Can I say, "Tim Armstrong is my hero?" Wow. This guy's farm is pretty darn impressive and that comes from an ag alumni and whose parents have their own small persimmon and pomelo farm [among other things they grow]. Apparently, he is also instrumental in the success for Berry Good Farms which is a terrific location benefiting a lofty cause. You have to check out this space and all of the things growing there. It's a little bit out of the way for some, but well worth the experience and the amazing variety of plants grown and sold here compared to most other nurseries in the Jacksonville area. Plenty of rare annuals and perennials! We picked up some mulberry trees ($6 & $20) and a blueberry plant ($6) and even got to sample some mulberries from their mature plants. What I also wanted to buy was all of the varieties of persimmon trees ($30), olive trees ($30), and rare edibles that you'll be reluctant to find seeds for online much less live plants. I'm so happy I got my Okinawa Spinach ($2-5) and Longevity Spinach ($2-5) both of which are perennials and grow year after year. If you are a gardener, this place is like Heaven. They also participate in local farmers markets like Wednesdays Art District Farmers Market and the Jacksonville Beach Green Market on Saturday afternoon which is a great way to purchase some of the plants that they grow at the farm. And the prices are so reasonable @ $2-10! Overall, what a great concept with frequent educational workshops and events hosted right there at the farm. I just want to buy everything Eat Your Yard Jax has available, but lack the space and, most probably, the work ethic. LOL. Thank God they have helpers/employees at his nursery. Zack was our tour guide and super knowledgeable, but Tim is just a plant god and gardening guru. What an amazing place on the westside...

On Saturday, we ventured out into the middle of nowhere to Eat Your Yard, a plant nursery and hippie agricultural landscape. It's a little sketchy driving down the long, narrow dirt path, but once we reached the finish line, we were greeted by one of the workers behind the operation. The greatest aspect of the brand is that they care deeply about their community involvement. They are striving to empower locals to support local agriculture but also practice it sustainably at home. Luckily, our tour guide showed us the entire operation. Everything from various types of spinach to dozens of blue tilapia, to more succulents than one would know what to do with, this place was really freakin' neat. They offer unique workshops and classes and offer tours on the weekends. Eat Your Yard is definitely an educational experience that folks of all ages can benefit from. Check them out if you're itching for a new experience!

Are people sitting side saddle? My daughter is small but put her legs down. Our friend pushed out away from the table. Otherwise, they have long tables-great for groups, high top tables for 2-inside/outside, rockets, cushy lawn chairs by fire pits. So relaxing. Service So friendly, attentive Menu What I love is the changing seasonal menu. If you had the broccoli corn bread-you will love the maycaw cornbread-C and P farm is the largest producer of maycaws in the world-fun fact! It is sweet, dense, corny taste-yum! Served with sweet fresh butter that is air light! We had the lamb sandwich served with a side. I wondered at first glance at the lamb-kind of a lam loaf-not like a gyro, served with mint and something else on the most AMAZING wheat bun!! The sauce-not typical tziziki but really delish. I chose the squash which was sautéed with dill-not my fav but the squash was cooked perfectly. We also had the shrimp and grits-a Jax fav that consistently pleases. Our friend had the chicken with heat sandwich-toasted bun, house pickles/many, slivers of onion, battered chicken breast, with a douse of hot sauce. If you like the heat-this is your sandwich-served with medium sliced fries. Very tasty. There is a separate dessert menu but we were full-satisfied. Re: drinks-house beers, ciders, iced tea-no lemonade, aske for 2 carafes of water as the glasses are on the small size. Note Walk the farm-see the animals, landscape-great walk after or before a meal. Think about wedding or special occasion spot. Summary This is our fav go to place to est esp when headed to the airport-very chill vibe, outstanding food, great service. Love this place!

The website has all tour pricing and options information. Highly recommend, it was such a special experience for me and my family...alpaca cuddles and kisses for my birthday and the cutest souvenir, a handmade stuffed animal made with alpaca hair for my son sooo fluffy!! She's incredibly sweet, welcoming, and knowledgeable--and her passion is impossible to miss. One of my favorite parts was hearing the stories behind the alpacas. Trina jokingly calls herself a "bad farmer" because she tends to take on some of the hardest cases, but that's actually what makes her so special. She goes the extra mile (and then some) to make sure every alpaca is comfortable, cared for, and given exactly what they need. Hearing what some of them have been through and seeing how much love and patience she pours into their care was genuinely inspiring. The experience was educational, personal, and honestly really moving. You don't just visit alpacas--you leave with a deeper appreciation for them and for the kind of dedication it takes to care for animals at this level. I cannot recommend this place enough. If you're considering a private tour, do it. It's unlike anything else around and absolutely worth the visit.

We rode on a hayride out to the corn maze. The corn didn't grown very tall this year so it really wasn't a maze but like a corn field walk.... It was still fun! I ordered the cheese burger and my wife ordered the fish sandwich; both were delicious!!!! Definitely recommend this place for fun fill few hours with the kids/grandkids. Food- This year food was via vendors only, and we definitely missed the boiled peanuts, so that was a disappointment, however we were able to still get corn via vendor and it was very good along with their Arepas and lemonade, so we were satisfied. They also had other vendors- Asian, pierogis, a creamery, coffee, etc. Fun- No larger go karts, so the kids were bummed. They of course had animals, the playground, train, and a few yard games. Missed the giant barrels again this year, but those disappeared a few years back. Still had the target corn, which the kids love. They had the horse rides, but we didn't make it in time. Corn Maze- GREAT this year. Thick, lush, and tall- could easily get lost and we were turned in circles a few times...kids and adults had fun. Overall- We had good food and fun, and always love the way this farm gives back to their community- so 100% worth it. Even purchased a few pumpkins on the way out. Don't Miss Charlie the farm dog...he pops up across the farm, even in the maze. Included a few pics...

Two trees were in small containers and they have done wonderfully well after planting! However, the two larger trees have struggled for three years and one of the trees is slowly falling to pieces. The one that is clearly going to die had a cut main root when it was planted. I was told by the staff that it would live if it survived the year. It survived but is not going to be here by next year. The other large tree is struggling but might make it. I've recently read that when planting trees from containers you must unroll the root ball. I know this wasn't done and I suspect it is the main problem. The dying tree can easily be rocked back and forth and could probably be pushed over. The roots have not spread out. I've used other Shaw service with good results but I don't think I will in the future.
