Roger and his team are amazing! I came into a brand new car, thanks to a bad accident that happened late last year. Unfortunately, even though my new car had almost every bell and whistle you could find, the only thing it did not have was Apple CarPlay. It seems like an unimportant thing; however, it was becoming more and more dangerous for me to get car mounts, when my phone either refused to stay up, and would keep falling on the floor. I also would have had to keep buying new mounts for every phone transition I would make in the future. I just wanted my screen to mirror so that it would be safer for me, and it is pretty nifty to have everything all in one place. After calling and emailing many other places around town, and being treated like an idiot for not being car savvy at most of the other establishments, Roger was able to give me a very reasonable, affordable price. He stated specifically that he didn't want to screw me over and wanted to work with my budget. The head unit he offered me is really nice and it's even fancier than I imagined. The other places quoted me 2x as much as he did, and what is even more awesome is that his team comes to you! I got to sit at my desk and work while they worked on my car. Another plus of not having to wait until after work and then waiting around for my car to be worked on someplace else. A couple of members of Roger's team came out to where I was located. Jason was also a super nice guy. I forget the other guy's name that came with him, but he was also a pleasure to work with. There was a slight hiccup with one of the parts they had ordered for my car, to retain my steering wheel controls and backup camera capabilities. Roger called me right away and assured me that they would get the right part to me ASAP, and they wouldn't charge me any extra of course. As promised, Jason came back out again a few days later. Through all of the complications, they were all very easy to work with and I was able to get exactly what I wanted for a great price. My car model happens to be one that was a real pain in the ass for retaining the backup cam and steering wheel controls. Roger threw in a brand new, top-of-the-line camera for me, because he wanted to give me what was promised and he really cares for his clients. Very honest and trustworthy people. If I ever need anything else for my car, I will definitely give them a call again! I contacted Eastside in Aug. '09 to install a backup camera in my 2006 Pleasure-Way motorhome, which is built on a Ford Econoline van chassis. I saw the Eastside mobile unit in my sister's neighborhood, then again this business name in the rolodex of the service rep at the Ford dealer when I was there for service. An omen. Roger was great. I called him up, we talked about what I was looking for, he described the product that he sold, I did some web research into the unit, thought it met my needs and Roger ordered the unit and installed it the next day. After reviewing the instructions for installment, I realized I didn't have the necessary tools to install the parts. I wouldn't have saved much money if I were to buy the tools and set up the cruise control system myself. Therefore, I decided to hire a mechanic for this job. Previously some joker from Craigslist came out charged me $50 bucks and all he could tell me was the previous installer did a horrible wiring job without figuring out the problem. I contacted Eastside Mobile after finding them here on Yelp. I spoke to Roger on the phone, initially just to quote out a new set of speakers. I had some pretty shitty stock speakers in my Rav4, and after talking to him, I didn't even call anyone else. He was really easy to talk to, and reassured me that his business could take care of me. He explained what speakers they offered in the Good, Better and Best ranges, and told me that I could expect a much better sound just from their "Good" set of speakers. He never tried to "upsell" me, and was really straight forward on their pricing as well. I explained that I was a bit concerned with any manufacturer warranty challenges, and he shared that he had been in business for over 30 years and had never had issues. They back their labor with a warranty of their own. Roger and Cody came out to my office (talk about convenient) to change out the speakers. I handed over my keys, and they were done within an hour! Roger explained their process and what they completed. All in all, speakers and labor, it was an extremely good deal. I followed up with Roger a week later after hearing a slight vibration, and they came out the next day to check things out. Small problem solved - no issues, no questions asked. They are super responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. Would absolutely recommend them to friends/family/yelpers. Wish I had more things for them to do for me... I had a great experience with Eastside Mobile Electronics. We recently bought a used minivan, and the one thing I was bummed about not having was an OEM-installed backup camera system: we had seen the 2.4" monitor in the Kia Sedona rearview mirrors and had been impressed. I did a lot of research into trying to get the same quality OEM mirror with a monitor installed: the auto-dimming kind rather than the one that ends up being a darker mirror. I ran across Eastside Mobile Electronics, which offered the (now discontinued for 3rd party sale) 2.4" monitor ... and the owner of EME, Roger, offered to sell and install the 3.5" LCD monitor version for the exact same price. Now that it's installed, I'm *much* happier we have the 3.5" monitor (about the same size as an iPhone screen) than the 2.4" monitor offered in the "power package" OEM from the Kia dealer on new cars. Since EME is based out of Portland and I'm in Seattle, the installer Storm drove north and I drove south and the installation was done in a mall parking lot. Storm was right on time, courteous, explained exactly what he was doing and why, and finished within an hour. The install is clean, the wires routed internally behind the panels, and the camera is well-placed. I would highly recommend EME. They gave me a fantastic price for the Rostra 3.5" backup system that, fully installed, was just a few dollars more than the cheapest price I could find for the parts alone online, meaning it was at least $100 less for installation than the cheapest quote on installation alone... and a full $350 less expensive than a price quote I received from a Seattle installer for sale and installation, and that would have been of the less-desirable, non-auto-dimming Rostra package. Given that we have super-active toddlers, it was one less stress point to have a good and reliable backup system that doesn't clutter the dash. (As I mentioned, it's integrated into the rearview mirror: you see the monitor only when you put the car in reverse; otherwise, it's just the regular mirror. There was a recent NPR feature on the actual mirror, which is manufactured by the Michigan company Gentex.) I appreciate that Roger actually steered me away from the non-autodimming model based on the feedback he'd received from other customers (who complained about the mirror being too dark). And the installation went without a hitch. I was quite impressed. The Rostra setup has a 3 year warranty, but the EME *installation* carries a lifetime warranty. read more

I inherited a truck from my dad when he passed away. I'm not a truck kind of girl but driving my dad's truck always makes me feel close to him and all the fond memories we shared going to places together so I couldn't bring myself to sell it. Because I felt nervous trying to park what to me felt like a huge vehicle, I decided to invest in installing a backup camera. I found Eastside Mobile Electronics online and discovered that they come to you to do the repairs so I wouldn't have to wait in a lobby somewhere for hours while work was being done. Roger talked me through my options on the phone and sent me links to the websites that had the parts he would use so I could see what they looked like and decide on what style I wanted to go with. Roger and his team (Jason and Austin) did an excellent job! They arrived a little early, got started as soon as I was ready, only took 1 hour as they promised, and BONUS since they came to me I was able to get stuff done around the house while I waited. Jason did a great job installing the camera in the back and the wiring under the truck. He even cleaned up my battery when he saw I had a lot of corrosion on it and added a protective liquid (sorry I don't know what it is called). Austin handled removing the Weather Tech and floor lining for the install and discovered my dad had hidden a spare key that I can now use. He also showed me how to unlock the Weather Tech liners my dad put in, just in case I need to take them out or adjust them myself in the future. Roger took care of wiring and configuring the dashboard display to receive the video from the camera installed on the back license plate. He showed me the display and how it turns on when I put my truck in reverse. Roger let me know I have a 3 year warrantee and will take care of any issues that may come up related to the install or the parts. I took my truck for a drive as soon as they were done and the backup camera worked GREAT! The video was very clear. My son and I tested how far out from the Green, Yellow and Red lines on the display correlate to how far away an object is from the back of the truck to help me get a better idea of the depth in the display. Last summer I purchased a 2011 Ford Ranger XLT. It comes with everything except cruise control. So, when I got the Secretary of War, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, my wife's permission to get an aftermarket CC unit, I asked the dealership who they recommend and they referred me to Eastside Mobile Electronics. If there was a way to give this company a negative 50 I would. I spent around $1,200 for an install of a stereo and backup camera on an old truck I have last October. This place was referred to me by my Favorite Ford Dealer (whose name I will not mention because I am embarrassed for them to be associated with Eastside). I am not talking about Courtesy Ford (who does a lot with Eastside and Courtesy has a checkered past). I put up with a lot from a bad Sony to having to upgrade (more money to a Pioneer) and the lack of support after the sale was somewhat spotty. There is a young man that works here named Austin (he is a good guy and a gentleman, I just have a problem with the owner). The final straw for me was from about six weeks ago I was getting kicked off of bluetooth (while talking) and bluetooth audio when I hit a bump (not every bump but it progressively got worse). I visited the young man 3 weeks ago and asked if it was the USB Port (he said not) and I found myself calling him for follow up (as in what did he hear from their stereo supplier). I was told it was either a software issue or wiring behind the radio. I waited another ten days and finally called my friend Peter Clover (he owns Mobile West) and I should have gone there to begin with. Peter told me over the phone it was "likely" a USB Port and probably flush mounted. I visit Peter and roughly $100 later problem solved (I was also told the product they used was of poor quality). In Austin's defense he did call me thinking it was the USB Port (I already had Mobile West fix it). I contacted Roger Keto (the owner of Eastside) and said I thought I was due some money, he refused (that is alright, by this time I did not expect much from him) and he said they were waiting to hear what Pioneer had to say. So let's review shall we? My radio loses it connectivity when I hit some bumps and the other guy (Mobile West) knows right off the bat it is a USB Port. Roger proceeds to tell me that my radio is no longer under warranty from them since someone else touched it (I told him I was fine with that). Actually I consider that a Blessing. How do I feel about all of this? I am sharing my experience with my preferred Ford dealer and I have several contacts in the Automobile Trade. I will just stick to the facts but please be aware, this company does not believe in service after the sale (it's the owner, not the employees). I also forgot to mention earlier that when they installed USB ports in my B-Pillars of the truck they had to take out the B-Pillar and the Plastic Tread Plate in the back seat floor, they never put the tread plate back correctly and I had to buy two new ones since they broke the clips (My dealer can verify this for me). For how hyper-critical I often am of user reviews, I feel like my soul has been damned to a frozen hell for actually writing a Yelp review. And tagging 5 star at that (Always suspect. Always.) So here I sit, shivering on a lake of fire turned frozen ice telling you that I am f-ing stoked about Roger and the Eastside Mobile guys. They installed a system in the Portland Short Bus this morning and I could not be happier. The bus was already a bear to work with - the deck needed to be installed outside of the driver compartment where passengers could access it, speakers needed to be installed where sound could be maximized, and everything had to be sturdy enough and totally out of the way of the sometimes destructive forces of tipsy revelers. Roger took the time to come by and look at the bus first, walked me through the ideal setup for our needs, procured the components, performed the installation, and did so within our budget. As fun as it would be to spend a ton of dough on assorted audio gadgetry, the loud rattles of the bus, the acoustics of the interior, and the din of conversation render hi-fi components relatively pointless for us, so I'm also stoked that he didn't try to sell me crap that I didn't need. I didn't even have to leave the office - I'm straight up a sucker for mobile convenience. I'm too busy waste my time haggling with sales people, then taking the time to drive it to the install location, then spending idle time waiting for the install to be complete. Bah - screw that.
