles of debris from the jobs and even swept up. He routinely would schedule a time for work, only to cancel on the promised day. This happened 7 times! His team started doing a nice job but then cut corners by using stone scraps in parts of the rock wall that look terrible. They also left a mess in my yard with rock dust that has killed the grass. Worst of all, we had clearly agreed on the extent of work, only for Vili to tell me he made a mistake and would need more money. (I wanted his guys to be whole but did not want to deal with Vili anymore, so we cut off the job.)

The area next to the steps and along the front of the house needed a retaining wall to hold the soil and clean up the slope. Their crew came out, walked the space with me, and explained how they would build the wall and shape the curve so it would look natural with the yard and the house. They also talked about the base and drainage so it would hold up long-term. The work itself was done efficiently and the crew was easy to work with. They prepped the base, set the blocks carefully, and made sure the curve of the wall flowed nicely along the front of the yard instead of just building a straight line. They kept the job site pretty clean and checked in along the way to make sure everything looked right. The finished wall looks great and really improves the front of the house. It's solid, level, and the curve gives the landscaping a much cleaner look than what was there before. Overall, a very positive experience. If you need retaining wall or landscaping work done, Blessed Construction LLC is definitely worth considering.

We (Management) are not too familiar with the process in regards to remediation, insurance claims and timelines so their guidance has been extremely helpful and reassuring. Ohana has been great with communicating what needs to be done and where we are in terms of who handles what. They even attended a meeting in which they addressed various concerns from management to unit owners. My take prior to dealing with Ohana was that all of these companies all very similar other than who has a GC license and who doesn't but I've been sadly mistaken. Speed, timing, responsibility and reliability is everything and makes the world of difference when it comes to not only operations but for the affected Units. For this I am extremely appreciative to Ohana Construction.

My wife called for an estimate and they came out the same day. Quoted us a price and told us how long it would take. They showed up and went right to work. Clearing out the old garden and preparing the area for new concrete. In one day the old garden was gone. The next morning they came and cleaned up all the debris, trash and dirt. Setting up cones on the road and personally directing traffic, Samson made sure the local traffic was safe during the 1 hour presence of the cement truck.
