The cuts look nice and the service was good but there's mold on the meat... I don't recommend this place

Bought a coupon from LivingSocial and Groupon for four meals. Came all the way from Portland and sister from Molalla and we were ALL disappointed at the sandwiches. We got there at 3:30pm and nowhere on Ebner's site does it say it closes down at 4:00pm? The girls said she had shut down the griddle so we had to make a quick decision on what to order. Sister and I got the small french dips, and my sister said she received more meat than my two pieces, plus the girl had BURNT my hard bun!!! She served it to me?? I also bought the potato salad which was not tasty. My husband and brother-in-law received little meat in their sandwiches. I guess we hit the bad day to try this place. NOT IMPRESSED!! I also took the time to buy and try some of their beef. They had two items that had something sprinkled on them and the other was rolled up with ?? in the middle. Asked the kid who said HE WAS NOT THERE WHEN THEY FIXED THEM SO HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS ON AND IN THEM??? GREAT SELLERS THEY ARE NOT! Half of the meat HAD NO SIGNS WHAT THEY WERE AND THE COST. Meat tasted fine, but will not travel clear out there for their food or meat. The pictures they show of the food we NEVER saw or RECEIVED. The coupons were a waste of money. Bathroom looked clean but they had NO SEAT CUSHIONS for the toilet. Wrote a review and owner contacted me by email claiming he wanted to talk to me, but unfortunately he was NEVER available and did not bother to try harder to contact me again. Never got to try the food, won't be going back because of the terrible customer service we received. After reading the comments below can't say I'm surprised to hear of mold and hairs in sandwiches. My mom bought a Groupon while she was in town and after being treated like trash by clerks I told her to try to get it refunded. Never been treated so poorly for just asking questions. read more

Do not, I repeat, do not order a salad. It was iceberg lettuce, mushy tomatoes and transparent cucumbers. There were about three small bites of turkey thrown on top. People in my party who ordered sandwiches said they were just ok. They were out of macaroni salad and one person's sandwich was missing all the extras that had been ordered. Service was SLOW! The one person working was understandably stressed but was also abrupt and not hiding the fact that she wasn't having a very good time. I do not recommend this business. read more

Wow! We drove from Portland Today to check it out, being meat people we love a good butcher! WOW! We had a great time.. The staff was kind and attentive, The CLAM CHOWDER WAS TO DIE FOR! The kids had some well priced sandwiches and fruit snacks.. They were kind to my kids who are usually very loud! Scott was very welcoming and we had a good conversation about his family with my family, its always nice to know your in a family business! Now to the meat! HOLY COW! my wife just told me she has not had pastrami this good in YEARS and certainly not since she was in NY The beef jerky is WONDERFUL! Tender and juicy! We got a great deal on a HUGE chuck roast.. All the meat is locally sourced and grassfed.. Even with the traffic today to get there it was well worth it! We will be back! Thanks everyone! read more

I have been going to Ebner's long before it was Ebner's I have to say that "Mike" & his team have done some crazy awesome shit with everything I have ever taken them. From my Beef, to my Pork. These guys are off the hook!!! No SHIT!! Look at my other reviews and you will see I am pretty hard on a lot of people that aren't perfect. This is a local company owner & OPERATED by a local guy that knows how to do it right. Quality is at the top of his list. If I want it done right, go there, it has never been wrong. Absolutely incredible experience! We were served by Mike Ebner and it's been awhile since we have been treated as well as we were during this visit. We had been to Ebner's before and knew how great the sandwiches were. I had a turkey and ham on sourdough. The meat was piled high and did not disappoint. My wife had a french dip sandwich. Once again, the meat was piled high and cooked perfectly with just a little pink and the roll was fresh and toasted perfectly. We also ordered the stroganoff soup which was the Thursday special soup. It was excellent. We had a groupon and the total of the order exceeded the groupon value but Mike said it was close enough. (Who does that?) The service and hospitality were exceptional. Mike checked on us several times to make sure our needs were taken care of. It's too bad we live in Vancouver and can't visit more often. This place is a gem! read more

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING French dip sandwich!!!!!!!!!!!!! Behind the meat market (accessible from within the meat market itself) is the small restaurant. They serve a limited menu that features the meats sold in the market itself. Kennon, whom manages the restaurant, made us the most meaty, delicious, French dip I've ever had! I have to say that the food was just okay but the overall environment and personality given off by these guys and how they busted their asses to get food out fast - they are AMAZING! Ebner's is the real deal. I bought a Tenderloin for our Family Christmas Eve Party. It was beautifully trimmed and fed 26 people beautifully. It was huge. I got texts from our guests the next day saying it was the best beef they have ever had. Don't forget to try the smoked cheddar - never have tasted anything like it!. Quality meats at a traditional butcher shop produced and run by a local family. You can't get better than that. I also vouch for the ground beef. It tastes like beef unlike what you get at the grocery stores.....no matter what grade you buy. read more

The level of service from the woman cook in the deli made my 1st visit just horrid, simply because the cook/server was miserable and took out her bad mood on my friend and I. Asking for mayo for the sandwich (when it was ordered but not put on) was a huge inconvenience for her. She made it clear to us, that she was put out. She scowled when we asked for a cup for water. I have been trying to do business with Ebners for several years now, but no matter how hard I try something always goes wrong. The last two summers I have made an effort to purchase my bbq meats from them. Things like brisket, spare ribs, and bone in pork butts. Virtually every time I walked thru the door they failed to have the product I was looking for. In some instances I had actually called them in advance and was told "no problem we've always got those". After a number of failed attempts I finally gave up. On Wednesday December 2nd I called them to order a variety freezer pack that is listed on their website, and I was told that they needed 24 hours to complete the order. I told the lady on the phone that I would come in on Saturday to pick it up. I went in early this afternoon and told them why I was there. The young man went to the back and returned several minutes later telling me that my order didn't get taken care of and that he would fill it for me. I told him not to bother that I would spend my money someplace that wanted it. It is truly unbelievable that a small town butcher shop has absolutely no understanding of what customer service should look like. Every consumer has options and I for one want to spend my money where they at least make and effort to earn it. read more

Warning! Very pricey on their game preceding!!! They charge $70 just to handle the meat. I took in a small elk but got back a big bill when it was done. The total charge for 50lbs of processed game was $232. I know it depends on what you get. But 20lbs was just hamburger. I will not be taking my meat there again. For what they charge I could have bought the equipment and did it my self and had the stuff for next time. This was the first time I had meat processed here (recommend by a friend). I have yet to try the meat. But for that price I expect it to chew it self and it better be the most fantastic thing I have ever eaten. I just could have bought the meat out of there store or any store for the prices they charge. I guess it was partly my mistake asking my wife to take it in and not get an estimate of the cost. This place is so old-school it's almost new again. As the local, whole-animal butchery movement spreads around Portland, this place appears to have been practicing that ethos for years. It's really 2 separate places -- the butcher counter (which is ok), and the sandwich shop. Sandwich shop is not bad for a little town like Canby. Sure beats a Subway or Quizno's any day. Unfortunately, the eating area is in the dark part of the building with no natural light and they don't use real silverware/plates. read more

I wanted to post this right away so that I wouldn't forget. Just had the most wonderful experience with Ebner's! In preparation for a holiday party I needed to find a place to get a whole Prime Rib. I emailed Ebner's to order one and had a very quick response! As this was my first Prime Rib ever, I asked for help with how much to buy to feed a party the size of ours and was given plenty of help in deciding how much I needed. Today when I went into pick up my PR the staff was WONDERFUL! (I had my two little one's in tow, and they were treated quite well too!) Ebner's cut the size of PR I needed, and even offered to "season" it for me with the most delightful smelling rub! I can't wait to cook this beautiful looking piece of meat and I'm anxious to go back and try their deli as well... which I'm planning on doing sometime next week! THANKS EBNERS!! read more

I felt I'm being kinda generous even giving one star. First, the quality of the meat was quite good the the two stars was mainly for that. The quantity in every case was disappointing especially for the price of the sandwiches. I ordered a club sandwich with two slices of meat. It included only 1/4 lb of meat and some cheese for $8.95 I thought it would of at least come with some chips but that would of cost me another $2.75 ( chips and drink), never would this combo be worth almost $12. My husband's chicken wrap was the most disappointing as if was mainly the wrap as it had very little chicken and lettuce. A Reuben was also ordered and it was over grilled and, once again, contained very little inside. The counter person was nice but service was very slow even though we were the only customers. This was the first time we have been here and sorry to say the last. read more

I would like to say how great the service was. They had a booth in front of there store for a car show that was going on. I was with my two boys. Having only 12 dollars in cash I ordered three hot dogs and three sodas. After I ordered the lady said they ran out of hot dogs and would I mind if one of them was a sausage dog. I told her no problem as long as it doesn't go over 12 dollars. She replied no additional charge. Then to add to the service my youngest son dropped his hot dog no more then having it for 30 seconds. Without a questions she ask if a sausage dog would be ok as a replacement for free. Thank you again for the service. Your company will always be on my list. read more

We finally tried Ebner's Deli after years of just going to the butcher block... WOW, we were pleasantly surprised. I had a turkey sandwich and some amazing potato salad. The kids had BLT's, one a wrap, one a sandwich. The bacon was amazing... Service was friendly with good quality meats and cheeses. We also love the meat counter at Ebner's. They are knowledgeable and have good quality meats... They will even do their own special seasonings for you... We ordered a tri tip for Saturday and the meat quality was fantastic! Unsanitary. With bare hands, this lady was touching her kids' hair, handling money, licking her fingers (to grip the plastic bags), then going and making my sandwich. No gloves, no washing her hands. I'm beyond disgusted, I did not know what to say so when I got out of there I just threw the damn sandwich away. I went back to work and told a couple coworkers about my experience, they told me that they've witnessed the same type of thing there & for that reason have not gone back. read more

My experience started when I checked in on my beef and was told they only had three of our four steers. A while after that, our customers started calling us to talk about all the errors of their orders. Not a single order was filled correctly including our own beef. On Wednesday August 14. 2013 two friends and I meet to have lunch at what use to be a good deli stop. On this day we were greeted with "we don't have any bacon" so okay no BLT is what we say to each other joking. The special was noted on a dry erase board as you walk up to the deli counter and it was 1/2 meatloaf sandwich, bag of chips and 20 oz drink for $7.00. I thought that sounds great but I admit I did not see where the special was on the order sheet and mistakenly assumed that a special would be a set item. When I got to the counter to pay I said I would like the special but did not see where to mark it and the rude and nasty lady said it is right here and she marked it so hard it tore the paper and then she said " well how do you want it" I said I am sorry I thought a special would be a set item her reply was "NO, now what do you want on it" so I mark the items I wanted and then she came back and said no cheese, I replied I didn't mark any did I. She came back with well I make sure. She asked me if I wanted it warm I said yes it was not warm, so why ask. Two other groups of people came in and asked the same question regarding the special not understanding that you would need to fill out a deli slip for it. After the last two gentlemen ask she came around the counter and said I'll take care of this problem and erased the special from the board. They asked if the special was all out and they said to them no I am just tired of the peanut gallery. She was rude to my two friends and questions each of their orders as well in fact one of them ordered potato salad and she said I am just making it now can you wait it should be done by the time the sandwiches are ready, What deli doesn't have potato salad made early and ready for the rush or the day before so the flavors blend. The salad tasted like a glob of mayo and was not eatable. Your system is not working your order forms are all attached to one pad so if someone takes the whole pad up to the counter then there are none for the others coming in behind them and there they sit until the person taking orders has time to run them back to the little table which we saw and it makes her even more crabby at the customers. And the container holding all the pens and pencils is up at the counter by the deli queen so no one has use of them until they get up to pay and they have not been able to fill out the form which takes up a lot of time. Look at how your system is set up so maybe people can have a way to fill out their form or access to a form and writing devise before they get to the pay station. Then maybe the deli queen would not be so rude, nasty and grabby, but in the mean time I will not be back to Ebnes, you have just lost three customers and all the advertising that we can give you so sorry that Fishers is gone at least the service was better. I guess we will have to go Quiznos for sandwich, how sad is that. read more
