I got a dish at one of the restaurants. It's kind of like a dressed up Arancini. The arborio rice inside the dish literally tasted like it was sitting in a bath of white wine really sad considering that if somebody was an alcoholic and they had that dish, they would have a serious problem. Came to Eataly Yorkville to shop for some handpicked Italian extra virgin olive oil at this megastore. Eataly Yorkville Market has the largest variety of single-estate olive oils imported from traditional farms. Eataly's bakery had a number of different types of foccacia. I was looking for something different from the classic rosemary and sea salt flavours. The Focaccia Barese appealed to me with its extra virgin olive oil, olives, tomato and sea salt. Excellent quality and taste. Downstairs at Il Gran Caffè, modelled after cafés and bars of Italy, Il Gran Caffè Illy serves traditional and speciality coffees made with Illy espresso and has a variety of cakes, pastries and croissants (pasticcini and cornetti). Upstairs I browsed the shelves for some whole San Marzano tomatoes to add to my home pantry. Around the pizza corner was what appealed to me, I DOLCI, Italian candies, sweets and chocolates. The confectionery product displays inside the store are mesmerizing. Of course shopping turned into lingering for a couple of drinks at the upstairs espresso bar. The background music made it feel like a sleek lounge. Caffè Vergnano's standing bar has marvellous cappuccinos. The crema on the cappuccino was perfect. Water temperature was just right. Pairing the cappuccino with 3 authentic Sicilian cannoli - pistachio cannoli, cow's milk ricotta* cannoli and sheep's milk ricotta cannoli - for dessert. The sheep's milk ricotta cannoli was sweeter than I thought it would be, making it a counterpoint to the strong cappuccino flavour. I learned that sheep's milk ricotta is most highly sought after in Sicily. It's sweeter and creamier than the cow's milk ricotta and is prized by Sicilians. Went here for a team lunch with my colleagues and it was great! The place is huge like this cool circular setup that feels open and fun for groups. Took me a sec to find the restaurant (signage could be better lol), but it's ok No complaints. I ordered a beer, the bolognese (so hearty and flavorful, pasta on point), and this pistachio dessert I can't remember the name of but it was amazing, creamy with those crunchy bits, totally loved it. I love this Eataly! I stopped by Pizza alla Pala and tried a few different slices - mushroom, amatriciana, and margherita. My favorite was definitely the mushroom, but the parmesan on the amatriciana made that one super flavorful too. The crust was just right, crunchy without being too tough, so still really enjoyable to eat. Plenty of seating and fast service, which made the experience even better. After eating, I loved walking around and browsing all the products. Ended up picking up some pesto sauce to cook pasta at home, couldn't resist! Overall, a great visit. So many good choices in this place - pasta with fresh made noodles, make your own panini, Italian pizza slices, ready to go and ready to cook packed food, coffee, gelato, pastries, wine.... Service varies per stall but generally service is quick. It's inside a grocery so expect a lot of foot traffic and cheaters but the common dining area is clean, good lighting, view of the street and building next door. The ambiance at Eataly is very nice and is a mix of sit down dining and grab and go. The restaurant is a bit hard to find but overall a nice space. I ordered the margarita pizza the first time I went and it was decent for the price. Unfortunately the carbonara wasn't my favourite and I would stick with their pizzas going forward. read more

Lunch here was a treat! We ordered a lunch set (includes an appetiser and a pasta of yr choice) & a pizza. The Crispy Arborio Rice appetizer is a must-try - an unexpected burst of flavor and texture. The pasta was also a winner, with a delicious, non-pesto, vegetable-forward sauce. The pizza was freshly made with mozzarella cheese mushrooms and sweet Italian sausage (which was chopped small, like minced pork) on top. It tasted best when hot, and the crust was perfectly crispy and chewy, and could have been perfect with slightly more ingredients on top. Got two slices of pizza from the pizza "take-out" area of Eataly. I was excited to try the the slice with the whole fior de latte on it. The cheese was really good, soft and creamy in the inside with a chewy exterior. However, the crust was not for me. It was way to chewy to a point I find it tough. There was no way you can eat it with plastic utensils. It resulted in me tugging and tearing at the crust with my teeth. Not sure if that's suppose to be typical of Romano style pizza....but definitely won't recommend getting it on your first date. The prosciutto with fresh mozzarella was a nice flavour combo. Me and my partner went here for the two-course meal special. We got an appetizer and mains course for at $25 per person. For apps I ordered this deep fried cacio Pepe and it was the first time I've ever tried this dish. I quite liked it! I think the portion was just right though because any more and it would be too heavy for me For my main course I got the gnocchi which is my tried and true go to order any time I'm at an Italian restaurant. It was also pretty good! The sauce was delicious and tart and went well with the burrata. The service was excellent at early but that's to be expected. Eataly had been in my bookmarks for a long time and I had finally stopped by as I was in the area. It seems the hype has died down. Although the store was busy, there was no long lineups and it as generally not that crowded surprisingly for a weekend afternoon. This location has three levels, and going underground from Bay station it was very confusing on how to access the store. I ended going up on the street level and accessing the store from there, where there is an escalator to bring you up to the top floor where all the grocery and food court are. I did some shopping and picked up San Pellegrino flavours I had not seen before, some dry pasta shapes I never seen, and of course picked up a can of pricey truffle sauce. Tried these and they were good but honestly the truffle sauce in a can was not worth the price. It smelled like truffle but lacked any taste of it and tasted just like a very salty mushroom sauce. We also browsed the hot foods area and desserts. We decided to try the fresh pizza slices. We shared a funghi pizza which the staff heated up for us as we were dining in. Also, got the focaccia which was already packaged. This did not get heated up. The funghi pizza was packed with mushrooms and cheese. So delicious! The focaccia though was dangerously addicting. Despite it being at room temperature, the bread was so soft, fresh and flavourful. It was a bit tough to find a good seat as there were some tables with dirty dishes left on them (people had left them behind instead of cleaning up after themselves and stacking them near where the garbage is). We ended up sitting on a bench by the window with a small seat in front of us which we repurposed as a mini table for our food. I would be open to trying the restaurants or other food items here (was eyeing the desserts like gelato). I would be more enticed to go if there are any specials as the prices can be a little steep. read more

We had heard a lot about this place therefore, we decided to finally give it a try since we were in the area. Overall, this place is definitely a dream when it comes to Italian products however, be prepared to spend, as the prices are much higher than anywhere else. With that being said, there are definitely items that you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere, as they are imported directly from Italy. We decided to have lunch here at around 12:30 pm on a Thursday afternoon. It was busy however, we were able to get a table quickly. Upon sitting, we were given menus by our server, whom didn't introduce herself to us however, was pleasant during our time. I had settled on the margarita pizza, and had wanted a basket of bread to start off however, was told that this bread was $5.00; a bit pricey for something that usually comes free elsewhere. The pizza itself was good however, it was a bit too oily, making it difficult to eat as the toppings kept sliding off. Also, the crust was a bit too thin as well, which didn't fill me up as much as I would have liked. The other guests in our party had the pasta, which I was told was delicious. Having been to Italy and had their gelatos from different regions. I can say that Eataly serves one of the best gelatos in Toronto that resembled the flavours I tasted in Italy. My favourite flavours are their pistachio, mango and chocolate. This time we tried the affogato which came with 2 scoops of gelato of your choice. We also had the mango and pistachio in a cup. The flavours are on point yet they melted pretty quickly. Note that the expresso pour over was from a small red capsule machine behind the counter and not from an expresso machine from the cafe. It was still delicious with the gelato. The presentation could have been more attractive than being served in a plastic cup. Just like any Eataly North America locations (I've been to Eataly NYC, Boston & Chicago) this place is overpriced, overrated and the atmosphere and food is not even worth a visit! At first glance you will see an impressive selection of artisanal olive oil, pasta, tomato sauce and truffle oil. Only to realize later on that grocery products here are extremely expensive and can easily be found at a typical Italian grocery store for half the price. As you make your way to the various food offerings be prepared to be disappointed. Underwhelming, underbaked, greasy and oily pizza seems to be the recurring trend for the 3 pizzas we ordered at Pizza Alla Pala. You would think that for a place whose main goal is to provide high quality Italian food and products, they would at least make a decent tasting pizza. Be also wary when paying cash as some staff from Caffe Vergnano will try to shortchanged you if you're not being attentive. I tried giving twenty one dollars and some change for an eleven dollars amount owing and cashier didn't gave me my change until I called her out. Overall this place is really built for tourists, not for locals living/working in the area. And with Toronto being spoilt for authentic and good quality Italian restaurants, it is better to go to these places for better ambiance and price point. read more

Worst experience ever. Arrived 11.45am on Wed July 23 and was told server doesn't report in till noon. We waited and were then seated. No sign of server and manager finally came to take our order. When server arrived, she came to see if we needed anything, I asked for more water and she said the bottle on our table is not finished yet. We have 6 people and only a little water left. Is this even a question to ask? When we asked for the bill, we were looking for an option to pay different amount on tip but wasn't given an option and server said you have "6" people and must pay 20%. I have no issues paying when I received the service I expected. But in this case, sorry, there was no service to warrant the 20% and served definitely had attitude issues. On a weekday evening around 7pm, we came here to try their well-reputed pizza at La Pizza e La Pasta inside Eataly. We got our pizzas "to-go" to enjoy them in a hotel room 3 mins away from there. I wanted to try BURRATA PICCANTE but it was sold out in front of me!!! :( So, we got : # BUFALOTTA # COTTO E FUNGHI The Bufalotta had fresh cheese, tomato and basil. The ingredients were generously arranged on the baked pizza dough. The Cotto e Funghi was very flavorful. It used good quality Mozzarella and Prosciutto Cotto Reggiano, and extra virgin olive oil with generous amount of delicately aromatic mushrooms and basil leaves. However - I was disappointed by their crust. They were too hard to chew. The crust is the most important part as it holds all these quality ingredients. Unfortunate... When we were in the line for our order, I saw a few eat-in customers who returned their pizzas for better crust. The store was willing to take their pizzas back to offer new ones. I like Italian food, but I feel it's mostly overpriced so I tend to avoid it unless it's cheap/free or homemade. Browsing around Eataly is always a positive experience - the way the 2nd floor is laid out is like an Ikea for Italian food & equipment. I want to buy everything. Everything looks well prepared and made and worth its price. In their produce section, they also have pantry and fridge items focusing on local businesses, which I loved seeing. During this visit, I purchased a Fragola (Strawberry) Sorbetto in a small sugar cone, ~$7ish. The sorbet was smooth, creamy, and sweet, slowly melting with every bite taken. I wish it were a little less sweet, but understandable that it may be required to keep that texture and consistency. Also got a slice of funghi pizza for ~$11. It was covered in slices of mushrooms and cheese. I felt the dough could've been more easy to chew through. The slice was big, but not sure if it was worth its price... It was very busy during my visit ~6PM (Sunday), so all staff were preoccupied in maintaining store standards or serving guests. Thankfully didn't need assistance so that didn't matter much for me. Had a great lunch at Eataly last week... Service is great and the restaurant wasn't too chaotic at 3pm. We had focaccia to start, two pastas, a pizza, and a tiramisu. The pasta was fabulous (it was a simple spaghetti and the sauce was divine). The focaccia was disappointingly dry and stale. Such a cute little area to stroll around. So many Italian goodies and varieties. There is a decent-sized grocery store and the upper level makes a big loop. You can get baked goods from the bakery, sweet treats from the chocolate shop or if you go right across there is delicious gelato. If you keep walking in, there is a dine-in with a nice view of bloor and Yonge. Food was a little pricey but delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Area is clean with a nice ambiance. It's a curated version of things from that country so not everything is here but it's a solid ground to start from. I enjoy it here. Customer service is generally good but can be off and on. I can't say the pasta is better here than at the amazing Italian restaurants I have been to in Toronto. I find the standouts are in the baked goods and the selections of olive oils and the small choices in the grocery isle. It's a great place to kill time. Great two-story Italian market for all your grocery needs and for a coffee or meal. The lower floor is the cafe with a decent amount of seating and the upstairs is the actual market with a section for fresh produce, meat, seafood, pasta, pantry items, bakery, dessert and more. there's also a number of restaurants upstairs as well as food counters where you order and find a seat. we ultimately picked their pizza counter to try where they sell "roman style pizza" using a thicker focaccia like dough but it's pre-cut rather than cut with scissors and measured by weight. we got the slice of "salsiccia e cipolle" which came with pork fennel sausage, beer braised onions, housemade mozzarella provolone and pecorino. Really delicious, especially the beer braised onions and a great crust. I only wish they heat it up for longer since our slice was just slightly warm. it's quite packed inside and can be difficult to find a seat. prices are on the higher end but of good quality. worth a visit! read more

Came here on a gloomy Monday morning. And it was perfect. We were staying at the hotel close by and while we were trying to find a place to eat breakfast and we found Eataly! We were gonna take out our food but it started drizzling so we ended up just finding a table inside and ate our food there. It's very nice and clean. They also have a bathroom inside, so very convenient. We didn't know what to order, so it took us a little long to choose. They have many options for their pastries/breads. We got: * Salmone -- it was good but not something that I'd come back for. It was small for its price. * Cotto e uova -- my dad got this one, he really like this. It's similar to pizza but with an egg! * Panino Napoletano -- husband got this one and he said it was good. He was gonna get two but we had lunch plans already. * Saccottino Venchi -- it's basically a hazelnut chocolate croissant, my mom got this one. I'm sure she loved this as we're both obsessed with chocolates! We also ordered drinks but nothing special. Our cups weren't even full, I'd understand for coffees, room for the milk right? But I got a cafe mocha and hubby got a cold brew and the drinks didn't fill up the cup. Overall, I do like the convenience of this place as it was just walking distance from our hotel. I came here to try cannolis for the first time ever. This place is huge on the inside. I found the cannoli station and purchased my cannolis. I walked around Eataly to check out what it had to offer. I was amazed by what was all available. There was a restaurant, a place to purchase pizza, a fresh pasta market, fresh vegetables, non perishables, snacks, and fresh meat among many other products. It felt like all of Italy was brought to Eataly to eat. I wanted to go shopping, but I didn't have a place to cook anything. I tried the cannolis the next day. I didn't enjoy them as much as I wanted. Maybe I should have eaten them the same day. I expected the shell to be firm and crunchy with a sweet delicious filling, but the cannoli was neither. Not sure if these were great cannolis that I just didn't like or if the cannolis were just truly not good. I will have to try a cannoli again at a great Italian spot. read more

Upon coming here a second time, I realized that all the products and food selection here are top notch and very high quality. They carry a lot of imported products from Italy, including multiple aisles of pasta and sauces. Many are unique and not easily found anywhere else, such as dried pasta infused with white truffle, basil and garlic pasta, and colourful pasta made using natural ingredients such as spinach, basil, beets, chili, and pumpkin. Unique pasta sauces that I saw include yellow pumpkin pesto sauce and porcini mushrooms & tomato pasta sauce. They seem to have a lot of products that contain truffles, including organic white truffle potato chips! Eataly is made up of the main grocery store section (on the second floor), a few different restaurants (mostly scattered around the perimeter of the second floor, and integrated with the supermarket itself), cafe / bakery with lots of tables on the main / ground floor, and an independent ale house selling craft beer in the basement. The cafe / bakery on the first floor is always packed, and they have a variety of very good-looking freshly made bread, sandwiches, salads, pastries, and cakes (to go along with your choice of coffee, espresso, or tea). If you go straight (past the row of food selection and section where you order) and turn left, there is more seating area with extra tables. The second floor is the heartbeat of Eataly. There are numerous sections from fresh produce (which carries very high quality and fresh fruits and vegetables, including cherry tomatoes still on the vines, heirloom tomatoes, and other seasonal produce), bakery, and fishmonger / fish market (with a fish & seafood-based restaurant, La Pescheria, at the back), to the classic Italian desserts (gelato, cannoli, panettone), pastries, fresh pasta (made fresh by hand), cheese, and wine. There is a large selection of cheeses, including giant cheese wheels (that are too heavy to lift off of the shelves). There are also dairy and dairy-free milk and yogurts available. In addition, there are lots of ready-made and grab-and-go food items, including salads (they're all really good and yummy, such as fresh green salad with charred broccoli & cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, roasted squash, mixed beans, fennel, and lemon dressing), sandwiches, and side dishes to take home. The pizza section is very popular, selling Roman-style pizza that's freshly made and baked in the oven. (What makes Roman-style pizza different is the dough. Unlike Neapolitan pizza dough, which contains just flour, water, sea salt, and yeast, Roman-style dough is made with olive oil for a richer and more pliable dough that becomes extra-crispy as it bakes.) There are seats and standing spaces scattered throughout the supermarket, where you can sit down and grab a bite (or sip a drink) while shopping. Overall, great selection of high-quality products and fresh produce, and everything you'd need to whip up delicious Italian dishes. It's a great place for a casual dine-out meal as well. Second restaurant review. For anyone who isnt aware Eataly Yorkville has 3 restaurants, a cafe, two dessert cafes and a pizza bar. It also is a grocery store, runs classes and a wine shop. I usually go to one restaurant due to it being the cheapest. However yesterday I went to the other pizza and pasta restaurant. This one was a little more pricey - with the same $50 spend I was definitely not full. The pizza was better than I thought it would be. The crust was thin and fluffy. Pizza was definitely smaller than the other one and the flavour wasnt as good in my opinion. But the crust saved the day for me. On the menu they also had salmon crudo which I absolutely love to try. It was very disappointing to be honest. The salmon crudo at piano piano was infinitely better. The point of salmon crudo is ti highlight the fish, however in this dish the lemon flavour and olive oil actually stole the spotlight. In this case youd rather buy the bread for a quarter of the price if you wanted to highlight the olive oil. The service was good - no complaints. And the ambiance was also good. More decorations compared to the other restaurant and some chairs had a white fluffy thing draped across it as well. I may go back for the pizza and to try the pasta however with the higher price point I do still prefer the other restaurant. read more

Eataly is aesthetically beautiful and is always hustling and bustling. I find the restaurant food (at least the pizza) to only be "just okay" (2-3/5). But they do have a wide range of ingredients if you're planning on cooking a special meal at home. Their items are on the pricier end so it's not a place I'd want to shop regularly at. I always like to stroll through when I'm in the area. I would like to sit down and enjoy some take out but it's difficult to find seating. We eat at La pizza La pasta the decoration is totally traditional Italian style with the perfect music to accompany your entire time at Eataly while you enjoy what you order, the front desk take us very fast to our seat not line to wait and the waiter take the order is very friendly. Everything was cooked at perfect combination of ingredients, I order meatballs same like all Italian restaurante I go, but this one is unique is so delicious the best I try. It was a little hard to find when I got there. There are so many options! I highly recommend making a reservation. The booths are small. They were four of us and we were squished in. If you have more than two people I would recommend getting a regular table. Good portions and the food was great! They only had one dessert though. Outside of this restaurant there are many dessert options, but nothing appealing to get while you're there. The service was fine until dinner arrived..then we never saw them again.
