I thought "a good deep cleaning of our home is just what I need right now." And it is always nice to try out a service/restaurant/etc. with a discount deal. Many businesses over the years have gotten repeat business from me because they treated me with kindness and respect when I tried them out at a discount. Before purchasing the deal, I emailed HomeTaskforce to ask a few questions. Based on the outstanding customer service from the get-go, I purchased the Gilt City deal and made my appointment. The owner, Mike, fielded all my silly questions about 1st time home cleaning, and put me at ease about trying a new company out. I never try anything that doesn't have a few Yelp reviews. But Mike sounded like a good guy with a great business model. I made the appointment, and Mike continued to answer my follow up questions up until the date of the cleaning. He is seriously so nice. I was home to let them in day of, and go over a few things. You fill out a detailed questionnaire when you set up your appointment, so Mike had explained to me that my notes were pretty detailed for the crew, so I didn't have to go over much. Vilma and Jasmine were on time, and so pleasant to be around. They worked around me being home part of the time, and were very hard-working and thorough. They brought all their own supplies and equipment, and of course I told them to use whatever they needed of my cleaning supplies too. I had to leave for work before they were finished, so I left a key for them to hide when they left, and I left cash tips and a "thank you" post-it by the key. Before leaving, I had already noticed how white the tub was, and how clean the windows looked. While I was at work, my boyfriend arrived home and texted me how great the place looked. I couldn't wait to get home and see the finished product. He was right - our house looks and feels fabulous! It was so needed. I have been so busy, and had slacked on keeping up with things other than the normal surface cleaning of everyday items. Now after the deep cleaning, I feel like it will be easier to keep things clean. and who doesn't love how their home feels after a good spring cleaning? I am looking forward to being a regular customer of HomeTaskforce every 4-6 weeks for normal cleanings. I never thought I would be a person who would hire cleaners, but it is nice to know there is reputable help when life gets busy. Or, help when you just want to spend your weekend enjoying loved ones instead of scrubbing the bathtub and the stove all weekend. Thank you Mike, Vilma and Jasmine! For a new-ish company in the Chicago area, you impressed me from the start with customer service. And the follow-through with our home was outstanding. You guys took care of everything I asked about. I purchased a 4-6 hour Deep Cleaning for my 746 sq ft apartment. The job should not have taken very…read morelong since we had already moved out and there was no furniture left, but my wife and I wanted to be safe so we went with the more thorough option.The cleaning lady could not find our place (even though we live in the Loop) and drove around for 100+ minutes before she contacted HomeTaskforce's office. They did not call me until 2 hours after the scheduled booking and did not leave a voicemail nor return my phone call. When she finally arrived, she was over 2 hours late and rushed through the job. The carpet looked like it was not vacuumed, the microwave looked like it was not cleaned at all, and the overall feel looked like the job had been rushed. My wife and I had to spend an hour cleaning to finish the job. I complained and the founder (Mike) apologized, explained that the cleaning professional was late, but only offered 1 hour of free cleaning credit. This is unsatisfactory and somewhat insulting considering we had paid for 4-6 hours and only received about 2.5 hours cleaning. Shouldn't we have at least received 1.5-3.5 hours in compensation? HomeTaskForce advertises itself as a better alternative to other cleaning companies in Chicago, but from our experience, it was very disappointing and we have received just as good if not better services elsewhere and for much cheaper.

My fiance and I had to take off work and instead of sending a team exclusively for our unit of the building, the same guys did work throughout the building making it take longer to do work in our unit. Instead of trying to minimize the time we would need to take off work, they extended it to numerous days. Here's an example about the billing and how they lie; they left us small and medium boxes as clearly indicated on them but charged us medium and large prices at huge marked up prices over what you could get them anywhere else. They also said they wouldn't make special trips just to deliver boxes which is understandable. They said they would leave them on days they would already be doing work in our building. Yet when we got the invoice, they charged us four hours for delivery of boxes at $45.15/hr! $45.15 an hour to deliver boxes when they said they wouldn't deliver them unless they were already coming. They tried to add (often falsely) to the bill to either insurance company. Their work was shoddy and they left light fixtures hanging as well as exposed wiring. Do not hire this company.

Then there's the issue of their wives/husbands and children. Who will take care of them while they're taking care of me? Not to mention I'm extremely out of shape, and I would probably break myself trying to carry a box of pillows up the stairs. I think I'm at the point where I need to hire professionals. I went against better judgement and called a mover who wasn't the #1 recommended moving company among my peers, mostly because their estimate was lower and I happen to be poor. I'm glad I did. It was a short move, just a few miles down Montrose. It couldn't have gone better. I had to reschedule my move and they had no problem with that. They called me the day before to ask if I wanted to change my move time earlier since they had a cancellation and I gladly agreed. I asked them to come between 9 and 10am and they came at exactly 9:00 and started on the job immediately. Three of them carried down all my stuff in two hours, and unloaded into my new place in an hour and a half. Mind you, this was a 3rd floor to 3rd floor move, so I can imagine how awful it was. So for anyone out there needing to move, skip the beer and pizza. These guys will make life so much easier.

Lastly, I would recommend filing with the Better Business Bureau, if this company takes down your Yelp review. Since they forgot to pick us up, I've noticed several bad reviews taken down for "violating terms and conditions".

I dropped a pair of jeans off and a dress 3 weeks ago for alterations. He told me it would be ready…read morethe following Friday. However I was out of town for a work event so I was not able to retrieve the items until the following Thursday. I went for pick up and the owner apologized and told me that it was still at the alterations place an hour away and that he would bring it in tomorrow. (A week after it was supposed to be finished). He also insisted that these items would be free of charge because of his mistake and the inconsistency. Mind you, I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and a flight that leaves at 5 am. so I told him that I cannot wait until tomorrow, and the fact that it's over a week late is not my problem but his. I offered to pick it up and he said no, he would bring it to the shop. Well I get there to pick it up from the cleaners and he proceeds to tell me that it will be 88$. How? When you were late and you just said it was free. Meanwhile I told him that was ridiculous and he charged me 60$, only for me to try it on at home and see the end result (see photos attached) . I went back and showed him, he gave me a refund. But moral of the story, I went through hell and back for jeans I can't even fit anymore since they took the butt in and all I needed was the waist. My 15 year old air conditioner went out in my condo. Air conditioners are on roof. Juan , service…read moreman, diagnosed problem pretty quickly and ordered parts. Unfortunately it was on a weekend so parts wouldn't come in until Monday. Office told me they would install on Tuesday. By 2:30 pm ac was repaired and my condo was cooling down. Juan was very professional. It only took him a little over an hour (was paying by hour) to replace parts. Also, office staff was great. There was a small issue with delivery of parts to them, but they took care of the problem quickly and professionally. The condo management uses S & D for different repairs and maintenance and are also happy with their work. I highly recommend!

Get everything in writing from him and do not trust a word he says. At first he seems to be very kind but once you sign, he will make different claims about the work to be done and the price. Please check with the better business bureau BBB before deciding to sign a contract with this company. Call the BBB. "The BBB has made several attempts to contact the business regarding the above referenced complaint. They regret to inform that we have not received a written response from the company. They did not address my concerns directly but rather just submitted the bill for the additional money they are seeking.
