It was a nice peaceful walk on a flat path that was graveled and wide enough for many people to pass by each other without touching the foliage at the side of the path. There are many little offshoots towards the ponds that have a bench to sit on and watch and wile away the hours , if you choose. The pond lilies are plentiful and beautiful pink color many of which are blooming right now and the end of July. If you are looking for a vigorous hike, this is not the place.This place has flat paths that wind through the woods and around ponds and are very peaceful and quiet. In the early mornings, you can see beavers hard at work.You can see dear browsing for food.There are many birds singing happily in the trees, as well as ducks , geese and turtles in the ponds.

Riverwalk is the bicycle path that runs along the Buffalo waterfront from just near Canalside, at…read morethe corner of Lakefront and Erie Street. It continues all the way to Vulcan Street at the border, where the path continues as the same name, maintained by The City of Tonawanda. It is part of both the Erie Canal bike path network as well as the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Network and Niagara Greenway network of bike paths. It's a well designed path, rolling along Buffalo's waterfront with gorgeous views of the lake and the river. It is, however, in need of some serious love: The striping on the path is long faded (It looks like it was originally designed to be a multi-use trail, with a pedestrian lane and two bike lanes.) The path itself has become narrowed over the years, and there are a lot of bumps and potholes. Luckily, there seem to be volunteer people out there that have spraypainted some of the most dangerous areas as warning. It really really needs to have some graffiti removal done, particularly along Unity Island. It links a ton of parks along the Buffalo waterfront, everything from Canalside to LaSalle, Broderick (especially now that the bridge is open again!) to Unity Island, Black Rock Canal Park and then up to Riverside park. There is a link to the Scajaquada Bike Path by the Army Corps of Engineers at Niagara Street and the the entrance to Unity Island Park. The section further up is a little better maintained, and the parts that go through some of the newer parks (such as Black Rock Canal Park) have been recently redone and are quite nice.) It's a great bike path to explore, by bike, roller blade, or just walking. Hopefully with the restoration of the link between Unity Island and downtown with the bridge reopening, the city will give it some much needed TLC.

You walk into an apple orchard if you take a certain trail. They have a boy scout display that is partly still around, but seems like some of it has since been destroyed. There is a nice, clean restroom building as well as pavilions for rental and a pond for fishing. Semi-recently a disc golf course was added, which I'm not a fan of because they cut down a decent amount of the front part of woods and it takes away from the experience in nature. But, I suppose it's a good way to bring more people to the park. The hiking trails can be a bit rooty, rocky and muddy in parts, so best to pay attention to your footing. I don't mind it because it makes the hike more challenging. There are up and down hills as well as a suspension bridge. The trails are marked with different colors. I also like that it's not easy to get lost here since I have a pretty bad sense of direction. Also, I've seen birds, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and snakes here. Whether you want to have a picnic by the pond, get a good hike in or both, Royalton Ravine is a nice setting for it!
