After thoroughly reading reviews, and getting multiple quotes, I decided to go with Mobile West for window tinting on my wife's car. They were not the cheapest, nor were they the most expensive. After getting quoted $425 for the entire car with ceramic tint, we scheduled the appointment. I dropped the car off and was told it would take about half the day. I arrived back to pick it up after receiving a call about 4.5 hours later. I went inside and paid. They originally tried to charge me more than was quoted because of a total of 9 windows instead of 7 (they count the 6 inch triangles next to the front two) but Peter made it right, and only charged what he had quoted. I should've inspected the car before paying, because their were several issues with it. After inspecting it, I brought Peter out to take a look. There were several scratches up the sides of the windows, and what looked like rust particles under a few. I am aware that there would be bubbles for a few days while they dried, but this was not that. Peter told me that it was from the plastic tool that they use, and that it should go away in a few days, but if it didn't, to come back and they would redo them. I also noticed that from spraying the windows and the film, our car doors and rear seat had stains on them that were not previously there. I messaged Peter and was scheduled the next week to have them redo some of the windows and have the detail guys clean the fabrics. After bringing it back to them, they did replace the window tints that had the scratches, and I couldn't tell if they actually did detail it, because some of the liquid lines are still visible. Unfortunately, this $425 window tint is going to cost me more money because I'll have to take the car to a real detail shop to clean up. They also left scrap tint trash crumpled up on the floor of the back seat. Overall, I'm not sure how they do with car electronics, but I would personally not recommend them for window tinting. read more

While my initial experience fell short, Steve and the team did everything to make it right. Isn't that how all business should operate? Needing a real stereo system for my car, I investigated a few shops and decided on Mobile West. My challenge is that all of my music is on iTunes but my amartphone is Android. I don't want to Bluetooth music from my Android as it drains the battery. My goal was to use my iPod shuffle as the music source, which they said could be done. It can't. The speakers, while good, were located in an area that were blocked anytime I had my gym bag or groceries on the floor. After a few back and forths, I upgraded the stereo and put in additional speakers to give it surround sound and to avoid the side door situation. I have a tiny car, which makes it challenging. Mobile West gave me full credit for the previous equipment and the install, which I put towards the new configuration. Stereo system works, not with iPod shuffle, but with an old iPhone that I keep just for this purpose. Most important, the sound is fabulous! Several months later, I noticed the small microphone for voice commands had popped off, opening the sun visor had knocked it. I stopped by the other day and Steve greeted me at the door, remembering me and my car. After taking a look, he said the microphone should be in a different location away from the visor. Without hesitation, he said they would rewire and install a new microphone holder, no charge, since they stand by their work. I didn't have to bring my receipt or anything. He remembered me and that was good enough. I brought my car in the next morning, it took just 10 minutes to rewire to new location. Not only did it look better, it picks up my voice better. Had an issue with a backup camera install I tried to DIY, that just ended up being a simple wiring issue. Was quoted for the hourly rate, but since the work only took a min or two they didn't end up charging for the service. Staff was friendly and informative when offering recommendations for other services as well, without being heavy handed. 10/10 would recommend based on morals. read more

They totally screwed up. I was quoted a 60-90 minute install on speakers I brought in. I sit and wait. 2 hours later it's only "20 more minutes" after I track someone down. An hour later, I check on my car, nobody is working on it but it "just got finished". They installed the speakers in the rear instead of the front. They said they weren't the right kind for the front, and that the only reason why my dying front speakers sound bad is because of the EQ tuning. The speakers have been dying for over a year, it ain't the EQ. Nobody spoke to me about this. We emailed and I said I was having my front speakers replaced. Nobody communicated to me during or before the install. They let me sit for 3 hours, installed incorrectly, and never said a word about the wait or the install until after I had to personally grab someone to ask. Having to now wait even longer while they take everything out and replace it back to the way it was. Absolutely wasted my day. Hopefully the speakers can be returned. A single check in, "hey these don't fit the front, is that what you wanted?" is all they needed to do. Awful service. read more

I've had 2 cars upgraded here. The first was my Acura TSX, I was already happy with the sound system but was curious about improving the sound proofing. I went with the midrange upgrade and now the road noise is reduced a bit, even better my sound and bass were noticeably improved! Second job I brought the wife's Nissan rogue to get a complete speaker upgrade. We spent a lot of time listening to the various options in the store, actually pretty fun and kudos to Peter for the great customer service, extremely helpful and patient for 2 indecisive people! We narrowed it down and went with his recommendation. Wife isn't easily impressed and debated to stay stock to save the money. I pushed to get it done and the sound in her car is fantastic now! All we wanted was a simple cd radio for my mother in laws truck as hers had quit working. Everyone else wanted my to leave the truck for a day. As she was visiting from Montana this wasn't practical. We made an appointment, I brought the truck in and waited for it. I was expecting the 2 hours or so wait I was told but was pleasantly surprised at 90 minutes that the install was finished. We were able to surprise my mother in law and she's happy as a clam. They did a great job on the install and didn't try and upsell us on anything. And the price was reasonable! While looking around their store I know they're capable of high end installs and quite the variety. my only complaint is their actual waiting are is upstairs and not handicap available. But still I would come here again if one of our vehicles needs to have an upgrade or replacement system. Nicely done Peter! read more

I drove here today for an appointment at 0900 that I made a little over a week ago. I drove all the way from Molalla (hour drive) only to get here and all the doors are locked. There were a few guys in the garage who didn't greet me at all I had to go to them. If I hadn't gone to them, I doubt they would have ever asked me if I needed something. They take my information, tell me the guys running late to do my window tinting. I go sit in my car for 15 then see them unlock the doors. Go to the door, guy working there comes out and says "bad news, we can't get you in today." "And we didn't actually write your number down so we couldn't call you." Do with that as you will! I recently brought a Subaru and anyone who owns a Subaru knows they are not the best sounds, nor is it soundproofed well. I read reviews about this place and thought I give them a try. I'm Deaf as well so I always worry about being treated indifferently. This was not the case, I was welcomed and they took their time to explain what would be done to improve my issues. I accepted what they had in mind. I got tweeters upgraded and all four doors sound proofed. When they were done, I was blown away by the massive change. Had a dash cam installed on my previous car two years ago. Peter was communicative and helpful and got my car taken care of and cam installed. What I didn't know was that during the installation process, they broke a clip on a wiring harness in the hatch and repaired it with some sort of silicon putty. The issue here is that they failed to inform me about breaking something on the car and their solution to repair. What ended up happening was that eventually that silicon putty failed and caused a leak in the hatch that I noticed after washing the car. This could also explain why I kept finding wet areas in the carpet after a rainy day. I can understand when brittle plastic clips and stuff break (it tends to happen with VWs) but I do have a problem with not being transparent about it. Unfortunately, the car was crashed into not long after the discovery and was replaced (which is why I hadn't reached out) so I suppose ultimately, the leaking issue is now a non-issue. I did reach out about further services with my new car but ultimately chose to go to another shop. read more

Update: So after a month of using the Kenwood radio it developed a problem of forcing the volume to max level after every fifth unlocking of the power door locks. Definitely not a feature! Peter was great in handling this issue! He had one of his guys troubleshoot the issue for a full day and when it became obvious it was a Kenwood issue he arranged to swap out the head unit for a Pioneer top-of-the-line head unit. After moving to Portland and getting an older car, it was clear I needed a more modern audio setup. I wanted better sound, smartphone integration and just a more modern experience. My favorite auto body shop recommended Mobile West, so we stopped by. It was the right decision. The first thing you'll notice when you enter is that the owner, Peter, loves audio, loves his shop and loves making customers happy. It took him all of 30 seconds to identify what I was looking for, as well as price range, and he had me all sorted out. He also gave me the full tour, including the custom home theater setup room, which I intend to visit him again for. Anyway, we scheduled an appointment, I dropped off my car in the morning and had it back in the early afternoon. There were even loaners available if needed. The result? Amazing, the new system they installed was exactly what I wanted. It somehow uses the system and software updates to make my existing speakers sound waaaaay better than they ever have. It was like they replaced those too, but didn't. My new system even has the Tesla style system when you can send the sound to different parts of the vehicle using a touch interface. The Carplay works great too! Things to add? Peter is an awesome dude to talk to. He'll take you through all your options, and he gave me a full tour of my new system once it was installed. I highly recommend anyone looking to update the electronics in their car, or looking for some kick ass home theater equipment to visit Peter at Mobile West. You'll be extremely satisfied. read more

Unfortunately while I thought it sounded pretty good their tuning of my DSP was mediocre at best. i'm running my system full active and they summin Speakers together, no EQ adjustments, Time alignment settings were all wacky. Pretty disappointing for $250. Luckily I found someone who does actual real tuning and I was blown away by the difference. no comparison, The person went through every speaker individually and EQ them then had me go through imaging test tracks and he adjusted accordingly, took about four hours and he only charged me $200. it was still pretty darn cool though that I was given a loaner vehicle while my truck was there. I think they are a decent shop regardless. . read more

I checked out a few shops for price quotes on an audio system and it was Peter and Mobile West who was able to discuss a strategic plan in layman's term that made sense. This immediately set them apart from the other shops. Also, Peter makes it a point to carry only reputable, higher end brands in his shop and was able to work out a great price point . Also a big convenience is the loaner vehicles. My qualm is that it took several adjustments to get the system right. I thought some of these adjustments could have been caught the first time around, saving me a return trip to the store. It seems best to be very communicative about what you are looking for. With that being said, Peter works to satisfy his customers. Anytime I requested an adjustment, Peter had a loaner vehicle and a time available. When all was said and done, I have a great sound system, blind spot detection, and back up camera done for a solid price. My rides are much more enjoyable and safe. read more

My story.... I needed a new iPod connector for my car. The last one I had was very expensive and installed by the dealer. Well it lasted only about 2 years. So I needed a new one but didn't want to pay the high price. Mobile West was close and no bad reviews. The manager or owner met us the first day and discussed how these devices just don't last forever so wasn't surprised mine stopped working just past it's warranty. I guess we didn't really like hearing that right before paying him to put in another device that will probably fail just past it's warranty. Left the car when I picked it up it took quite a while to get it all configured how I wanted it to work and they stayed till I was satisfied. (the device was not intuitive at all) Okay I can learn it and memorize the new buttons. So the 3 stars was I had to go into the shop three times (so far). The initial installation, then the box under the dash fell down and was dangling, then after it was reattached it fell again within 3 days and this time it loosened the connection and so it didn't work. This last time he told me he used a really strong adhesive so it shouldn't fall. Not sure why they didn't use that the first time or at least the second time. Overall it seems like an okay place and decent price. Not doing back flips since it was taken so many visits to get it right. read more

Disappointed... we took our acura rl here to have an auxiliary cable installed so we can plug our phones into the car and listen to our music. Seemed simple enough, the men working on the car repeatedly told us it was a piece of cake or "easy peasy" so we felt confident. Took about 3 hours to do the install but from the moment we drove away we were finding problem after problem. Firstly, lots of constant static from the speakers and Our passenger side heated seat completely stopped working. We called them and let them know about these initial problems and they were very helpful and willing to help fix it so we scheduled to come back on our next available day off... the morning after it was installed, our car would not start. So we jump started and called mw again. Still very happy and willing to help resolve the issues. The next morning, our battery was still dead, and now service light are popping up on my dash saying my oil is low, so we go to Acura and, you guessed it, no problem with the oil at all, had it changed last month. Another two days of jump starts and random codes and no heated seat pass before we can take the car back to mw. The cigarette lighters mechanism has stopped working as well. Back at the shop, everyone was very kind and respectful, got the cable removed in about in hour. Now our car is fine again. Battery works like it always has, no codes, seat heater works again though the lights on the switch don't work. We are Disappointed that they did not really take responsibility for the things that went wrong. Only told us that we should keep the part because "once its removed and everything works again, you will want to bring the car back to us and have it put back in." But absolutely not. We have had this car for a few years now and this was our first time doing any sort of electrical work, everything has worked incredibly well until they had their hands on it. Now that the cable is gone, the car is back to its prime, I'm sure that these guys are capable of some incredible work.... we just missed out on that I guess. Hey, at least our hard earned money is going to a local business owner even if it didn't work out in our favor. read more

I was quoted 2k to replace the factory speakers with matching Audison components. They told me it was done 3 times. The first time, they only replaced the door speakers and disconnected all the others. Second time, they added an amp and reconnected my same factory speakers. Third time, they finally changed all the speakers but added mixed matched components then tried to charge me 3775. Bullshit, Peter did me a "favor" and dropped it to 3200. For about 1000. Bucks worth of equipment..they had my car for a week. I just paid the 3200 and got my car back. Its gonna cost another 1000 to have someone else fix all their mistakes. Expect to pay way more and not get done what you ask. Peter is a nice guy, because you are paying him well. Rip off. Outrageous Audio puts these guys to shame, they get it done perfectly for less and in a couple hours with much better components. read more

My initial experience with MobileWest was not great. I had them install a new receiver and backup camera and also got a quote for a whole new speaker system, including speakers and new 6.5" Coax speakers. Pete (I think?), one of the owners of the company, walked me through the options and ordered the parts for me, saying that if I decided to go with everything or just the receiver he would have everything ordered for when I returned the following week for installation. Other than a crack in the dash from the installer over-tightening a screw, the installation went fine. I decided to just go with the receiver and camera, waiting on speakers, and although Pete was having a rough day, I made it out of there spending only a little more than I was quoted. Not a big deal. However, the factory speakers were clearly not cutting it so I went back in the next week to inquire about the 6.5" coaxial speakers. This is where things went wrong. It turns out they had installed 5" speakers instead of 6.5" that I was quoted. Although it's not a huge difference, clearly, there is a difference between the sound and depth of 5" and 6.5" speakers. I wasn't expecting it to sound like a subwoofer but the sound was clearly not what I had been demo'ed or was quoted and charged for. I was quoted 6.5" and the box they sent me home with clearly said 5". So I debated coming back and asking them about it, figuring they would make an excuse and tell me they made the decision based on technical reasons. But I decided to visit them to be sure and was glad I did. I was greeted by Steve who said Pete was not in that day but was happy to help problem solve with me. Steve realized that I was sold the wrong speakers because the 6.5" speakers were not in stock at the time of installation. He felt bad, was honest about the situation and apologized. He then went a step further and offered to install similar versions to the 6.5" speakers that I was originally quoted but with free installation. He even did a fair amount of sound insulation on the vehicle around the new speakers, to help deliver the sound I was going for. To make it a little better he sold me the front tweeters I was eyeballing at cost and let me take those away with me since there was minimal installation required. Steve made it right and I was happy with the way things turned out. I'd return back to them before going to the other competition, assuming you catch the right employee or are very persistent on getting what you ask for. Steve won me over and made it worth returning. Giving 4 stars because of the end result and the crack in the dash. read more
